Getting ready for a December trip. Can someone point me to any reports of the refurb for Pop? I suspect there are reports somewhere that I just haven't noticed. Thanks in advance.

We have a Pop refurb thread too in addition to refurb reports on this Groovier thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2397068

Summary of Pop refurb is that everything is almost done except for building 2. Reports from within the last week are that building 2 / 50's is still being finished - some upper floors have refurbed rooms, some lower floors are still to be done. Otherwise all other buildings are expected to be complete with refurbs.

We requested a fridge when we made our reservation. When we got to our room at 1:30 pm it was not there. I called the front desk and let them know and it was in our room when we returned back that evening at around 7:30.

I have had two experiences with the fridge:

(1) Ordered the refrigerator before I arrived. The refrigerator was in the room upon arrival.

(2) Needed a refrigerator for a medical need for someone traveling in my party and the refrigerator wasn't there upon arrival. I called the front desk, explained the situation and housekeeping brought the refrigerator ASAP.

I always request it when I book the reservation, inquire at the front desk when checking in and confirming when I get to the room. :)

I do know about the swaps but thought it would be easier to just have frig in room upon arrival than trying to meet up with Diser...thinking twice about that now :confused3 We arrive on Jan 29th-Feb 5th. Thank you to everyone who helped me with the frig questions:goodvibes

Two questions - i thought I read somewhere that all of building six is now preferred - but my searches have come up empty and I cant remember where I read it. Can anyone confirm that? Also, has construction "resumed" on the Legacy Years.. i mean Art of Animation and if so, is it noisy? We are going to request building six with a lake view in march, just want to make sure it will be quiet and not preferred!

thanks

No building at POP is exclusively preferred. The buildings that have preferred sections have standard rooms as well. :)

We stayed at a non-preferred room in building 6 (4th floor, facing lake) the last week of October and it was Super quiet! There was no loud noise coming from Art of Animation.

I had faxed in a few room requests 6 days prior to our arrival. I'd requested "4th floor, building 4 or 3, lake facing". We were given 4th floor, building 3, lake facing. We were the second room from the end / corner, and had a perfect view from our window of the Epcot ball. It turned out to be a very quiet location; I was pleased. Oh, and when we arrived in our room, we discovered a certificate that said we'd been chosen as the Family of the Day by housekeeping. Next to this was a little card and a funky Rubiks cube. A little dose of pixie dust to start our trip.

Have a magical time!

That sounds perfect...I think that's what I will request.

There is a map showing which rooms are preferred in the first post of this thread.

I know - however, in some thread somewhere, someone was told by a CSR that all of building 6 is now preferred - but I cant find the thread anywhere.

That would be very new and doubtful. Unfortunately, CSR often has incorrect information. Will check to see if I can find correct info. :thumbsup2

I guess it depends on your budget. Due to our flight times, we don't do the parks on our first or last days, so meeting up with someone (or getting it from Baggage services) isn't a big deal for us. Last trip, baggage services had already delivered it to the room for us actually.

BTW, we'll be there the same time as you, Jan 26 to Feb 6... I guess you'd have to pick a different swap! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip

Absolutely you can use on line check in if you booked by phone! On line check-in can be done 10 days in advance, so 11 days is one day too early.

Go to www.disneyworld.com Directly under where it says Walt Disney World you will see "sign in" or "create an account", then a little suitcase, then "My Disney Vacation", then "My Reservation"... click on My Reservations..you will need to sign in or create an account. Once you get back to My Reservations there will be a box to click which says "on line check-in" - have your reservation number ready. I am check in as I type this to you! We check in this Thursday. 4 ngts VWL.:dance3:

Have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

I admit my laziness that I haven't read through the whole thread and my answer is probably there, still I'm hoping someone will give me some advice about room requests.

I am thinking of booking Pop for a seven night stay in January for me, DH, and DD5. We have never stayed at Pop and looking for what is the best location for us. Do you recommend booking a preferred room? We like to be close to transportation but also are looking for a quiet area. Also I'm interested in staying in an area that my daughter will think looks fun.

Anyone have advice?

Thanks

We always stay preferred but it is vital we are as close to the food court and the buses as possible. DH is a diabetic and the feet take such a beating at WDW, every step we save is important.
The 60's and parts of the 70's and 50's are preferred, the 80's and 90's are all standard rooms. They aren't far off but a couple hundred feet is a lot for us.

I say if walking an extra 200-300 ft isn't a big deal to you, then stay in the decade that you grew up in. As for the kids, that isn't as important. But for us adults it takes us back to our youth and adds "magic" to the stay.
