The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

I have absolutely zero problem actually discussing the issues of the campaign on this thread, regardless of what the "title" of the thread is. The "No Debate" clause was just to keep out the neo-cons that would come in to start arguments. We are all (well, except John) liberals here, and I see no reason why we can't discuss these two candidates and which one of them is better suited to serve our party as its leader.

I agree with you. I just don't understand getting so worked up because someone doesn't share your POV and I find it funny that Obama supporters were begged to share why we don't like Hillary and now we're being bashed for it. :confused3 We're also too enthusiastic about Obama though, so we need to stop with that to. OoooooK. :3dglasses

John McCain as the Republican nominee? Bring it on.

The real icing on the cake would be if McCain chooses Huckabee as his VP. It would be the perfect marriage between nutty ideas and a discussion over evolution.

Good grief, it's a Democrat's dream come true. :lmao:

LuvDuke did you watch that video to the end? It's actually a very strong message against McCain.

I have to say I agree with you there. It's getting really sad to see on this thread how people are picking each other apart. I'm most likely voting for Obama in the Ohio primary, and I dislike seeing how his supporters are being labeled. I don't want to pick apart the Clinton supporters, since I may easily be joining their ranks once the nomination is settled. I'm happy that we have the choices we have as Democrats. Both Hillary and Barack are strong, smart and far better candidates than the Republicans.

:thumbsup2

"Good luck with that in November"--very funny! :rotfl:

I think the Obama "Yes We Can" video is annoying. I don't get why it's so popular. :confused3

I thought you liberals were suppoused to be open, and accepting of everyones opinion and thoughts! Wouldn't believe it after reading this thread?

It's called passionate debate, my farblondzhet friend, something dearly lacking on the right, where your serious choices consist of a clueless old man and the second coming of vanilla.

Ahhh, yeah. Did you read my post as a "thumps up" for McCain? Ahhh, no it wasn't. :goodvibes

I think McCain is the Democratic dream nominee. Add Huckabee, and it's a Democratic fantasy come true.

Ohhh...I just love taunting Dawn with that little gem. If I close my eyes, I can almost see her toes curling up as she thinks about it!! :teeth:

Awwwwe, Look at his face! :lovestruc He loves his shrubby. :rotfl:

Hate to be an ageist, but why would a 72 year old run for POTUS? He may be healthy now, but does he have any idea what that kind of stress does to your body? Deathwish man. I do look forward to the day he has to debate Obama or HRC. He's gonna get annihilated! :teeth:

Well, I don't know. My 79 year old Dad is in pretty good shape and as long as he keeps up with his exercise his MD's say he'll continue to be. Age is the last thing I'm going to bash McCain on-there's plenty of other things that are available.

Welll, good to see Democrats coming home again. ;)

McCain/Huckabee .............. aka: Colonel Kurtz/Orville Redenbacher.

Ok, you guys have GOT to stop posting that picture. Gives me the creeping heebie geebies every time. :scared:

As for the debate...It's gonna be Kennedy-Nixon all over again. Shoot, on Super Tuesday, several of the networks showed a split screen as Obama was starting his speech and McCain was finishing his...and the difference really was striking. Whether it's Hillary or Barack, that difference is going to be all the more pronounced when they're on the same stage as him.

You really can't discount it, though. I mean, look how much Clinton aged from the beginning of his term to the end. Even Shrub - after taking more vacation than any president in history, mind you - looks like he's aged 20 years since he was first running. The presidency takes a heavy toll on anyone, even if - as in the latter case - they suck at the job. :teeth:

I'm not discounting it, it's just low on my list of things that make him the wrong choice.

I'd stay away from the age stuff, period. I think if they can handle the campaign trail, they can handle the rigors of being in office.

If you want some perspective, though, McCain was born in Aug of 36. Hillary was born in Oct of 47- only 11 years difference between the two of them.

I don't see McCain as particularly old, especially when you compare ages of the two candidates.

I don't think it's how old you are but how old you act. Thompson may have been younger than McCain, but he acted like a 90 year old. McCain is energetic enough and in fairly good enough health to dispell much of the age argument, imho.

My, you're funny. Running in with your 'drama llama' alter ego and giving us a poorly spelled little jab. Enjoy. We'll be ones laughing on election night!
