The Last to Post-2nd Edition - Part 3

I really wanted to go to culinary school, it just costs to much. The one that was on cannery row shut down last year.

That's something I'm currently looking into. Everything I know is self-taught, but I'm getting so much better at it that I can usually just put together any recipe and it comes out great, like the pound cake I made a couple weeks ago. I'd never made it before. The only problem is that the cheapest pastry program I found was a certificate in pastry arts and was $17,000. An associate's is $35,000 or $45,000 depending on the school. So... Until I can afford it, I can't go.

OUCH! Education is expensive in the US.

Thats what it comes down to the money.

Yep. I'm hoping that maybe if I work on my skills, I can manage to get some sort of grant or something when I do eventually go. That would be a good thing. I could get loans, but I currently can't get any federal or state financial aid because I defaulted on my old student loans.

Yep. Unfortunately :( Because I am really good at it, and I'm not just boasting. Everyone who tries the things I bake tells me I need to either go to school and do this for a living or open my own shop and do this for a living :lmao:

But the idea that people would pay me to bake is just amazing :rotfl:

Education costs here too. It used to be free. But at least it is no where near as expensive (yet) as over where you are. I *think* Aussie undergraduate students are racking up about $5-10K per year and owe this to the Federal Government; which they can then pay off when they start working and earn in excess of $35K per annum. Most degrees are about 3 - 4 years. I think most people are paying off the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) fees in about 8 - 10 years through a higher tax rate.

You can pay the cost up-front and the Government charges less for up front payment.

So....there would be no need to stop by that bakery you were telling me about on the way to the airport???

franandaj just posted an update on her TR and I think she's promising another one....hoping it will be soon.

I think I need to head to bed... I didn't sleep too well last night and it's been a long day.

See you ladies tomorrow! :grouphug:

It's dinner time here. DS decided on Fish and Chips; so DH has gone to pick up the take-away.

If I don't catch you later, sleep well all. I'm hoping to be around after school drop-off and coffee tomorrow.
