Fun things in the lobby area/food court? I have heard that lots of fun things happen, parades, dancing? Do they have a schedule of these things, or do you just have to get lucky and be there?

I have in my Disney notebook from a college Cm that used to be at POP, that at 8am they have The Twist in the Food Court, at 6pm The Hustle in Classic Hall and food court, and a parade everyday anywhere from 5:30-7:00 pm for the kids in Classic Hall.

Things are always subject to change I suppose, but I HTH!

That does help - thanks!

I have both sizes of mugs from Pop Century. The travel mug that can fit into your cup holder of your car can hold a little more than the fatter mug. Not that much, maybe 1/3 cup more. But if you're really thirsty, that 1/3 cup can equal a few extra trips to the food court! lol

We just spent 4 nights at Pop....LOVED it! It was a blast!! Had a preferred room in the 50's, which was just perfect. We could have spent all our time just exploring the resort...there's so much that we didn't get to see...next trip, I guess! :thumbsup2

the travel cup holds more than the bigger cup?

I took a measuring cup (I was bored!) and put 2 cups of water in it. It filled the travel cup to the line (there is a little line inside, I think it's where the lid hits) and it overflowed the big one. It surprised me, but that's what happened. It's not really much difference, but I couldn't even fit all the 2 cups into the bigger looking mug.

subscribing - good idea!
I was at the POP in 05; will return in Oct 07. :cool1:
I hope I get on the right side of the 60s - as we could see the Epcot fireworks from the end of the building.

We are POP-newbies, and will only be there for two nights (before our DVC) and do not plan to go into the parks while we're there. Any suggestions on which building to ask for? We have a standard, and are just two adults.

Thanks !!! :thumbsup2

I was wondering exactly where are the preferred rooms? I see that they are rooms 500 ft from the main building, so what decade is that? Only in the 60's? Just curious what decades/buildings this includes? Thanks!

Ive been trying to find out what section I was at, either here, the Canadian section, or the resorts section. Someone posted a link to the map of POP with the preferred rooms highlighted. I'll keep looking sorry I cant find it offhand I thought I had saved it.

We are just back from a stay at Pop Century. This thread was very helpful.

We are DVC members, but decided to save up points for a trip with extended family next year, so that is why we stayed at PC.

We liked the resort. One piece of info I must have missed (so I am going to post it for others to know ahead of time) is that they do not have towels at the pools. A lot of people seemed to know this because they had beach towels with them. At the DVC resorts they have towels, so we didn't think about bringing towels. If we stay at PC again we will bring towels.

One thing my DD and I were looking forward to was the Frozen Cokes. We really enjoyed them with our unlimited refills mug. What we found is that the machines were not broken, but often were not available because it takes lot of time for the mixture to freeze. So the problem seems to be more that the frozen drinks get used up faster than they can make them. We always were able to get Frozen Cokes in the morning at breakfast (what can I say, we love those things and we got them whenever we could). Often in the afternoon we could get them, but at the busy times they would have plastic wrap around the handle so they no one used them while the machine was making more.

Anyway, it was a nice resort and we enjoyed our trip. If we run out of points in the future we will probably go back to PC again.

Uh Oh!! I thought that they had towels at the pool, guess I need to go repack - again!!

Does anyone know if the gift shop at Pop sells beach towels?? We might just have to buy some as souveniers!

Yep, they have Beach Towels! What a fun souvenir!

Have a great trip!!:cool1:

ETA: Oh, yes, we always call housekeeping for extra towels and they just ask "how many" - they are very nice and bring them up quickly.
Last time we were there (March) towels were right outside the elevator. Makes it nice for housekeeping (and guests) in the evening. :)

Do not bother to pack towels! Just push the housekeeping button on the phone, and say "I would like some extra towels for the pool please!"
They will bring them over immediately, as many as you need.

I have also heard reports of carts of towels being near the elevators at each bldg., but I don't know if that's always the case or not. We just had them brought to us. Easy and fast! :thumbsup2
