The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

My sister and niece are going down for a two week stay at the POP, starting on Aug 12th. Myself and 7 others (2 other families) are going down on the twentieth as a Grand Gathering. Her first week there she is a room only reservation. The week I'm down there we're all on the dining plan package. My question is, will she have to change rooms for the second week, or will she be able to stay in the same room? And will our whole group be able to get rooms together if she does stay in the same room? We're just trying to get everything organized ahead of time so we'll be prepared. Thanks.

If she asks when you check in, they should be able to assign the same room for her entire stay.

No, there are other People in the Pool trying to enjoy it.

Yes, you can bring them. I did and no one said anything and there were other people there with them also. We were in the computer pool. The people that bother others are the splashers! I wouldn't bring the big floats though as they do take up a lot of pool space and there are usually a fair amount of people in the pool, especially in the summer! Have fun!

When your sister checks into her room, she can advise them that she has another reservation a week later. However that is no guarantee they will not make her change rooms. Also even if they tell her that yes you will not have the same room for the other week, that again is no guarantee. She will really not know for sure until she checks in for her second week. Two years ago we had a 14 day reservation we did a 10 day package and then a 4 day package. When we checked in we notified the CM that we had another reservation and than showed them both confirmation numbers. The CM advised that we had the room for the 14 days. However when we went to check out after the 10 days and checked in for the 4 days, we were advised that we had to move. I explained that we were told we had our room for the 14 days however a big party was coming in and they need our room to fit them all in. Hopefully they will not make her switch rooms. We are going this month for 11 days, yet again we have two reservations, so we are hopping we will not have to switch but we know it is no guarantee.

Thanks, momto1disneyfan, that's what we figured. Her main thing is that she doesn't want to pack everything up if she doesn't have to, but I guess she'll have to be prepared. My guess is they'll move her, since we're a Grand Gathering the second week, and it'll probably be easier for them to find 3 other rooms together somewhere else, rather than finding 2 available rooms next to hers.

We are looking at a possible trip next May. After a not so good trip at the movies, we want to try a new a resort. We are thinking about Pop. With all the preferred changes, we are going to pay for a preferred room, but what section? Our ta said she likes the 70's, but it looks like the 60's might be closer on a map. We have never been to this resort, so what does everyone think....which section is closest to the main hall?

Greetings and welcome to Pop!! Look at post #3 on the first page of this thread for the best map of Pop. Certainly the 60's are in the middle of the action since they border the main pool. However, the wings of the 50's and 70's that are closer to Classic Hall are closer than the furtherest wings of the 60's. Duh! In other words, depending on where your room actually is there is no real difference in terms of closeness to Classic Hall.

So the question becomes: do you want to be facing the pool in the 50's or 60's or the main courtyard in the 70's with all its activity or do you want a quieter spot higher up or on the back of a building.

Let's get someone else to comment on the noise level of poolside since I've chosen quieter and further away rooms in the 70's for both of my trips (#6458/Mickeys Phone and #0104/Hot Wheels). The first was a 4th floor room facing Hourglass Lake and the second was a 1st floor room facing the lawn between the 70's and 80's. Does all this make sense?

Enjoy your trip!

Can someone point me to what bldgs are preferred and which ones are standard? and non-smoking

Hello-

We've been to Pop 2 times already but last trip was 10/04... which leads to my ? of besides the 60's buildings what else is preferred now? It is actual buildings of the 50's and 70's or just certain rooms?

My other ? is about the size of the rooms, now we will be using a pack n play, has anyone done this and could you tell me how much of a squeeze is it???

TIA-
Ang

SOME rooms in the 50s, 60s and 70s are now designated "Preferred". OTHER rooms in these seven buildings, along with ALL the rooms in the 80s and 90s, are "Standard". Remember, you can request anything (floor/building/section/view/etc) but you're guaranteed only a room with the designation for which you paid. That said, Disney does its best to grant all requests.
Re: smoking-optional: See page 108 of THIS thread for building numbers.

What a great thread!!!

Went to ASMo Jan 2006 - loved it so much DH surprised me with a return trip in Jan 2007. :goodvibes Of course I am making all the arrangements and I have decided to try POP for 10 nights - Jan 14-24. It looks fun and I think my girls will get a kick out of all the larger than life icons. I have learned a lot from reading this thread - thanks for sharing. Cant wait to return to the magical world!! :tinker:

I have a question. I arrive at POP on Tuesday and I REALLY want to find out which room we're in. Is there ANY way to find out this info before you check in?

We used one last year and found that it fit perfectly next to the TV armoire/dresser. There's a little nook next to the armoire and the pack and play slipped right in and wasn't in anyone's way. We really didn't want it next to the door and we were hoping we wouldn't have to put it in between the beds, so we were VERY pleasantly surprised that it fit so well.

Absolutely none. In fact, you can only find out your room number at checkin IF it's ready for occupancy. Otherwise, the CM will give you a card with a number to call after 3 PM to get your room number. There's NO way anybody will tell you the room number BEFORE you arrive. They can't.

Hey guys. I new to this thread. My DGF and I are planning a trip in Feb 07. We have decided to stay at POP. We were just there in may. We stayed at CSR. But we are looking for something a little cheaper and POP fits the budget.
Thanks for all the info you all have posted here. Makes the choice much eassier.
My question is are the discount codes out yet for Feb for the general public.
Also is it worth it to joining like AAA to get better rates,
Any thoughts would be very Apprec.
