The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

Hi. We'll be staying at Pop from 11/30-21/15. I've read all 75 pages here and still have a few questions:

1.) I've heard people talking about the 'Pop Warner' crowd. When are they there, where are they from, and are they rowdy??

2.) I still am unsure when the buses STOP running at the end of the day. I think I read that they stop running from DTD to the resorts at around 2 a.m. We'd like to stick around in the parks after they close instead of fighting the stampedes after the nightly events. a) when do the parks kick people out? b) when do the last buses leave from the parks to return to POP?

3.) I've heard people talk about email codes and profiles. How does one go about getting email codes from Disney, and what are "household profiles"??

That's all for now. Thanks in advance!

Also, if I could ask - I've gotten our tickets from AAA, and they've sent lanyards and a starter pin with each. I've heard, of course, about the pins, but I didn't know there was a birthday-specific one. The only birthday in our party that is close to October is my mom's, and, of everyone going, I would love for her to get the little extra bit of attention; how does the pin work?

This birthday pin is different from the pins people wear on their lanyards. Go to Guest Services at any of the theme parks (I got Jessie's at MGM) and ask for the birthday pin. I will see if I can post a pic of it. It is a large pin/button that says Today Is My Birthday. The best news? It's free! My dd got a kick out of everyone wishing her Happy Birthday. On a couple of attractions, the CM pulled her up front and announced to the crowd that it was her birthday. I thought she would be embarrassed (12 yrs old) but she loved the attention.

We have stayed at All-Star before but I don't remember too much about it (we usually stay at OKW but are out of points) and we have a quick trip planned for the end of July with DH, DS and his girlfriend and myself so my question is can we fit a twin blow up mattress someplace in the room? Thanks for the help.

That would be a tight fit! A very tight fit!
The rooms are small....so small that when you open the door...the door hits the bed closest to it!

Perhaps some one who already did this can give you better advice.

Have a great time!

Maybe in the sink area extending towards the tv? I don't see where else there would be room for a twin mattress, but I haven't tried it either.

Hopefully someone else will post if they have been able to fit one!

Ok, so do you take your luggage to the front desk or do they come and get it? Sorry if this sounds so dumb, but this is our first time at a value.

Also, will they bring it to your room when it arrives? And what about your carry-ons? When we arrive our room probably won't be ready. I know they'll hold them, but will they deliver them when we can get in our room? Thanks!

Sorry, but does anyone know the answer to this DME question? THanks!

Thank you so much ~ I would love to do that for my mom. :)

Hi Michelle!

Yes, the Magical Express will deliver your luggage to your room when it is ready. You can also have Luggage Services pick up your luggage on your check out day, whether you are in your room or not. I did not fly a participating airline so my next step was to get my luggage at luggage Services after I did my last day of shopping and bring it to the ME bus.

If you are on a participating airline I believe you get your luggage and bring it to the Airline Check in desk in the lobby whenever you want that day. Then when it is time for your ME back you just get on and your luggage meets you at home.

Hope that helps a little!
Mike

That helps me a lot! I'm trying to figure how our last day is going to work for us.

Does POP offer this? IF they do, what time is it and how much extra do they charge? Thank you!

SolitaryPhoenix - have you checked out the free dining plan for your trip? Call your AAA agent.

I'm actually doing all the planning myself, and just ordered the tickets from AAA. I've used AAA to book a Delta Queen cruise, but didn't bother with this, since it was just a matter of resort rooms and tickets. :) I was going to get the Disney Dining Experience membership to get the 20% discount; what is the free dining plan? Free is always good...

We've stayed alot at the All-Star hotels lately - can't beat the cheaper room rates - it depends on the configuration of the room you get -some are slightly different- it will be tight, but it's only to sleep, so you won't be opening the outside door. Probably will fit next to the window - or just move the chairs & table - i'd rather see the bed there, than near the bathroom - in case someone has to go in the middle of the night. I think you'll be okay with it. It's flexable!

Check out the "FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan" thread on the restaurants forum. If you check in between 8/21 and 10/4, stay 3 nights or longer, and buy at least a 1 day ticket, each person receives 1 snack, 1 counter meal, and 1 table service meal per day for FREE!!!!

