what kind of stuff can you get for breakfast at pop food court? is one meal
( 1 QS credit) big enough for 2 people?

how much is a small container of yogurt? I was thinking of doing a small garden grocer order of water and breakfast items. do they have toasters for your own use at pop? what about individual packets of peanut butter, jam, cream cheese etc? I'm not going to have a fridge, but was thinking of ordering a small cooler from garden grocer and maybe getting some bagels and such, if pop has individual packets of cream cheese available for a small price?

If I were to buy milk or yogurt how long do you think that will keep in a cooler if I change the ice everyday?

Yes, many of the meals are definitely large enough for 2 people to share. Two I can think of right now are the Bounty Platter and the Breakfast Burrito. I'm sure many of the others would be plenty big as well.

Can't answer the question about the individual packets, sorry.

As for the cooler, we used a styrofoam one that we ordered with our order through Wegoshop. It worked out great. We changed the ice every morning and had milk in there the whole time and it was fine!!!

Another question - does anyone know if they sell those styrofoam coolers at the resort? Since we're flying we can't bring a cooler, and not sure if we'll have room to pack a soft sided one to keep in the room.

You can check a cooler as baggage, just not ice or liquids in it..

Anyone hear updates on Building 2 referb?

We requested Building 2, but I didn't pack my privacy curtain if they didn't get referbished yet.

Actually, building 2 is not all done yet. We were there 2 weeks ago and they put us in Building 2 1st floor. The room had not been refurbished and no work was being done then so I pretty sure it wouldn't all be done by now. We switched rooms.

What DH did last time (and will do this time) is split the huge breakfast meal (Adult Breakfast Platter - scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuit, sausage, and bacon $6.29) and then use a snack credit for a muffin or something, we get 2 juices with that, or a juice and a milk. We are good until lunch with that.:thumbsup2

The Pop food court has lots of breakfast choices. Everything from hot breakfast items like scrambled eggs with sides of potatoes and bacon (you can get just an order of scrambled eggs--we do), cereal, muffins, bagels, pastries, donuts!! You name it!! And yes, they do have little cups of cream cheese, butter, margarine, I think peanut butter but I didn't look specifically for that. There are little cups of maple syrup.

Don't forget if you have special food needs, see the manager Kevin in the food court. He's a gem! He will introduce you to the very accommodating chef and will tailor a meal to your needs!

Would this include a Gastric Bypass patient? I had Gastric Bypass on Aug. 10th and I'm so nervous about going to Disney in Sept. I'm sure by then, I will be ok and hopefully eating more then 1/4 cup of food, but still.

Can anyone tell me if there's an outlet underneath the window or how close one is to the window? I honestly can't remember if there's one close to the window or not and need to know if we'll need an extension chord. We bought a light up Mickey head at Walgreen's yesterday($7.00 :cool1: ) that we would like to use to decorate our window with when we're there next month. Obviously it would only be lit while we were physically in the room. Thanks! :santa:

I know that there is an outlet close to the window, slightly beneath the table and two chairs.

I use this outlet to plug my mobility scooter in each night to recharge the batteries.

There is also one near the door on the other wall behind the bedside table.

There is one on the wall next to the door, next to the first bed. I would think that would be bad though since you would be tripping over the cord. I would stick with the outlet near the table and chairs. I think it would reach perfectly. :thumbsup2

Do you know about the (free) fridge swaps? There is a link at the beginning of the thread. You can "borrow" a fridge for free, and then pass it on to another Diser at the end of your trip.

Awesome!! Thank you! :goodvibes:santa:

You are very welcome!!!

Also, if you are anything like me, I need to plug in all kinds of things: camera, BlackBerry, white noise machine, etc. A powerstrip is a plus! :thumbsup2

I will definitely be packing a powerstrip! Great tip!! Again, thank you!! :goodvibes

I've been off the boards for a few months. Finally getting back on and looking forward to a trip in early December w/ my daughter and 2 neices, a nephew and my sister. I assume that there have been reports on the refurb at Pop. Can someone PM me and tell me where to find those reports. thanks!

Of course. Disney, and especially at Pop, will accommodate any special food need. I do not know what your special needs are, but if you can only eat 1/4 cup of food at a time, I sure hope you're NOT on the meal plan!:scared1:

Depending on what your needs are, you might want to call the Pop directly, and speak with the Food Court Manager Kevin or the Chef and tell them what you need. Or, as soon as you arrive, go into the food court, and fine and talk with him. There was also a woman manager in the food court, but I don't remember her name. I usually grabbed Kevin. He would go in the back and come out with a nice big cup of lactaid milk for me at no charge, so I could put it on my cereal and in my coffee. He also had me talk to the chef so we could discuss other dairy free options for me. I'm sure they'll do he same for you.

I did check out the fridge swaps, there only seems to be a few active right now but my dates are already taken, and I think I saw the same person listed on various fridge swaps for the same dates, how many fridges does one person need? lol

For breakfast id get a side of eggs or potatoes it wont be too much food. For dinner ask for a small portion of pasta etc. Just ask for sides and such they are a good size i can make a meal out of sides!:)

We're finally back and I wanted to report on Building 2. We walked all the way around on the ground level Monday morning and there was no ACTIVE work being done on that building. Most window blinds were closed up, but on the lake side of the part of the building that stick out towards the parking lot, I was able to see into just one of those rooms and it was NOT refurbed. The mousekeeper was standing near the window and rushed to close the blinds when she saw us. We were just walking by, didn't stop and peek in, so I thought that was kinda weird.

Anyway, the opposite side of that same part of the building, I was able to see in some of those rooms and they were refurbed.

The doors all appeared to have been freshly painted though. (...and in fact, they were in the process of painting some of the doors in Building 3, which was already reported to be finished.)

We were in building 3, lake facing and it was a refurbed room.

For the person asking about breakfasts that are big enough to share, I would recommend getting the bounty platter. It was a ton of food. We asked for an extra plate and they never refused us. We added one of the fruit bowls as our "appetizer" and it was always more food than we could both eat.

Hate being back home, but we had a GREAT time! Many awesome memories - it was everything I had wanted it to be. (Low crowds and cooler weather!)

Lactaid got my attention, I too am lactose intolerant and I have a life-threatening food allergy. I find the chefs, etc. at Disney to be wonderful and very accommodating when it comes to problems like these. I am sure, with having gastric bypass, there can be something done for you so that you may eat on your trip without getting ill.

I have a family member/CM who had gastric bypass and he really enjoys the buffet at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort. If you like seafood, it's a great choice. He eats the clams and mussels and brings his own fake butter. There are veggie/salad and soup options that he enjoys there as well.

I would also suggest, as I have been on a strict food plan as well, that you may bring some of your protein shakes/snacks with you just in case you are having a problem handling the food at the resorts/parks.

Good luck! :thumbsup2
