The Hyena Chat thread: Everyone's welcome!

:rotfl2:

Your sweet little  ??? I don't believe it. :)

But it is true :sad2:
Oooooo, I was hoping it was going to be better. I'm sorry!

(Went to the loo...sorry!)

Actually the arm is better.....pretty much....it is the least of my concerns. I had a Dr appt. in the valley on Tuesday.....you see my 5 year plan was up, and needed a new one. It was the best 4 years and 11 months of my life....it is just that first month that sucks :confused3

Are you talking a form of BC? Like the things they stick under the skin of your arm?

Bonjour, mon ami!

Hola - you sure have a knack for showing up during inappropriate conversations :rotfl2:
It's true. :lmao:

So, dizzy... IUD??? I don't know how often they have to change those out... :confused3

A friend of mine had those little matchsticks under the skin, and I think those were good for 5 years. Oh, but you have issue with the hormone forms of bc, right? I vaguely remember talking about that before.

Yep its true. I tried other BC and I was sick 24/7, just like when I was pregnant. That sure didn't work. I really shouldn't complain, nearly 5 years of "nothing". Just have to survive the first little bit :thumbsup2

So we'll just have to give extra TLC to you and Staley right now. :grouphug:

I think I might be hormonal right now too. I watched the movie Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants yesterday and cried so much that my nose was running. :rotfl:

(Sorry, I really should be more sympathetic, but that is really not my nature  )

Did you guys read your kids the Good Night, Moon book? I don't think I had it when DS8 was a baby, but I remember I kept hearing about it. So once I found the book on sale, I bought it for DS4 when he was a baby. It was one of his favorite books, and even though DS8 was a bit older, he loved it, too.

So we went to Barnes and Noble last week and I saw this Halloween book that's a take-off, called Good Night, Goon. It keeps the same soothing, rhythmic pattern of speech, but the actual words and illustrations are spooky, and it's hilarious!!! It starts,
"In the cold gray tomb
There was a gravestone
And a black lagoon
And a picture of -

Martians taking over the moon..."
:lmao:

Never heard of them - but they sound great :thumbsup2

The original story is obviously meant as a bedtime story. The sounds and rhythm of the book are very soothing and sleep inducing. It's a very sweet story about a little bunny going to bed, and noticing and saying good night to all the things in his room.

Sounds cute. Unfortunately DS never had the attention span for books - although that has changed the older he gets :thumbsup2

How do you vote in your area? Not who did you vote for, but what is the ballot like?

When I was in HS we brought in polling machines, and you'd go inside, pull the curtain for privacy, and then there were a bunch of little levers to pull to make your selections.

I thought when I last voted (4 years ago) that we slipped our paper ballot into a panel, and then used a sharp object to punch out the selection we wanted. (I think these are the ones involved in the whole "hanging chad" controversy last time, though that was in FL, not WA.)

Anway, when I went to vote this time, I saw people carrying around their paper ballots, and there were little bubbles to color in for your selection! Isn't this going waaaaay backwards? I was surprised everything wasn't computerized!

In fact, they did have a new option that was electronic, basically using a credit-card type thing that you plugged into a machine which then displayed your ballot on a monitor. It was a touch screen and you just touched the box you wanted to select and it would fill in an x on the box onscreen. You just touched it again to de-select.

And NO CURTAIN! I was surprised, because people were walking around behind me and it bugged me! I felt like anybody could watch me as I cast my votes, reading along with me on the screen! (I don't think anybody was doing that, but there was nothing to stop them.) :lmao:

I have I think good news too about my DN (not the one staying with us, his older brother who has had all the messed up family troubles). I think we have convinced him to get a divorce, and if he does it now he should be a lock for full custody :cool1: (at least of the baby that is his)

This is actually the first election I voted in :rolleyes1 . I tried 4 years ago, but we had a huge local issue on the ballot (annexing 2 school districts) and the wait was over 3 hours, and I worked full time an hour away. This year I just filled out an absentee ballot, it was a bubble type ballot that you filled in with a pen, but obviously that does not at all answer your question :snooty: :lmao:

I don't think I realized they had an older child, I thought it was just the infant. Good! This would, I hope, be the best outcome for him and the child.

I was just curious, because my location just seemed like... very low-tech, you know? Even lower than the machines I used... what, 25+ years ago! What the heck??? :confused3

OOPS! Gotta run to get the boy. See ya!

They have 2 now, well he has 1. The oldest daughter got taken away from him for good when the mom went to jail (even though he raised her, and name is on the birth certificate, DNA had another opinion). She quickly got pregnant again with his baby (we all thought so he wouldn't leave), but I think he has changed his mind. With the mom in jail now is his best shot at custody. That and she still calls and orders him around and yells at him from in jail. This woman is truly a piece of work :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

It was very sad, she had the baby in July, went to jail in September. The poor baby had all kind of breathing and blood pressure problems for the first little bit (since mom was gone), but she is healthy and 100% now :goodvibes
