Gluwein (or correctly spelt gluhwein) is a German thing. They take red wine, heat it up with spices (cinnamon sticks, cloves, anise) and oranges, and serve it warm. It is delightful on a cold night with friends. Of course starting with a good bottle of red always helps....but because of the spicing and orange flavouring, a moderate bottle of red will also make a great tipple.
I love it with a pretzel and rotisserie chicken. (Or is that beer like in Octoberfest??)
