The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

Everyone has pretty much covered everything EXCEPT, his plan does not leave out 50 million people. It has been claimed that 15 million will not want or sign up for the plan, and he has suggested ways to deal with those people.

People don't want government coming in, mandating their insurance and then garnishing their wages, plain and simple. So, Hillary's plan will become what Barack's plan is, and this should surprise us how?

Okay so how do you feel about 25 and under being mandated....that is okay than :confused3 mandating is mandating and yes it was said to be 50 million in the Debate I just listened to it.

Also there will be a mandate for parents to cover there children...so yes if you have children YOU WILL HAVE A MANDATE for them...

But sure it will come back as well thats okay because they are children...well the GOV is going to force you under his plan also to do so.

Yanno, this whole healthcare debate is a real hoot to me.

Americans pay the most for healthcare. We pay double what the next most expensive system is. For that we get a shorter lifespan, more dead in childbirth, and more dead babies at birth.

And people still defend this system as if it was wonderful, the most bang for our buck, the envy of the world, etc., etc., etc.

Let's wake up and smell the latte.

He has offered up further credit for those that cannot pay for healthcare, that applied to all, kids should be covered, and they fall under most current state's policies that already cover them. I have listened to all but one debate, and have listened to both CNN & MSNBC regarding all the candidates, it has been said many many times, not during the last debate that 15 million was the estimated number...

I'll say it again, Hillary's plan will become Obama's because no way in hades is her plan going to pass through congress when people know they're going to have to pay for it via garnished wages... isn't going to happen.

Do young people under 25 have to buy auto insurance in all states? I know they do in NJ, because DN (21) has to have it. Nobody talks about it being socialism, it's just the law and it's what everyone does. If you're caught driving without insurance, you get a summons.

I could see some kind of fine for those who CAN AFFORD to purchase insurance and choose not to do it-and then expect someone else to pick up the tab.

No one will answer me about the mandate for 25 and under...why is that okay and also the mandate if you have children...

You all keep stating no way in hell will hers pass due to hetr mandate but Obamas will work and pass becuase no one willl vote for a mandate...yethis plan has a mandate

His mandate is acceptable but hers is not because whsy...she asks all to be on the plan...

Answers for all :teeth: Take your pick which one applies to you ;)

- You didn't come in "to prove a point", you came in with unwarranted and UNTRUE attacks on Obama, and you got called on it. I've also asked you - repeatedly - to point out all these "attacks" you say we are launching on Hillary, and have yet to see an answer.

- I believe we SHOULD have socialized medicine in this country. I'm just enough of a realist to know that it's not going to happen in one fail swoop. Hillary's plan will end up becoming Barack's plan when it fails - and it will fail - to make it through Congress.

- Why is it different for kids? Because kids don't get a choice in the matter, and adults do. Simple enough?

- If people don't buy into Obama's plan and then have to go to the hospital, they'll be charged for it, just like they would be now. The difference is that under his plan, they could pay "back premiums", probably with a penalty, rather than getting stuck with a huge and unpayable hospital bill. Is that ideal? Of course not. But it is better than what we currently have, and more likely to pass than mandatory coverage for everyone.

- Nobody said Obama was perfect, but it's not my job to point out any flaws he may have, and I'm certainly not going to do the Republicans job for them. The "talking point" about experience has already become something they throw out there constantly, and there's enough ignorance about other things (we haven't had our daily "he's a muslum" post yet ;) ) that I see no reason for me to add to that. If you mean that he looks perfect next to Hillary...well, I won't argue that. ( ;) ). But the "I'm taking my candidate and going home" routine is a little silly, don't you think? If you can't handle a little discussion among fellow Democrats, then I'd strongly advise you to stay away from the internet (and radio and tv, for that matter) from the moment she should wrap up the nomination until well after election day (or years after if she wins). Toughen up a little bit, or you're going to get your feelings hurt an awful lot for the next few months.

But it is still a mandate...So why mandate at all....if adults have the choice why not give them the choice to get it otr not get it for there children...after all it is there children not the GOV.

