WDW trip w/a stay at POP! :cool1: This board very helpful, but one other question. I'm not a smoker, she is, so we would be requesting a nonsmokers room. Where can she go to smoke? :wizard:

Last Sept. when we stayed at POP my DH went out to the walkway/balcony to smoke. A mousekeeper even gave him an ashtray to use out there, which he kept outside the door.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

does anyone who has been at pop century lately know if they provide towels around the pool areas? thanks!!!

Last time we were here in June, no. You had to use the bath towels from your room & then call housekeeping to bring more to your room.

When We Were there there was towels at the area where you get the elevator behind the big character or object in a cart

Just got back from Pop yesterday and this is true. I saw towel carts on the ground floor on the way to the pool every day.

Wonderful experience at Pop - there were (are, some are still there) 30-some from my family there. I would not want to be poolside because of the noise, but maybe some people like that. There were still people playing in the pool around 2:45 a.m. after MK Extra Magic HOurs. I don't think people can complain about noise before midnight since those are the posted hours, but almost 3 a.m. is absurd.

Anyway, food was good (veggie lasagna the only bad thing we had), refillable mugs a lifesaver, lifeguards fantastic, cast members helpful in every way and rooms just what you need, except for the loud volume when you turned on the TV and some early visits form housekeeping. The buses were fantastic, only waited more than five minutes once or twice.

This was my first Disney trip in 33 years and the first-ever for my wife and almost 6-year-old. :woohoo: Will definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to stay at Pop Century.

Thanks for all the info....I really didn't want to have to bring beach towels with me for the pool. Now we have more room for stuff on the way back.

Questions about Pop Century pools... can you bringf rom home a beach ball for a child to play with in the pool? What about a swim ring for a child to use? also a child size float, looks like a mattress that you lay on and float around in the pool on? Thanks so much :cool1:

Hi Regularguycolumn and :welcome: to the DIS Boards. Glad to hear you had a great time at POP. We had a similar fun experience and wouldn't hestitate to go back there, either.

Hi everyone! We just switched our resort from ASMO to POP (because of the Fantasia pool being refurbished on our dates). Me and my 7 year old DD will be at POP Oct 26-Oct 31. :cool1: Need to find out as much as I can about POP! It looks kind of neat, my DD thinks the pools and fountains look neat. I like the lake. We're a little disappointed to not be at ASMO, but POP looks fun too! :)

What?? I LOVE that veggie lasagna! :)

It was my wife, not me, but I take her word for it.

There were beach balls in the pool all the time, not sure if people brought them or if they were there. And swim rings should be OK - they have life jackets for you to use right by the pool.

Hmm... have you checked out the first and last few pages of this thread? There's TONS of information in this FAQ alone :)

Do you happen to know which buildings are entirely non-smoking? I tried to find this info but no luck. Thanks
No, but if you see page 108 of this thread, there's a list in one of the posts on that page; or simply request a room in a non-smoking building.

Just wanted to say that we requested extra towels for swimming for 8 people and they were delivered within minutes. The service was excellent! :thumbsup2

Have fun!

do you think the child size float will be ok to bring to use in the pool? also I heard they have a kiddie pool, do you know where that is located?

I believe the kiddie pool is near the hippie dippie pool.

you cannot bring a swim ring from home for use in any of the pools for a child? What about a mattress that a child can lay on and float around in the pool on?