Mike,

Just curious - what do you mean when you say "your luggage meets you at home" ??? On our next WDW trip, we are flying out of Logan (Boston) as the air deals were decent (prefer Green in Warwick due to a good chance of "non-stops", but that is another story). We are flying AA I believe, and of course on the way down to FL, our luggage will (hopefully) be on the same flight as us. We also will be using the DME both ways. Is it your impression that for the flight home, our luggage may arrive back in Boston before us and just "hang out" on the luggage carrier waiting for us? Our flight back from FL leaves at 4ish in the afternoon however we have to officially check out of POP at 11 or so, which is when we will check our luggage in with the ME people (at POP).

I also read here somewhere that WDW offers a check-out service whereby luggage may be picked up directly from the room on the morning of check-out if using the ME - is this the service you menioned from "Luggage Services"? Is this something that one would just have to arrange the night before check-out? I am using a participating airline, so hopefully all will run smooth with the check-in and out. It would be great to not have to lug it down to the main desk on the day of checking out....

Also, how far in advance to the flight time does the ME drive you back to the airport? I can't imagine getting to the airport too early and sitting there for hours when I could still be at the parks or shopping.

Thanks...

Lori

I think he simply means that once you check your luggage at the resort for the return flight that they will drop it off for you at the airport, just like you didn't have to get it from baggage claim when you arrived.

I'm not sure about the rest of your question.

I would also like to know how early they take you back. We don't leave till 9 and if I don't have to check my luggage and I check in on-line or at the kioski (sp) I don't want to be there 2.5 hrs early either. It will be very hard trying to keep an 15 mth old enertained for that long.

Wow! Thank you; I'll definitely check that out. :Pinkbounc

For medical reasons, this is really important. I understand there are some rooms, but I know smoking in front of rooms happens, as does smoke coming from close smoking rooms. So, are there any buildings or even floors that are kept as truly nonsmoking?

Thanks.

Michelle: You might find that you will need the 2.5 hours at the airport. It is my understanding they make one drop off somewhere near the "center" of the terminal which may be at the opposite end of where you need to be. You will then be on your own to get to your designated carrier .. get through security .. etc. It must be a scheduling nightmare for Disney to get everyone where they need to be and on time. I wouldn't want to cut it too close in getting to the airport. If you request a later time .. come upon an accident .. have people who are slow getting on the bus .. etc ... you might run into problems. I'd rather be too early than too late.

Hi ~ I'm going to be at PC October 3rd thru the 8th, and am very much looking forward to it! I'm giving the trip to my family [mom, sister, her four kids] as a big birthday present to them all, since we have some 'biggies' this year - mom turning 70 [Sept], niece turned sweet 16 [Jan], oldest nephew turned 18 [April] and graduated [June], middle nephew will be 13 next month. I'm paying for the rooms and tickets, we're all paying for our own food and extras. I want this trip to be amazing, not only because it's a huge birthday present to my family, but because this is really the first time most of them have been to WDW, much less all the parks and staying on-site! I went to MK once last year with friends in Sept 04, and then I brought my youngest nephew to MK, staying over at PC one night in Nov 04, but that's pretty much it! I love Disney, and I want to share that fabulous feeling with my family. :goodvibes

Anyway, I'm not sure how to ask this without sounding greedy, so I'm just gonna spit it out: I've seen posts about people getting 'special' things when they've notified Disney there's a birthday person in the traveling party. So first, if I let PC know the reason for the trip -namely multiple milestone birthdays- do you think they'd do something special for them? Second, if they won't, will I be able to get something special set-up in the rooms before check-in?

We stayed at the PC in Dec 2004 and were celebrating my birthday. When we checked in we told the CM that my bithday was happening on Dec 8th and I guess she noticed I was wearing an eeyore t-shirt. Well, on the night on my bithday, we came home from the park and in my hotel room was a signed photo from all the pooh characters attached to 3 happy birthday balloons. Needless to say I was very happy since I know this doesn't happen to everyone. This year we will be celebrating both my birthday and my Best Friends Son. So we will see what happens... Also you can use www.disneyflorist.com and have flowers delivered on the day also. Good Luck!!!
