Hello darlins (as my dear friend Uncle Remus would say). We buried my dear momma yesterday. We left the service with (the real and original) Hank Williams recording of 'Hey Good Lookin' playing loudly in the background. My kids are all here and so are the rest of her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grands but they're heading off to the four winds from whence them came before too long so I'll be sad and lost for a while. If you don't know, we shared a home with Mom so everywhere I turn I expect to see her. It's hard but she died like she lived - on her own terms. I found her in her bed on Friday morning where it seems she just went to sleep and didn't awaken. I think she made sure I was surrounded by most of my grown children so I wouldn't be too overwhelmed. She'd had lots of fun on Christmas and left us with two fresh pumpkin pies, her famous cream cheese bars and joyous memories. We have wonderful memories. Her obituary talks of her delight in the election and our regret that she didn't live to see GWB leave the White House.
Even at my age being an orphan sucks, it really sucks.
I so love how you celebrate your Mother. Easy does it luv, we're all here around you. Peace.
