on our last trip in '08, my DH wasn't with us the whole trip due to a convention....I used some of his credits with no problems! you can use your credits in which ever way works best for you....you can use TS for all three meals in one day if you want....would think though with your kids so young they could share a meal or the baby could eat off of yours!

Hi, there!

I have a question regarding food selections at Pop's Food Court. I've read that at restaurants, you just mention your food restrictions and then speak with a chef...but I was wondering about when I need to dine at Pop's food court. Are there many vegan selections? I am not able to eat any dairy, and have to limit my consumption of animal protein to next to nil. Any tips on what I could order?
Any tips for me at Pop's food court? Or should I just plan to bring my own food for these meals?

TIA!

:)HI! Welcome to the boards!
I just got back from POP...celebrating my 40th year of WDW dream vacations!!!!
I will TRY to be brief....
I ALSO cannot eat Meat (purine protein) due to Kidney Stones...
I ALSO have many food allergies...Cannot have any "coconut" in any way shape of form...I contacted the Special Dietary needs website on WDW.com....and received a phone call and an email from the Sous-Chef of the Pop Century Food Court (everything POP)!
Chef Dan Parsons is very thoughtful and caring about allergies, with some of his children having extreme reactions in the past.... Just ask for him ,,,or any of the chefs when you get there,,,,they will ALL help you in knowing what is good for your specific allergy. I was surprised one day when 2 of the other chefs knew of my allergies,,,,and actually listed them for me without having to tell them.....they were ALL aware of the concern....VERY AMAZING attention to detail .....Very impressive.
I would check out the soups...the only food court with at least 3 to choose from ...they have great mac and cheese,,,they offer fish,,,an amazing veggie lasagna, flatbread pizza,,,just modify these to your liking,,,they are made to order.....Veggie Burgers....Omlets.....Great Side Dishes,,,Green Beans,,Mashed potatoes,,,Lots to choose from....
Have fun and enjoy....
Oh,,,and for any of you allergic to coconut.....The Nestle Hot Chocolate, and the Coffee Creamer are LOADED with coconut oil............go figure

Did my on-line check in this morning!!!

7 days from now we will be on the plane....10 days until WDW :cool1:

Will be looking for you. :goodvibes

I don't think there is anyway to know for sure until you check in - but I would bet that they will do everything they can to keep you in the same room. :) The CM's at POP are wonderful and very accomodating.:)

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

You can call and add a request - but it is my understanding that room assignments are now done by a computer. It won't hurt to put in a request - I also think online check in makes no difference when it comes to room reqests. We checked in on line this past August with a room request - when we arrived we were not in that section. I simply asked the CM at the online check in desk and he happily switched us. :)

hmmm. I am not sure about your situation. It is my understanding that you can only order the amount of meals based on the KTTW card. In other words, if you show 2 adults and 1 child on the dining plan, then that is the amount of credits you will be allowed to use at one time. That being said I am not 100% sure. Perhaps someone on the dining plan thread can confirm.

When I went with a group of Dev. Disbled there was a total of 10 of us !! We used 2 cards each day . We did it by rooms so the 2 guys sharing a room gave us one of their cards each day and we used 10 TS credits and 10 CS credits on each room every day , As we were there for 5 days this worked out perfectly , we never once had a problem using 5 or 10 credits on a room card that said 2 Adults !So if the 3 of you who have ddp order 3 times in 1 day as long as you have the credits available you should be fine .

One adult can get the 2 adult and 1 kid meal and another adult or child with their room card can stand behind and let the CM ring up the kids meal with their KTTW card.

This is what we plan to do most of the time. :) My 2 year old eats a ton all the time. Always. The 5 year old, is picky and it's hit or miss. But, I'm thinking that he can eat 4 chicken nuggets, or an entire PBJ sandwich. I'm sure that is what he'll order. lol Most of the time I probably will share my meal with him but I might want a salad now and again. :)

But, good to know that I can go through the line also and just pick up another kids meal if we need to.

Thanks everyone!! :)

We LOVE our portable cooler like this but.....JUST BE CAREFUL and DO NOT leave it plugged in for any extended period of time when your car is not running. We went to a softball tournament, turned off our car to go into a game (2 hours) but left the cooler plugged in. We were going to check into our hotel right after the game and use it there. When we got into the car, it had zapped our battery :headache: We learned our lesson and now when we are traveling we just unplug it when we go in anywhere and it keeps everything cooled, then we plug it back in when we get back in the car.

I've heard this happen to my good friends as well! I'll have to leave a note on the dashboard so I don't forget to unplug it--it's something I could see myself doing and stranding us hours outside Orlando!:rotfl2:

This was probably covered somewhere in the 142 pages of posts  but are all the rooms refurbed now or only certain buildings? :)

Hello everyone!

It looks like I have a lot of reading to do! It's been a while since I've stayed at POP. I spent a week there in 06' and a long weekend there in 08', both prior to joining DVC.

I can't wait to dive in to this thread and rediscover pop :goodvibes

does anyone have a guess as to if online checkin is the same as regular checkin - meaning requests that were added prior by a CM will still be "looked at" by someone or something or said another way, are your chances of getting your requests the same with online versus regular?

Hi! Would love your advice... Staying @ pop for 2 nights then going to BC. Should I Shorten my pop stay or just stay the 2 nights. Is pop great??? Thanks!!!

Read the first 2 posts on page 1. Tons of information right there.

Also, I know this isn't the dinning thread. But, I am so confused. This is the first time we have been on a dinning plan. We of course have it for dh and I, and my ODS (age 5) but not for YDS (age 2).

When dh booked it they said they didn't care how we used the plan, that once our credits were gone.... they were gone. We could use them all in a day if we wanted. :lmao:

But, then reading the dinning thread it seems like they do put a restriction on it. I was thinking if both my boys seem very hungry that I could order 2 kids meals... and end up paying OOP later on if needed. But, they are saying since we only have one kid on our plan, than we can only order one kid meal. Is this true?

It's not a huge deal b/c well, my 5 year old eats nothing most of the time.. but just in case. Thought I should find out.

For CS, some CM's will only allow you to get what is listed on the card, but you can go back or split up like others have said. For a TS, it will depend on the restuarant or server. They are only "supposed" to allow you to get the meals listed, but some will let you use a an extra meal.

Why would you shorten it? Read the first page, it gives lots of info on everything. A lot of people here prefer Pop over moderates and even deluxes.

Hi Jen!! how are the plans going?? are you getting packed yet?? I'm starting on the final stuff tomorrow! looking forward to meeting up with you, sorry about all the changes in your plans, but know you'll still have a magical trip!

Can you really see the fireworks from the 50s building? I think we stayed in the 90s areas all the times we have gone (Computer pool). I think it was a decent walk to the buses and food but no one cared. But I'd love a view of the fireworks if possible!!!

You can, but only certain rooms. We could actually see illuminations from our window w/o even going outside! (You only see the very top of the show, but its still cool.) I think there is a link to a map w/ "fireworks" view rooms in the first or second post on this thread...

Thank you for all the food info re: my vegan needs, GOOFYsince71!!! I really appreciate it!

oh my gosh...just found out from another thread about a drink you can get from "Petals" poolside bar...its called "The Lava Lamp"...mmmm why did I not know about this sooner!!!!! I believe it has Bacardi Limon, Blue Curacao, Sprite, Grenadine and Sour Mix in it....I will definitely be checking this out when Im there..37 days and counting.:hippie:
