So am I nutso for requesting the 90s building? No one seems to want to stay there and I realize its farthest from the Classic Hall but my DH is a huge techie and loves the computer pool so he asked me to request it!

I do not think you are NUTSO at all... :sunny: We were in a standard King Size room in the 80s last year on the third floor and loved it, right near the Computer pool. I kinda hope we get that whole section again as it worked out so well for us with parking and all. I did not request any section, so just see what I get this week is my theory. Would rather have that king size room, than worry over what section I am in...do not flame me, I am happy anywhere at POP.... :yay:

We are leaving on the 12th of Jan. thru the 21st!! It's a great time to go isn't it? I'm making our ressies tonight and I am so excited!! We stayed in the 50's bldg. 3, 3rd floor facing the pool but not considered preferred. It was a great location and we want this same bldg. but 1st floor this time. Be looking for our window. It's the one with about 40 disney characters in it and we will have lighted disney character lights around our window. Not too much longer!!!

This has probably been answered before, but the search function isn't working. :sunny:
Does anyone know where the smoking rooms are located at Pop? Are the all in the same building, or are they just spread out among different ones? I requested to be in the 50's section with at least 1 of our 2 rooms a smoking room, and the CM didn't mention anything about those 2 requests conflicting, but then I got to thinking maybe we wouldn't be able to have both. :confused3 It doesn't really matter, and the smoking is more important than being in the 50's, so just wondering.

Mousiemom: I see your vacationing in Gatlinburg soon! From a native East Tennessean, thanks for visiting, and hope you enjoy Winterfest!! It's beautiful!

I think that part of the 90s is smoking. I'm not sure about the 50s.

Has anyone tried faxing their request before? If so did it help to get them fulfilled or is it a waste of time?? :confused3

Does anyone know the fax number??

ladyomega - Sorry I can't find the answer on this thread either. Darn search! :badpc: According to Deb's site, there are at least 4 smoking-optional buildings at POP. Somewhere in this thread, there is a list of the building numbers, I just can't seem to find it. Maybe someone will come along that remembers which page has the info. It will help if you list SMOKING as your first request, and then the 50s building, since it will give the CMs a sense of what is more important to you.

candeeapril - Faxing is no longer necessary, nor does it seem to help. Make sure your requests are listed on your reservation. You can always call CRO back with any additions. Years ago, we did fax our requests but we seemed to get the exact opposite! Good luck! :sunny:

Just got back from a mini trip and stayed at POP.. This was my second time to stay at POP and I loved it.... This is by far my favorite hotel so far..

Heres a few pictures of the new buildings they are building.. also the bridge that will connect them to the current buildings is pictured..

Hey Ladyomega! Where did u live in TN? I lived in Maryville for 3 yrs and loved it!! I looked out my br window and saw the smokies. We stay in a chalet between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge @ the top of a mtn. We're renting out 2 chalets because we have 4 families going. We were going to Dollywood but a lot of the rides will be shut down because of the season. I'm excited about seeing all the decorations! We are going to Dixie Stampede one night(love it) and the aquarium. This trip is going to be our relaxing vacation before the big disney one in Jan. I can't wait to sit out on the porch in the rocking chair with my morning coffee. AHHHHHHH! I hope it's freezing too. I'm so sick of this hot humid weather down in Mobile!! Talk to ya soon!

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the in room safes? I'm thinking about taking my laptop and I'd love to see how big they really are!

I don't have a picture, but as I remember them, they would not be big enough for a laptop. As I recall, they were about the size of a camcorder bag. (a good size one, like the 8mm type, not the small ones they have out now) It was good for plane tix, a camera, and keys, extra cash, and that's about it. At least that's what we used it for. Hope that helps.

From the first page:

Q: Will there be a safe in the room?
Each room will feature an in-wall safe big enough to hold a laptop computer.

Sorry no pic...but DEFINATLY big enough for a Laptop. I brought mine with me, and its a 17 in screen. It fit in the room safe! :thumbsup2
They were designed specifically for laptops.

I just got back from Pop Sunday night. I had my laptop with me and it fit in the safe easily.

I read somewhere on these boards about bypassing the thermostat sensor in the rooms. The first step was to press the Power button and the down arrow button at the same time. There was just one problem with that. There is no Power button. :confused3
