The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

I have fond memories of my moms aprons. She would bust them out at Christmas... and we would bake for 2 or 3 days straight. All 3 of us! Persian Squares.. peanut butter balls... cookies... holiday bread.. my dad would make fudge. With nuts, but he always made me a little pan without. :santa:

Did you fix your counter to read a week ahead of what it was ?? I swear last week said 17 weeks.. but then again, time is speeding along. With the time change screwing up my sleep / wake schedule.. I might have missed a week.

:lmao: :lmao: Not a full week.. Just a couple of days. My Dr. adjusted my due date, a while ago... I just never got around to switching it. Not that my due date matters much.

Hubby is puttering his way to bed, I think I will slink off that way too.

I hate crawling into bed after he has gone to sleep, every bit of noise or light wakes him. Not to mention.. he snores and then I can't fall asleep :lmao:

He's subbing for the next two days-- easy peasy assignment as a resource teacher (title I and gifted pull out class, plus he is organizing a classroom library).

We were just talking about if he likes that style of teaching-- maybe pursue special ed or reading specialist. He's getting into the groove of subbing, pick up phone and notice message waiting GULP -- he has been asked for an interview for a MS science positon.

At first he thought of not bothering.. then decided any interview is good practice.

It puts us in a tight spot, trying to decide "is it worth it?"
As terrible as it sounds.. it may be more cost effective to NOT have him work.
No out of pocket medical expenses as an employed person with diability.. he gets medical aid from the state to cover the 20% medicare does not cover.

It's sucky - work and feel good about yourself, but after expenses in health insurance and co-pays/deductible.. would make just as much staying home and working just a few days a month. :sad2:

There has to be a better way to help people with health care.

Morning!!

Don't have alot of time, but I'm going to try and link up the pattern that I choose.
Here goes:

or this one which I think I'm doing the blue one with the ruffles at the bottom.

www.sews.com/patterns/taylormade/1034972sp.jpg

I was going to do the second one on the first link, but my youngest DD, likes the ruffled one the best. Little does she know, that I'm going to make one for her too. :tiptoe: :goodvibes Oh, and decided to make the same pattern for all of them. That way, one doesn't wish that she had another style. Not only that, I can get on a roll by doing them all the same.

I'm off to help my oldest DD Becky in her classroom.

Have day good day!:flower3:

PS- Megan, I'm going with boy and girl each. My second choice is boys. Don't ask me why? pirate: pirate:

Geez Megan, I'm stumped. I put my wedding ring on a string and held it over the computer monitor with your post directly underneath. First it seemed to be going in a circular motion, then an oval motion. Hmmm....maybe one of each? But then it started going vertical, completely stopped and went horizontal, came to another stop and started going diagonal. Thats when things really started getting strange, it went up in the air and completely looped around my finger 5 times, then unlooped itself and exploded upon impact with the computer monitor.

So this morning I called 1-800-PSYCHIC out of sheer desperation and the lady on the other end informed me that it meant you were having twins. Pheww! What a relief to get that cleared up!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

COME ON NOW...SPIT IT OUT! The gender, not the babies yet!:rotfl:

I have some exciting news!! Dh and I are getting engaged, I say engaged and not married because he hasn't officially asked me yet. We've been ring shopping for awhile and we've decided to make our own ring and this weekend we get to go to Glasgow to pick out the stones we want, I'm so excited. So once we get the ring made and after he asks and gives it to me I will show you pictures of the ring, did I mention I'm excited?
Congratulations, Christina! I'm so excited for you! :yay:

Two couples I know had their rings made. Well, one had matching rings made, and the other I think designed just her ring. They were really beautiful. :goodvibes

It does seem like a time-consuming process, though; they made several wax molds, trying them out and tweaking the design a bit before finally settling on one. Please show pictures as you go through the process? I just think it's fascinating to design it yourself!

DH sort of "designed" the wing I wear now, but it's actually a very classic setting, with one round diamond between two smaller diamonds. It has a very thick, comfort-fit type band, though. The versions we looked at in shops all had super-thin bands, and looked goofy on my big fingers.

Hey I thought I'd let you guys know that Gina is very very sick.

I've written her a couple of PMs and finally heard from her. She has a really bad case of mono. Spent a day in the hospital, can hardly eat, and is super tired.

Keep her in your prayers.
Ohhhh no! Poor Gina!

I heard from her awhile back (a week ago? Two weeks?) and she was very busy with work, school and kids' stuff. She said it was going to be super busy for another week or so, then should start to calm down. And now she's got mono??? :headache:

I had it in college, and it is like nothing else I have ever experienced! I'd wake in the morning and feel like I hadn't slept. I'd haul myself to class, then go back home and fall into bed for several hours. I don't know how I made it through that quarter, but I did. The health center doc advised me to withdraw that quarter, but I just couldn't afford to, so I stuck it out. It took about a week of sleeping every chance I got, then gradually got less and less tired. But it was 4- 6 weeks before I was back to normal.

Poor Gina!

Just thought you all would want to know. :lmao:

Alright ladies.. Who wants to speculate??? Boys?? Girls??? One of each? What do you think? popcorn::
:rotfl2:

Let me see... Well, I know the little bully jumping on his sibling is a boy. (I'm well familiar with this behavior, you see... :sad2: ) I was gonna guess one of each, based on statistics, but honestly I think it's two boys.

Yep, that's my guess, two boys. :lmao:

Melody, I love the apron idea for Christmas! You should go into business, I'll buy one! :lovestruc

Not so fast there. The little bully baby also knows that right now he/she is in a position to attack, yet not get caught. That sure sounds like my darling princess princess:

I am not really going to die....Alex - come back
