We arrive in 2 weeks, 6 days! So excited!

Can anyone recommend a room/section closest to the main building that isn't preferred? I will be 30 weeks pregnant and I have some hip problems and want to be as close as we can get.
I know that sounds crazy, going to DW that pregnant and not walking super well. LOL Our main goal is to spend lots of time swimming and just a few of our 10 days at the parks. :)

We just returned home from our first stay at POP on Friday. We had a room in the 70's section on the first floor right next to the big Mickey phone. It was a great location for getting to the food court and the buses.

I would put in a request for the closest building/room due to medical reason, bad hip, we did this last time and got the most amazing spot.

our first trip together we were in building 2, behind the juke box on the ground floor, in the corner by the ice machine -- it was fine, the walk wasnt bad at all. our second trip this past october and we were in building 1 on the ground floor behind the "lady" icon, about halfway down the row - this was amazingly. about a 2 minute walk to the main building, but a 4-5 minute walk to the bus area.

our next trip in may will be with other members of my family, i'm hoping we get the same luck!

This thread rocks - I am so happy I found it. We arrive at Pop last day of April and because of this informative thread I have just requested bed rails. So exciting that my 'baby' (she is 2) can be in a big bed with her sister and I don't have to worry she will fall out!!! So much better then a pack and play. Of course I say that now, maybe I will want to confine her at the end of a long day, ha ha:cutie:

So glad the thread has been helpful! When you go to your room it is very possible the bed rails will not be there yet - not to worry! Simply hit housekeeping on the room phone and ask them to bring 2 up for you. No problem!:thumbsup2

Have a GREAT trip!! :lmao:

I have read every post on this thread now in the past 4 days! :) You guys are the best!

We are going to Pop May 29th - June 4th. We were going May 28th, but my brother decided that was the day that he was getting married (after moving the date 3 times over 2 years) so we pushed it back a day.

We have stayed at Pop before and we LOVED it. That was back in 08 when my older son was 2.5. He is now 5 and my baby will be turning two next month.

I have put bed rails on our reservation. We want (after reading this thread) a room where we can see the fireworks if at all possible. We'll probably be back and the boys asleep most nights, and it would be nice for dh and I to just stand outside our door and watch them.

We don't mind a walk from the room to anywhere, b/c well it's Disney! We figure we'll be walking!! Last time we were in the 70s on the back side and that seemed pretty close to everything.

Anyway, now I'm ready to start planning and get going! :)

We have requested 60's section lakeside the past 2 times and have gotten our request. I'm going to request the same for this year. You can't really see the fireworks well from building 4 beacuse we had a tree there/ Same when we stayed in building 5. But we like that it is close to the food court and buses. I think lakeside 50's is the best spot to see the fireworks.

Dh and I do the same we put the girls in bed and bring the chairs oout by the door and watch the bunnies and have a drink.

Ummm. Kelly? Did I miss something? ;) I could have sworn you were booked at CBR for your next trip....did you get bit by the POP bug again :rotfl:!

ETA- For those just reading this thread I did NOT mean bed bugs! Been to POP 3 times and never had a problem! Just didn't want to see a new thread on the Resort board saying someone on the POP thread got bit by bed bugs!!!!

Yep I'm back in full force. LOL I started at POP,CBR and we are back at POP. I couldn't do it. For one we are on the QSDP so the choices at CBR seem way limited to what we are use to. The pool seems neat at CBR but not worth the 750.00 more for the 10 days. And I actually think I would miss it.

I totally understand! Last Aug we got a PIN code for 40% off Deluxe - I spent weeks trying to convince my kids to try the Beach Club but they wanted NO part of it - They love:lovestruc POP. Then it dawned on me.. *duh* why am I trying to convince my kids to let me spend thousand more? They love POP and DH and I love POP - enough said. For our *surprise* trip this May I considered a different resort, but like you, I would truly miss POP.
And seeing that you are on the QSDP I can't think of a better resort that POP to take advantage of that. We stayed at POFQ and I was really dissapointed in the Food Court.
Anyway - Glad to have you back in the POP club. :grouphug:

We just got home last nite.......
The weather was beautiful 80's and Sunny:goodvibes
The crowds were just starting to come in for spring break

Hint...If you are planning on eating in "Everything Pop"
know that the earlier you go,,,the better....lunch,,,11...not bad
lunch @ 12:30 a madhouse.....dinner at 5:30-6pm....o.k.... dinner around 8pm....another crazy busy time!

