Gluwein (or correctly spelt gluhwein) is a German thing. They take red wine, heat it up with spices (cinnamon sticks, cloves, anise) and oranges, and serve it warm. It is delightful on a cold night with friends. Of course starting with a good bottle of red always helps....but because of the spicing and orange flavouring, a moderate bottle of red will also make a great tipple.

I love it with a pretzel and rotisserie chicken. (Or is that beer like in Octoberfest??)

Yes...that ice was melting fast. But then the temperature hit the 60's on Saturday and we were there in the afternoon.

huh, they must of been trying to make the pictures quickly.

How did they make the ice?

It is a special surface brought in. I think it has cooling facilities underneath and they turn it on every hour to re-set the ice.

They were charging about $25 for 45 minutes skating during most of the day except for when they had skating or ice hockey exhibitions on. Between the changeover, I guess the cooling must go on for a bit.

I wasn't complaining. I quite liked the effect of the puck making the wave with the reflection.

It came out great because you wouldn't get that reflection off the ice. It was a good dynamic shot.

Thanks. :goodvibes

Well...I better get on with some chores here. I promised DH that I would do some ironing tonight. And it ain't getting done by itself.

Have a good night and I hope to catch you tomorrow.

I wonder if thier SUV is going home with an Autopia car in the back.

There was NO Autopia Car for sale! The Friggin Peter Pan Car went for like $30,000 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

The ghosts removed from the end of WDW Haunted Mansion went for $38K :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

If people want to know when the D23 Expo will go to Florida.....when there are too fricken many millionaires who live in Orlando that are Disney Freaks willing to drop this kind of cash on auctions! $10,000 was donated to Unicef. The rest, in Disney's pocket! Evidently many of the folks who dropped the cash on the auction were Disney execs!

It's nearly 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon.

  • I've gone for a 5 - 6 km bike ride round the velodrome today.
  • Had a depressing 30 minutes watching MiL breakdown at the cemetary.
  • Weeded the garden for 2 hours.

I think I've done enough for today. What do you think my chances are for a simple dinner like eggs on toast? :scratchin

After that much work I would want something more substantial!

Education costs here too. It used to be free. But at least it is no where near as expensive (yet) as over where you are. I *think* Aussie undergraduate students are racking up about $5-10K per year and owe this to the Federal Government; which they can then pay off when they start working and earn in excess of $35K per annum. Most degrees are about 3 - 4 years. I think most people are paying off the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) fees in about 8 - 10 years through a higher tax rate.

You can pay the cost up-front and the Government charges less for up front payment.

The up front cost is slightly less but not much...so unless you HAVE the cash, you are better off just putting it on HECS and paying gradually later. I'm yet to earn enough within one financial year to start paying. But it certainly racked up given switching degrees and ending up with 2. :rolleyes:
Most degrees are 3-4 years....I did a double - which IF there are no subject clashes takes 6.5. Lets just say it took longer... :headache:

University being free in Australia was one of the WORST things that happened to this country. It devalued the education and stripped the universities of needed funding. It has ultimately CAUSED it to cost more now and mean we take on increasing numbers of International students who drop serious cash.

DBF would love to go to a culinary arts school....but yes...money :sad1:

Wish I could have the HH Ghosts :love:

I'm really not wanting to have a debate on this. You have your viewpoint and I can respect that.
Perhaps we should just agree to disagree and leave it at that. :rolleyes1

We're waiting for the DCL presentation to start. Last day. Bittersweet. It's fun, but I'm getting tired getting up early every morning.