My point is that many are saying her plan wont work due to making them pay...well they ar still being made to pay for children up to age 25...

As for back premiums...as stated before...if you owe $2500 in back premiums for the year and you get sick and it will cost you lets say $300...you will need to pay back premiums to get care and if they did not want to pay $50 a week the surely will not want to pay it back...

Say you need surgery and it will cost you $1500 will you want to pay the back premiums in addition to the senility or will you just pay the $1500 out of pocket to get it done...well no because most likely you dont have it...

That is why having $50 a week taken out of you pay FOR A FAMILY OF 4 makes more sense than to say well "I never get sick so why pay" and than you do and find yourself in a bind.

Neither plan is perfect and it both have holes.

This thread has become nothing more than a free-for-all for a few. This was not the intention of the original Liberal thread, it's successor, and I'm sure not for the one who started this version. "No Debate Please" meant just that and didn't have a caveat "but only for you non-liberals". Obviously, times have changed.

This thread used to be a place to share news stories and some laughs for those on the liberal side of the aisle. Now, it's a soapbox and bully pulpit for a few. It's commendable that people feel so passionate about their candidate, but frankly this constant bickering is getting old, it isn't fun, and most tragic of all, it isn't even informative. It's just words because most people's eyes, just like mine, are starting to glaze over.

There have to be a half dozen threads on these boards that deal with the "Obama v Clinton" debate, the merits of each, and where each one doesn't quite measure up. I have no right to suggest folks go over there and argue because I can't control someone else's behavior. I can, however, control mine.

I believe "No Debate Please" means just that. And when it starts to mean just that for a few others, it might be interesting again. It isn't now. And life's too short to waste.

I agree and we need to stop all this foolish ness...We need to come together and not apart....I shall no longer debate about the healthcare system here or any other thread :thumbsup2 :hippie:

I tried posting a cartoon to get people to talk about something else, but people are having too much fun with the Obama vs Clinton debate.

I agree... I tell you something else...We need a front runner soon. I'd prefer it'sObama personally, but if it's Hillary that's OK... If this thread is any indication of what will continue happening without a frontrunner we need one before we self-destruct

And we wonder why the right kicks the left all over the place in this country. :sad2:

Fine...You can have the thread back to talk about...well, nothing much, I guess, if the election is off limits. God forbid we actually have passion about the people that are supposed to be representing this country, and knowledge to back it up.

But hey...I wouldn't want to make anybody take their ball and go home, so have fun :thumbsup2

Scarry thought and that is what the media keeps saying is that we will self destruct...I would like to see all Dems vote for one or the other and come together and say what ever candidate it is either Hillary or Obama they have my vote :thumbsup2

Not me. I'll talk about the election and various speculations till the cows come home. I enjoy it. But if it starts to sway toward "this Dem is totally wrong" vs. "this Dem is totally right" debate, I'm going to bow out. I dipped my big toe into the fringes of that argument and all it accomplishes is frustration, imho. And believe me, I get enough of that battling with the Conservatives here. ;)

You can also start another thread besides coming in here that welcomes the Debate on the stronger issues....the problem with politics and Religion is they are so hard to argue becuase it is hard to change people to one or the others beliefs...unless you are a Dem vs. a Rep

That is why this is good here because we can still debate but against the Rep....

we can still talk issues here but we all know the issues on our cadidates for the most part...and we seem to be having trouble agreeing so we are better off staying away from them, and talk about things we all like about both candidates and how we as Dems will be better off with one or the other as POTUS:thumbsup2

If you can't get a few laughs about the religious right and this clown, you don't have a sense of humor.

Oh yeah, I saw that last week. Very funny. I love the people who think you can just "BELIEVE" and you will be saved from homosexuality. Sprinkle that holy water! :rotfl:

Hang on!

Is there really a "Pray-Away-The-Gay" program? I thought that was only in South Park.

If it does exist, well... good grief. I mean, it's amazing. How could people be so mislead, so blind, so naïve?
