The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

Awww. That's sweet! :lovestruc

Today when I picked up DS4 from preschool, I was getting him into the car. He asked me what I did today, and was looking at my "ivoted!" sticker, so I said, "I voted."

DS4: You boated? I want to boated, too!
Me, laughing: Not boating, honey. Voting!
DS4: I want to voting, too!
Me: Awww, honey. You can't vote, you're too little.
DS4, almost crying (WTH???): I want to voting, Mama! Why can't I go voting with you?
Me: Sweetheart, you have to be a grown-up.
DS4: I'm a grown-up...
Me: Noooo. No, you're not. I'm a grown-up, Daddy's a grown-up, you are not a grown up. Your brother is not a grown-up.
DS4: Am I a daddy?
Me: No! Good grief, no, you are not a daddy.
DS4: When can I voting?
Me: You can vote when you use the potty for all your pee and poop, and when you graduate from high school. (Do you think that'll work?) :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: Probably not. ;) Alex got upset when I told him he couldnt vote. I didnt realize that all along he had expected to be able to vote too.

It turned out well. At school today they got to vote for their favorite drinks, and ice cream. :lmao:

Awwww, that's cool! I love that they get the kids involved in the spirit of the day with stuff like that. I remember in HS the Honor Society and another group brought voting machines into the school and we let the students vote for Pres (unofficially, obviously), then published the results. It was cool! :thumbsup2

You know how your Alex said who he was going to vote for? DS8 told me the other day, "Mama, if I could vote, I'd vote for Obama and Rossi." When I asked why (we don't really talk about this stuff), he said (I assume based on the TV commercials), "Because they CARE about America and want to do what's best." It took everything in me to keep a straight face. He had no idea what the issues are, just heard that soundbite on each commercial, and therefore they were A-OK in his book. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I know, I was so surprised when DS said that, too. He just popped in and noticed my sticker. He asked who I voted for, and I told him, "None of your business." :lmao:

I know! I could just see him chattering away about it without thinking twice. :rotfl:

At the very least, the kooks next door have all kinds of political signs in their yard for one party's candidates. Apparently the husband asked DH if he could put some up in OUR yard!

I gasped (DH and I are more moderates, tending to vote alike on issues but sometimes differently on candidates) and asked what he said. He told the neighbor that he did not want to see a political sign on our property, and if he saw one he would take it away and destroy it.

I don't know if DH has the same aversion to the visual pollution of the signs that I do, I just hate them. But I was so glad he made it clear he didn't want them in our yard! :thumbsup2

So naturally the neighbor's signs are all bunched ascloseasyoucanget to our yard without crossing the property line.

Of COURSE. Crack pots.

I think Frelan tends to just follow my lead on most things. He doesnt have time to watch the news... Or be all up on what is happening in the world. So he just tends to agree with whatever i say. He knows I wont steer him wrong. :lmao: Either that, or he just doesnt want to hear me gripe. :lmao:

Still hungry. Must have more dinner.
Go! Babies are hungry! :rotfl:

I haven't fed the troops yet. Oops! We were just gonna do breakfast; I bought bread, little sausage patties and eggs today, and it sounds really good right now. :thumbsup2

Dang it. All right you've made me ravenous! Must go cook dinner!!! :rotfl2:

Howdy Hyenas! Looks like Obama is our new president. I hope you will all join me in a prayer for him, regardless of our political affiliations or religion.

We need to support all of our new leaders and pray that they make wise choices, bring our troops home safely and work together to help build a strong economy.:thumbsup2

Hey Megan! Since SW WA is apparently considered part of Oregon...what's going on with our elections? All we get are Oregon channels.

I have no clue! I am watching Cars with the girl right now. :lmao:
