Hi Everyone, we are back.... Mountain conditions are so lousy my kids blew off all their snowboard and skiing lessons for the week.... Spring skiing is for wimps. They have their underarmour, their handwarmers, foot warmers, face guards, and smart wool, where's the cold???? :scared1:

Glad to see nothing has changed in my absence :rotfl:

Sorry about the weather.

I have to tackle a large kerfluffle on my bar exam application that is just really stupid and would keep it from going through (due next week) so the kids are going to the sitter's today.

Haha. I just wrote "the kids are going to the Bar today."

That would be wrong.

Although, as long as they aren't in the house making mommy mess up this 47 page application, that might be fine with me.

Hope you are all well, liberals.

Hello darlins (as my dear friend Uncle Remus would say). We buried my dear momma yesterday. We left the service with (the real and original) Hank Williams recording of 'Hey Good Lookin' playing loudly in the background. My kids are all here and so are the rest of her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grands but they're heading off to the four winds from whence them came before too long so I'll be sad and lost for a while. If you don't know, we shared a home with Mom so everywhere I turn I expect to see her. It's hard but she died like she lived - on her own terms. I found her in her bed on Friday morning where it seems she just went to sleep and didn't awaken. I think she made sure I was surrounded by most of my grown children so I wouldn't be too overwhelmed. She'd had lots of fun on Christmas and left us with two fresh pumpkin pies, her famous cream cheese bars and joyous memories. We have wonderful memories. Her obituary talks of her delight in the election and our regret that she didn't live to see GWB leave the White House.

Even at my age being an orphan sucks, it really sucks.

How very true..I am so sorry for your terrible loss...:grouphug:

Your Mom sounds like quite a lady, the world is lessened by her passing.

Oh I'm sorry sorry. It's so hard when you turn around and expect her to be there and she isn't. Take comfort that she was well and happy to make pies and food for Christmas. My thoughts of course will be with you during this time of mourning my friend :grouphug:

Update from Al Franken...

Dear Friend,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support and your patience during this long recount process.

Today I've got good news to report: it looks like we're on track to win. The state canvassing board has completed its job of reviewing all the ballots - and at the end of this important step in the process, we're ahead.

Now, there's more to do before it's over - there are still some Minnesotans whose voices haven't been heard yet because their absentee ballots were improperly rejected. But when those votes are counted and the recount is complete, I believe we will have won this election.

I'm so thankful for all you've done to make that possible. With a margin this close, it's no exaggeration to say that not one bit of effort was wasted. And I can't tell you how much it's meant to me and Franni to be able to work alongside all of you.

We've got a lot of important work left to do together to get this country back on track - and with the recount process almost over, I want you to know that I'm ready to get to work on day one. For now, though, I'd like to thank you for all you've done, and to wish you and your family a Happy New Year. I think it's going to be a great one.

Thanks. And I'll talk to you soon.

So sorry

Well, the Illinois Governor has appointed someone to Obama's seat. Roland Burris, former AG. I'm sorry, but he should not be seated, I don't care if it was God this guy appointed, he should not be seated.....

I'm completely disgusted.

I agree, but is this a done deal? I am hearing he intends to name him in the next hour or two...

He's announced that he will make the announcement at 3pm. Apparently this person has accepted. Harry Reid says the Senate will not seat him.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about this, but I would really love to see Senator Al Franken. Because he's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone-it, people like him.

I am watching CNN now. This guy persued the seat after the scandal broke...what a mess.
