I understand there are no Bell Hops at POP so is it still possible to have my

Yes, Disney will transfer your luggage between resorts!

Hi I am back we were staying in the 80's and it was great just how i expected it just like the All Star Resorts also while we were staying there some strange going ons were happening in the new Pop Century hotel to be a lot of buses started parking there and there was a Cast Member Meeting also Disney are looking for more Cast Members. Could this now be opening?

Thanks for the tips! Me, , dh ds2 , ds4 , sis and mom are heading out in 20 days! We have booked a 2 connecting preferred rooms. I am wondering if I should try to get us one room with a king size bed and one with two double beds. I am packing a tent for my boys to sleep in (we have done this on several trips and it works great, very small to pack) and wonder if we would have more room for that in the kings bed room. Any thoughts?

Good question! Also has anyone had a problem with getting connecting rooms? We want a D/D kids and King?

Page 2 of this thread, post #19 shows a room layout map. There are K/dd connecting rooms in each bldg. Don't know how hard they are to get.

This was our experience in May:
I called the night before our check out to tell Bell Services that our luggage would need to go to the Swan. They were very nice and we agreed to have the luggage ready by 10:30 am. Next day we didn't actually finish packing until about 10:45. Bell Services hadn't show up yet, but we left a tip on the luggage (and wrote "Swan" on all the tags), then enjoyed the parks until about 4pm. When we checked into the Swan, we went to our room and called Bell Services, but the luggage hadn't arrived. Oh well, we went on over to MGM, returning to the room about 11pm. Still no luggage!! So Bell services at Swan called Pop and found the luggage was still sitting there!! Took about 45minutes to get it to us.

My recommendations:
1-Make arrangements with Bell services, but call the morning of departure to confirm.
2-Make up some special tags for your luggage ahead of time that say "Boardwalk" in bold letters.
3-If luggage isn't at destination by a reasonable time, have that Bell Services call Pop to confirm it's on the way!
4-Have fun!

The Value resorts don't have Bell Services, they have Luggage Assistance. Pretty much this means the service is FAR less personalized than at the more expensive resorts. Yes, your luggage will be delivered to your room, and picked up if you request, but more or less on a schedule (e.g. every half hour, someone from Luggage Assistance picks up the ready bags from a building or buildings), or Guests can go to the counter and borrow a luggage cart to move it themselves.
Honestly, I wouldn't just leave my luggage in a Value room. I'd wait for someone to come get it, so you know it's at least started on its journey.

When we switched between 2 deluxe resorts on 2 different trips, we were not allowed to leave the luggage in the room - we had to stay until bell services arrived for pick-up. And, we had to call for it once we were actually in our new room. No problems, but it's evidently handled differently at the deluxe. I know when we stayed at POP in December, our luggage was in the room before we got back from the parks. That was a nice treat.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if I can handle wading through 130-some pages of questions and answers so here's my question!

Are the modem ports in Pop dialup only? I ask because I have a cable modem at home, and no dial up access... and really don't want to have to go out and get dial up service just for the 5 days we're there. We're taking a laptop with wireless access if that helps any! Thanks!

My experience has all been excellent with luggage service. When I have transferred, I have left my luggage in the room, and it showed up in the next, no problems. I do try to make it easy. I have all the bags together, and labeled for the destination resort and our last name. I have done this a few times, and it has always worked out great.

I have a few questions. Can anyone tell me how bus service has been? We usually get to the parks about 30 minutes before opening, then return back to the hotel around noon time. Can we expect a huge line for the bus at those times?

I've read about the frozen coke. Can we use the refillable mugs for those?

Last question. We'd like a standard room. What would be a good request to be close to food court without getting a preferred room?

I can answer a few of these questions!
We were there end June-July and had a King room that was connected to a room with two doubles.. so these rooms do exist. We were in the 60's building fourth floor facing the Hippy Dippy pool. (We had not paid for preferred room but had requested a King room, top floor and we must have got lucky! ) I would think there is enough room for a tent in the King room but not in a room with two doubles. I would say u could probably squeeze (and it would just fit) a double bed next to the king in the King room. I hope that gives an idea of the space in the room!

Hoping someone can help me out. I can't believe that I just found this board, I am in love with it already. This thread is enormous and I have done a little searching (don't see ones this big on the other boards I visit). I just booked last night for five days at POP, we leave on Friday. I know very last minute and I feel a little crazy for not planning a darn thing except for flight and hotel (still need to get park tickets).

Are there hairdryers and iron/ironing boards in the room?

Also, do they have single serving milks, water bottles and fruit available in the courtyard?

You will have a great time.
The room has hairdryers but I am not sure about irons. I think so but I would call the resort to be sure.

In the food court there is plenty of self serve items. Beside food ready to eat they have a section with milk in little cartons, water bottles, fruit, snacks and breakfast goodies you can buy and eat in your room.


Have fun we have 54 days to wait for our next POP trip! Can't wait.

I think there was an iron and ironing board in our room. There was definately a hairdryer.

Niks mom- We used the same touring plan as you when we went- We were at park opening on our park days. We aimed to be at the Pop Bus stop at about 8am. There was never more than 10 people in front of us in the queue at this time. Buses came every 10 minutes (we never waited more than 10 minutes and we went end of june- beginning july), if you were lucky you only waited a few minutes until one arrived! Being at the bus stop at 8ish, we got to the parks around 8.30am which gave us plenty of time to walk from the bus stops and be at the front of the queues for park opening! One day we got up a bit late and arrived at Pop bus stop at 8.20ish and we were still at the parks before opening.
Getting up early worked really well for us- The Food court is really quiet between 7-8 and we didn't have to queue for breakfast! On our day off from the parks, we slept in and were at the Food court at 9.30am and it was soo busy! I could not believe the difference waking up early made!
If you get there at opening, the parks are not that busy and you can get a lot done before midday. We also left after lunch and the buses were often empty returning back to Pop so you should have no problems!

You can use your refillable mug for frozen cola. They also had frozen raspberry (It was frozen blue colour, i think it was raspberry?). There was also apple juice, hot chocolate which was nice in the evening!
As for the room, we stayed in the 60s- which was extremely close to the Food court. However all the buildings are very close (all within 5 minutes) and we wouldn't have minded being in any of the buildings (we were lucky and got upgraded at check-in!). Id say the 80s building was next closest if I had to choose (we also found the swimming there to be much quieter than the pool in the 60s).. but really there isn't much in it! Id just go with the decade that you like the theming the best!

Some buildings are entirely non-smoking; a few are smoking-optional but not EVERY room. I think one side, or one floor or something... See page 108 of this thread for specific information, but you could request a non-smoking room in a smoking-optional building and she could go to the smoking side or floor and smoke... or there are ashtrays at ALL the elevators (but non-smokers get upset ) ... or any poolside table or outside-Everything-Pop table that has an ashtray... or anywhere away from people
