Michelle: You might find that you will need the 2.5 hours at the airport. It is my understanding they make one drop off somewhere near the "center" of the terminal which may be at the opposite end of where you need to be. You will then be on your own to get to your designated carrier .. get through security .. etc. It must be a scheduling nightmare for Disney to get everyone where they need to be and on time. I wouldn't want to cut it too close in getting to the airport. If you request a later time .. come upon an accident .. have people who are slow getting on the bus .. etc ... you might run into problems. I'd rather be too early than too late.
I have to agree with at least two hours before the flight - it took longer to load the bus, and then drive to airport - and then wait and wait for the Security check-through. At least Security learned how to queue like Disney. We flew out at 6pm - and this was the longest wait.

Hi Lori,

By "meets you at home" I meant that they handle checking your luggage in at Pop, so when DME drops you at MCO you don't have to get it again. So your luggage is on your flight like normal, you just didn't have to carry it there yourself. (Like I did, and the Southwest convenient check in desk the DME tells you about is not so convenient on a hot day when you are dragging your luggage alone. I wondered why there were no skycaps at DME's return spots, it was weird.)

As for luggage pick up, I am not sure of the DME luggage pick up is the same as the regular bell service, but I did set up my bell service the night before. It is recommended you call the night before but luggage services always seems to act like you are weird for calling then to me. Hehehe!

I see that others have helped you with the arrival time question too!

Have a great trip! Pop rocks!

Mike,

Just curious - what do you mean when you say "your luggage meets you at home" ??? On our next WDW trip, we are flying out of Logan (Boston) as the air deals were decent (prefer Green in Warwick due to a good chance of "non-stops", but that is another story). We are flying AA I believe, and of course on the way down to FL, our luggage will (hopefully) be on the same flight as us. We also will be using the DME both ways. Is it your impression that for the flight home, our luggage may arrive back in Boston before us and just "hang out" on the luggage carrier waiting for us? Our flight back from FL leaves at 4ish in the afternoon however we have to officially check out of POP at 11 or so, which is when we will check our luggage in with the ME people (at POP).

I also read here somewhere that WDW offers a check-out service whereby luggage may be picked up directly from the room on the morning of check-out if using the ME - is this the service you menioned from "Luggage Services"? Is this something that one would just have to arrange the night before check-out? I am using a participating airline, so hopefully all will run smooth with the check-in and out. It would be great to not have to lug it down to the main desk on the day of checking out....

Also, how far in advance to the flight time does the ME drive you back to the airport? I can't imagine getting to the airport too early and sitting there for hours when I could still be at the parks or shopping.

Thanks...

Lori

Just booked POP Dec 31 - Jan 7 (dec 31 at Holiday rate  ) and then Jan 1-7 at value rate :)

1. I requested non-smoking due to one child having asthma. Then I requested the tramp building (top floor) in the 50s. Silly me, does anyone know if the tramp building/top floor is non-smoking? It is MUCH more important that I get non-smoking then a certain building/section. CRO told me that the non-smoking request is guaranteed due to a medical condition (asthma) and that everything else is only a request. Which is fine by me as long as we have non-smoking the other requests are not nearly as important.

2. I paid on my credit card for Dec 31 (since you need a one night deposit). Jan 1-7 is actually a seperate ressie ( a continuing ressie to get the value vs. holiday rate) . I was told that I did not have to pay anything on this ressie yet (it is on hold for me) as long as I make a payment before July 27th. Does this make sense?

3. The second ressie (Jan 1-7) is at value rack rate (79US per night plus tax). The CRO cm told me that if a AAA/CAA rate becomes available for this ressie that I may apply it to this ressie. Do you agree? Or will I have to cancel this ressie and book a new one with an AAA rate (if one becomes available). That is why the CM told me not to put any $$ down now and hopefully I will be able to apply an AAA rate to it prior to July 27th. Does this sound right to you?

4. Can I add another person to an existing ressie? Currently we have 1 adult, 2 children in the room but may possibly be adding another adult (my mom, different last name).

5. I don't have an AP but am consdiering getting CAA for the possible discount. Does anyone know of any other discounts I could use with this ressie at this time?

Sorry so long.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the "FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan" thread on the restaurants forum. If you check in between 8/21 and 10/4, stay 3 nights or longer, and buy at least a 1 day ticket, each person receives 1 snack, 1 counter meal, and 1 table service meal per day for FREE!!!!

Surprisingly, I have not seen many postings on this promotion. This is the Disney Dining Package for FREE for all guests in the room. I called an changed my res from a room only to a Magic your Way package, and now the Dining is free for my family of 4 for the 8 night stay in Sept/Oct. You MUST call and request this BEFORE 7/3(this Sunday), so if anyone is planning a trip to arrive between 8/21 and 10/4, call by Sunday to get the free dining...

