The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

I have read this thread since the beginning and it helped me a lot when I made plans for our vacation back in Feb. Now I am making last minute plans for a Dec. vacation. Well to make a long story short, we lost our oldest daughter (14) to cancer and now the youngest (11) has been sleeping with us more than not. Does anyone know if Pop will allow 3 in a King. I know the Kings aren't guaranteed, but I am going to try my hardest to get one if I know we can.

Tried to do a search, but no luck-do the Pop rooms have a hairdryer & iron? We leave in 11 hours!

I stayed @ Pop for one night this pass labor day week and yes, they do have a hairdryer and iron in the room...have a great trip!

I just got back from Pop Sunday night. I had my laptop with me and it fit in the safe easily.

I read somewhere on these boards about bypassing the thermostat sensor in the rooms. The first step was to press the Power button and the down arrow button at the same time. There was just one problem with that. There is no Power button. :confused3

I had the same problem @ CR, my dh hated the sensor and we couldn't figure it out! :confused3

Thanks! :thumbsup2 I knew someone here would know!

I know this has been asked on here, but I can't get the thread search to work, so I guess I'll ask anyway!

What drinks are available with the refillable mugs at POP? We've never done the mug refills before (didn't know they existed until recently), and DH specifically wanted to know if milk was included?

Thanks in advance!
Erica

Are the busses still horribly busy at POP? Last year, we never really had a chance to sit down at night. This time around next September, we'll have a baby. Thanks!

It's basically soda (Coke, Sprite, punch, etc), Coffee, Tea, Iced Tea, Hot Chocolate and Frozen Cokes (at POP). Milk is NOT included.

We were there last Christmas and found the buses to be no more crowded than those for any other resort at the end of the day. During the day, we found them to be pretty reasonable. And, they seemed to come quicker than those for some other resorts (could just be my imagination, of course). We stayed at WL this summer and whenever we left a park at park closing, the buses were crowded.
I am at the age now where I usually don't have to give up my seat, or am offered one ;) - but DH and DS usually end of standing on any bus that is even slightly crowded, so that little kids and moms can sit down. I really didn't find the Pop buses to be a problem at all (but I wasn't travelling with a small child, either.). The only issue I had with POP is the bus shelters are always the farthest away from the park entrance.....that is a bummer at the end of a long day/night.

Have they changed the design or colors of the mugs yet? They were the same in 2004 and 2005, and although I really don't like the designs, I would re-buy them for a 3rd time next year if they were the same. I am just hoping for some different mugs when we go next September. We have way too many of these same ones floating around our house from our previous two trips. I would love to see something different next year!

Tinan: I know your question has been answered. I just wanted to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your older daughter. Maybe your 11 year old will be comfortable sleeping (or falling asleep) with you and then you could get to your bed?

Does anyone know if ar Pop with a CS you can have the milkshake as your drink?? We plan on getting the refillable mugs and so wont need a regular drink, but a milkshake would be sooo nice!!

The mugs have changed. It's basically the same as my 2004 mug, just slightly different. You now have a choice of handle and lid colors. They have blue, red, and orange. Maybe more, I'm not sure. I know when we were there before it was only orange.

No milkshakes, or milk in the refillable mugs. The only options for those mugs are apple juice, slushies, lemonade and sodas (coke products).

they can get pretty crowded. The buses did not bother me much when i was there though. The only thing i would do differently is bring an umbrella stroller(one with a basket that reclines and has a sun shade). I had a light weight stroller so it was not too bad but a little harder to get on the bus with. My DH and i did not mind waiting for another bus if we felt we would not get a seat but only had to do this about once or twice during our week long stay. Just make sure you leave the parks a few min before the parade ends or position yourself by the exit and you will be ok.

Has anyone used the TS for CS trade offered at Pop yet? Not that I WANT to, but we may end up with an extra TS.

Does anyone on here have directions to POP from the airport (MCO)? I thought there used to be directions on this thread somewhere, but haven't been able to successfully do a search...I remember getting off at Osceloa Parkway & I'm fine once at that point. Can anyone help? :teeth: :goodvibes

Here is a link to a great map site that I really loved before I had ever been. Gives you a great feel of the area around Disney and Universal and has directions and information from MCO including a walk through if you check the links under the British Flag on the first page :) .

Hope it helps!

Anybody stayed at the Pop during Pop Warner? We will be there this year and so I am really wondering what are experience will be like. We don't mind teenagers and love the family atmos of the Pop but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips about when it was crowded in the food court and such. I've read that it's most crowded/mental during the morning and the parks feel the effect later in the day. We have requested a quiet room in 50's but then got the latest discount which in order to get it, we had to change to a prefered room and then we have to change to a standard in the middle of our trip. Is the 50's building the best to aim for? We have always really liked that area during the previous two trips :thumbsup2 .

Thanks for any info anyone can give :).
