The fish at the Pop food court is excellent. We had the salmon dinner which included rice, veggie and corn bread. We also had the fish sandwich, which was the BEST ever!!! None was fried. It was all baked to perfection. I avoid fried food, salt, lactose... I always am happy at Pop's Food court. In fact, this trip we're staying at SSR for the first 5 days, and I might just hop to Pop to get my fish fix!:thumbsup2

so its been a hair over 2 weeks since we were there. i swear, something about the scent in the main hall at pop just makes me smile. its like baked goods and new car smell all in one.

i miss it!

Yes what is that smell they use?

I know other resorts pipe in scent, does anyone know what scents are piped into POP?

We're finally back and I wanted to report on Building 2. We walked all the way around on the ground level Monday morning and there was no ACTIVE work being done on that building. Most window blinds were closed up, but on the lake side of the part of the building that stick out towards the parking lot, I was able to see into just one of those rooms and it was NOT refurbed. The mousekeeper was standing near the window and rushed to close the blinds when she saw us. We were just walking by, didn't stop and peek in, so I thought that was kinda weird.

Anyway, the opposite side of that same part of the building, I was able to see in some of those rooms and they were refurbed.

The doors all appeared to have been freshly painted though. (...and in fact, they were in the process of painting some of the doors in Building 3, which was already reported to be finished.)

We were in building 3, lake facing and it was a refurbed room.

Thanks for this detailed update. I updated the Pop refurb thread with a link to this post too.

So I need to call in our room requests today or tomorrow, but I'm stuck on what building to request or if I should just leave it to chance. We want 4th floor facing the lake. Should I pick a specific building?

I think its "Nostalgia" (sp?) and maybe a little bit of "home" mixed in too!

that's a great room request and you are more likely to get a lake view room keeping it general....but...if you want to add a blg, I would recommend bldg 3 (50's tramp) or 5 (60's..forget the icon). we had fabulous room locations twice in bldg 3, 4th floor - we were facing EPCOT, looking out at the top of Spaceship Earth. Heavenly! Bldg 5 is also wonderful, and very clsoe to the food court, bus and lobby.:thumbsup2

Good luck and have a wodnerful trip! :goodvibes

Posted on Resort page but thought this would be a better place to post question.

We are staying at Pop for the first time in January...yippeee, can't wait! We have 3 kids (2 rooms) and would like a frig in our room for breakfast in the morning.

Has anyone waited to request a frig for your room at check-in and if so, did you have any problems getting one, how long did it take to get to room...etc?

If we place our request now (80 days out) will the frig already be in the room when we check-in?

Any info you may have about this would be appreciated!

I had faxed in a few room requests 6 days prior to our arrival. I'd requested "4th floor, building 4 or 3, lake facing". We were given 4th floor, building 3, lake facing. We were the second room from the end / corner, and had a perfect view from our window of the Epcot ball. It turned out to be a very quiet location; I was pleased. Oh, and when we arrived in our room, we discovered a certificate that said we'd been chosen as the Family of the Day by housekeeping. Next to this was a little card and a funky Rubiks cube. A little dose of pixie dust to start our trip.

Have a magical time!

We requested a fridge when we made our reservation. When we got to our room at 1:30 pm it was not there. I called the front desk and let them know and it was in our room when we returned back that evening at around 7:30.

what's family of the day at pop? less than 3 weeks now and I'll be there!! I'm going to call tommorrow and make my room requests. I would like 80's building, top floor. do I need to request 2 beds? also, what about building, is there a better 80's building?

also, is there a chart or something in the cafeteria that lets you know which meals include an appetizer or dessert or whatever? I would think we just choose a meal and that was the 1 credit, but someone just mentioned they got a meal and chose the fruit bowl as their appetizer and that was all 1 credit?

A CS credit includes an entree, a dessert ( but some cm's may let you sub a side salad etc for dessrt! and a drink!!!

I said that wrong, we picked the fruit as our included "dessert" not as an "appetizer" and yes, it was all one CS credit. No chart, but we pretty much grabbed what we thought was okay and then asked at the register. The CM's at Everything Pop were very pleasant and helpful about the whole dining plan business.

Been back for 11 days now and I have to say WE LOVED POP!!!! I have been to a few different WDW resorts and this was my fav ♥. We also got all of our room requests and we had the BEST room in the place! Building 4 first floor room 4105. Right next to the Hippy Dippy pool and only steps from the main building. Every morning we would get up early and "reserve" the table and chairs just outside our room and we'd stay there until about noon then get ready and go to the parks by 1. That was our daily routine and it worked out great for us. Plus, we got the connecting room we so desperately needed for DM-I-L. The room was re-ferbed and the TV was great. We had our portable DVD playing hooked up to it so every night we enjoyed a movie (or two, if we didn't pass out watching the first one). The CM's were awesome and our mouskeeper was sweet. Got plenty of extra towels for the pool.

At night we would take a walk to the generation gap bridge in our pj's and just sit there for a while. It was a nice way to wind down from the long day. Construction is going on at the legendary years site and I am so excited to think about planning our next stay at the new all suites value resort they are building. I wanted to walk around over there like I saw in a YouTube video but it is boarded up at the end of the bridge for the construction.

So for everyone about to go, or planning your trip, just know that POP is awesome :woohoo: and you will have a great time!

And I thought I was the only one that felt that way. No idea what it is but it's distinctive.

To the poster with question on fridge....

It is best to request it before you arrive. When you check in they have always told us it would be delivered within 30mins. Usually when we get to the room before we are in there 5 mins they bring it.
Of course we are using the fridge for DH's meds, he is a diabetic, maybe that is why ours has been delivered so quick???

Getting ready for a December trip. Can someone point me to any reports of the refurb for Pop? I suspect there are reports somewhere that I just haven't noticed. Thanks in advance.

Did you know about the fridge swaps on the Dis? The links with all the info are at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1454053 ... see post 3.

Basically there are several fridges that get passed (free) from one Disers to another to use while at Pop. I'm there from January 26th, participating in Diszney Daz's swap for the second time, and I know there is no one booked right before us yet.