Not sure if it received much attention on this thread but the offer has been all over the other boards in recent weeks. I'm frustrated because I wish to extend my package by one night and find that it's "sold out". I can pay rack rate of $110.35 for one nights lodging (no meals) but YIKES .... don't care to spend so much for just one night. Call me cheap .... hopefully someone will cancel.

IF you're flying on one of the participating airlines, you have to bring the luggage yourself, along with everyone else in your group (with ID's) for check in. It's just like checking in at the airport, so someone else isn't allowed to check your luggage for you, since you have to answer the questions about if you packed it yourself and was it out of your site since you packed it.

We just got bk 6/26 and we had to be @ the bus 3 hrs before our flight for MCO-Delta (participating airline)...which none of us liked, but we understood (kind of) better safe than sorry when it comes to flying. We had breakfast (our flight was @ 9:10am and yes we were on the bus @ 6:10 :scared1: ) and browsed some of the shops before going thru security.

We had to take our luggage that am and have it put on the bus to take us to the airport, then wait for the luggage to get off the bus and ck it @ MCO. It was a pain in the butt, but we didn't have to pay seperately for the shuttle and for us (@ least this trip) we were all about value w/our group of 9.

I liked our room ok, I guess I wish I could have had the rooms we had on the cruise, but I'm sure you can't always get what you wa-aant (there's supposed to be a song in there :rotfl: ) and pay for $.

If you guys can remember any specific ?'s that you have, I'll try my best.

We loved DisneyWorld, but I guess the cruises got us so spoiled to not having to walk around the parks. I workout, but my dogs were killing me and we didn't even stay out all day. We left and rested, but still the waiting in lines was pretty constant, but it is that time of year. People were EVERYWHERE!

Hope that helped and isn't too discouraging!

I found this on a British TA site.
Pop Century Resort features lodge buildings and furnishings inspired by different eras of pop culture icons, which celebrate the decade they gained their greatest popularity. The resort features two wings “Legendary Years” of the 1900s-1940s and the “Classic Years” of the 1950s-1990s. Each one will is a separate experience. There are three themed pools for each wing; the Classic Years feature pools shaped like a bowling pin, a flower and a computer, while the Legendary Years’ pools are shaped like a crossword puzzle, a soda bottle and highway sign.
I know there are no plans to continue the Legendary Years at the moment, but I was interested in finding some sketches or something that describes what they will look like. So far this is all I can find. They make it sound like you can stay there now. LOL

Sorry, jsut re-posting this in hopes of getting some response.

Hi,
I was wondering about which buildings are non-smoking? Are there buldings like that or are there just non-smoking floors?

Thanks

:3dglasses Building A in the 50's building is a non smoking bldg. I believe each century has a smoking and a non smoking bldg!
Annie :wave2:

If you are referring to building 1 with the Lady Icon, there are smoking rooms here. I have stayed on the 3rd & 4th floor in smoking rooms. There are non smoking rooms on these floors, but not the whole building.

Ok, so looking at this map, which bldg. would I request to have non-smoking, and the view of the Epcot fireworks AND not be too far from the Everything Pop?
(Is there anything wrong with asking for the moon? LOL :confused3 )

#3 Tramp building at POP, how is this building configured smoking vs. non-smoking wise???? I have requested a room in this bldg. top floor, but now realize I have no idea whether the top floor is smoking or non (NEED non due to asthma in the family). Also, are there ANY buildings/floors at POP which are completely non smoking. If so, I will request this, since this is WAY more important then a possible view of Epcot.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

BLDG C FOR VIEW OF EPCOT FIREWORKS
BLDG A FOR CLOSEST TO EVERYTHING POP

EACH BLDG HAS NON SMOKING ROOMS.

However its really not that big of a difference If you get Bldg C..its possibly a xtra 20 feet to walk to Everything POP.
I read these boards before I went to the PC, and thought it was HUUUUUUGGGGEEEE. Upon arrival at PC, I was suprised just how close everything is.

Looking at the map, Pop does seem very big, but things aren't as spread out as it looks.

If you NEED a non-smoking room for medical reasons, make sure you tell the CM that when you make your reservations. DH has asthma and can't be in a smoking room, so I always make sure they know that. If you don't tell them it's for medical reasons, it's only a request and you might not get it.

OK. We're looking at staying from 1/2-1/16/06 at POP. We were going to stay from 11/30-12-15/05, but we decided that the POP Warner crowd would not be a POSITIVE experience to our vacation ;) Anywho, is it less busy in January? I heard that the marathon is during the first/second week...how does this affect the parks? Is it pretty busy in the resorts? Thanks.
