If there is a stain on the outside I will use oxiclean then toss it in for a pre soak otherwise inside out Which will preserve any logos or embellishments and also allows the wash to better clean the parts worn closest to your body. I turn them right side when folding or hanging to dry if they don’t go into the dryer.

..................................... It's a minor annoyance to me that most of DW's clothes are inside out.................................

I do the laundry and DW has her clothes inside out but she gets everything back *ready to put on.*

I do the same. And it's not worth bringing up because she does the laundry most of the time. If she doesn't have a problem with it, I'm not going to complain for the MAYBE once a month I do it. I was just curious what people thought.

Didn't even realize this was a thing people actually cared about. (With the exception of certain things with more specific washing instructions). They go in however they go in. If inside out when they come out, I'll turn them before folding or putting away. Makes no difference to me

At our house, my rule is…..

The clothes get put right side out before it goes into hamper. If it’s not, then it gets put away (hung or folded) inside out.

ETA….if something turns inside out when in the washing machine, then I will turn it right side out before putting it away.

I think it really just depends on who is doing the laundry, how many people they are doing it for, and the overall division of labor in the house. I can see it getting old having to stop and turn a bunch of pieces because others won’t stop to turn them when they take them off.

I do 100% of the laundry and turn stuff right side out when folding/hanging. My DH is actually pretty good about turning his things right side out before putting it in the hamper. The kids are terrible. They even leave socks and underwear stuck inside pants/leggings/pj bottoms. I think I’ve asked a few times what makes them think I want to be all up and personal with their worn underwear but they don’t seem to care. I could force the issue, but it doesn’t bother me all that much. I do at least separate my own clothes before throwing them in the hamper but don’t usually turn them right side out.

I can see that. I live alone, so it's just me. So I can do what works for me and don't have to worry about someone else's method. My SO and I somehow haven't had that discussion yet lol

We wash most things inside out in cold water so that they don't fade, and then turn them before putting them in the dryer, so that the lint comes off the outer surface properly, though I don't turn out anything that has vinyl decals.

The exception that must be washed right-side-out are my DD's "blacks"; her required skating team practice clothes, which as the nickname suggests are all solid black. We happen to own a white cat. DD loves the white cat, and her blacks pick up white cat hair. Due to the nature of the fabric they are made with, washing them inside-out leaves clumps of mixed cat hair and lint stuck inside them, and even turning them for the dryer isn't enough to get the white clumps off once they are there. If I don't want to have to take a lint brush to them each and every time, they have to be turned before washing.

I think they need to be turned the correct way before even going into the washer.

This is how I feel as well. Our laundry goes in the washer turned the way I intend it to, depending on the garment. The only odd one is my workout clothes. I wash them inside out, and hang them inside out. Partly because I just want it on a hanger, and partly so I can see the tags on the black leggings to know which is which. 🤣

I used to be much more "careful" of how laundry got done. Now my attitude is "if you don't like it then do it yourself." For the most part I will wash exactly as the item was tossed into the hamper. If it's inside out, it goes into the washer inside out; if it's rolled into a ball, it goes into the washer rolled into a ball. Now I will say that our washer tends to turn things inside out, in which case I will right them when putting into the dryer.

I am extra careful with sports uniforms because we don't own those and they need to be returned in good condition.

I answered "other" because unless the garment has specific pre-wash instructions, I don't really care. I may even put them away inside out. I'll eventually turn them right side out when I go to wear them.

This would be me. Does not bother me at all to find things inside out. Washer (it is kind of crazy) often inverts them for me.

Try drying with a damp towel - it’s a game changer -

Inside out socks are a pet peeve of mine, but mainly because my wife always makes me pair up the socks when we do wash and I'm the only one in our household that doesn't have inside out socks in the wash load. Having to turn them all right side out is really annoying when folding clothes (although it was one way to tell my socks apart from my boys' socks :p )

Buy some of those mesh bags (like for washing delicates) and clip one to each person's hamper - all socks go in there to be washed, so yours stay separate from theirs.

how I take them off and toss in the laundry bag is how they get washed- I will flip them to right side out when I put them away. Nor do I sort clothes prior to washing- they all go in together.

Back when I used to do everyone’s laundry, I gave my din his socks dnd underwear yo turn right side out after washing. My husbands socks got put together inside out. Now we each do our own and I don’t care how they wash things. I do occasionally wash things inside out. Dark pants don’t seem to fade as quickly if washed washed out.

This is my rule too.

Printed t-shirts and sports jerseys I intentionally wash inside out. Socks and pants I wash right-side out, and other stuff I don't pay much attention to.

I would love them to be righted when put in dirty clothes bin. But I am the only one who does that. It makes it quick to put in washer and then just fold when done. I can take time and stand at washer righting all the clothes or I can take time to do it as I fold and I choose at washer . I don't bother with socks and will just pair them and put away inside out. I don't want to right someone elses dirty stinky, sometimes sweaty sock, thank you.