Hint...if you are in line too long,,,remember to use a microwave to reheat your pasta etc.....they are right there after you pay..

Hint...remember the toaster has a setting for either bread or bagels...
toasting bread on the bagel setting WILL only toast one side...!!!
I tried to explain this to many people who didn't understand why their
toast was only toasted on one side!!:confused3

Hint...towels are in your room for the pool....don't walk over there and have
to go back to the room for your towels!!!!

Hint...there is a free safe in each room,,,with a key,,don't forget to empty it
And leave the key when checking out!!

Hint....Mug wash is great,,,but use the HOT water @ the coffee machine for
the "first" wash

Hint....IF YOU ARE on the QuickService Plan (counter service) and getting
tired of dessert (yes it happens) with EVERY CS meal,,,at Pop you
can tell the cashier you chose a Side salad for your dessert...Yep,,,
they WILL do it!!

Hint.....the Famous BRownie Sundae is HUGE....If you are on the QS (CS) plan,,,it IS
included,,,,just tell the cashier to stamp your receipt so that you can have
90 minutes to claim it!! You will need the time and space,,,trust me!!

Love the new tips Goofy! I can't wait to get back to Pop. DH and I are staying at AKL for our anniversary. He's never been to Pop but knows how much I love my Pop. We're going to stop at Pop one afternoon (between park hopping) so that I can my favorite Asian Chicken Salad. I'm possessed - I know. ::yes::

I have a trip planned for the half marathon next January. I signed up yesterday. :dance3: I usually go for 4th floor (quieter), 50's (love that era), and pool view (feel more secure when traveling solo) I'm going to need a quieter room since I have to get up at 2 am. Since I'll need to get to bed before the start of Illuminations but still don't want an isolated room....got any suggestions.

Hello Pop Veterans! Can't wait to go to Pop in August! One question: In 2009 I stayed at All Star Sports and they had the wonderful cookie ice cream sandwich available as a dessert on the dining plan. I have heard about the brownie sundae at Pop (thanks Goofy for those great hints) but is the sandwich also there? I just love choc. chip cookies and ice cream!:lovestruc:love:

Hi,

We will be there the same time!! We (me and DD 13) will leave Monday, May 30 through June 10th. So excited. Planning now. Not sure where we should ask to stay. Did not get a preferred room. What do you think? Seeing the fireworks would be nice. Do you plan out your days? I'm starting to look at these things now.

It isn't on the menu but that don't mean anything. Since there is alot missing from it. I do remeber last year the girls asking to get a icecream and the sundae they got all 4 of us could have eaten after dinner. Thing was huge with 3 scoops of icecream. But this was a snack credit not a desert I believe.

We also used 1 snack credit at Pop on what was supposed to be "an ice cream" and turned into a full-blown sundae. It was great!

We are going back again in August, can't wait. The only room request we are putting in is a room somehere in the 70's. We've done 50's, 60's and 80's/90's, so I want to finish the cycle :goodvibes

Hmmm I guess it all depends on your own perspective. The first time I stayed at the Pop, we had 2 young children with us, one 4 and one 10. We were in building 8, which is the only 90's building. We didn't have a problem walking around the sidewalk to the bus stop or to Classic Hall. DD4 was in a stroller obviously. We would not have considered letting them go to Classic Hall alone regardless of the distance. I guess it is all about what you're accustomed to and what you compare it to. Compared to our stays at OKW and SSR, building 8 at Pop is much closer to the bus and Classic Hall. Compared to Old Key West, Saratoga, Caribbean Beach, and Ft. Wilderness, Pop is small and compact. I guess no matter where you are staying, if you feel your walk is long, then you should take that into account when planning your exit, and don't use up your last gram of energy racing to the bus from the park.

Yes, it does depend on your own perspective. I have not stayed anywhere other than value resorts and we just find the preferred rooms much more convenient for us! :)

I didn't let them go alone at that time. We just had to make the trip too many times. We didn't get our money's worth for the mugs because it was just too far to go back and refill. Now that my son is 15, I will have no problem letting him run to the food court for refills on his own. :thumbsup2

We are going to POP 5/31 ~ 6/8 this will be our 3rd time at POP. I have stayed at Poly, AK, Cont, WL, All Sports....POP by far is the best!!! Last trip we started out at POP and moved to AK and my kids wanted to go back. Look out POP here we come only 75 days!!!!!
