Ok just back :sad2::sad2: Only sad because we are not there anymore...but we had a GREAT time!!! We did just the standard room and our only request was a King bed. We did online check in as early as possible and it was a breeze when we arrived at 10 am. ME was a breeze and checking in was too...we got our KING BED YAY!! and we were in room 7451 (80's section, 4th floor) on the back side, you could see the "Walt Disney World" sign you enter under from our room over the trees, which was pretty cool!! Our room was great, refurbed, clean, not noisy, etc. Only problem was it felt like a hike from our room to go to the busses or to get food

Shannon84: Glad you had a great time! :goodvibes I stayed in the 80's once (end room, 4th fl facing the lake by Mr/Mrs Potato Head) and it is a little further to the Classic Hall than 60/50's while I stayed as well -- but still not too bad. I really liked the computer pool. Are the refurbed rooms great??

I always stay in the 80's building and love it. This Feb it will just be my husband and myself going so I will request a King Bed too. Does anyone know if there is King Beds facing the computer pool? When we have gone other times we just get the 2 double beds with going with family and friends. I love that view first thing in the morning for some reason. :)

hello, I'm new to the Pop thread and am thinking of staying a few nights here in 2011. I travel alone with my DS and was wondering if there are bell services to help you with your luggage on arrival? Will they bring your luggage to your room, or is there a cart that you can bring the luggage yourself?

Go to luggage check in on the left side and borrow a cart like i did. Then roll it up to your room - most rooms are within a 7 minute walk of the front building. But I have also seen them help out and deliver them as well. They do not have bell services per se but will help. going home if you call the lobby ahead of time (1day?) they will come to your room to pick it up and deliver it. I have seen people use this service to send it to their car.Hope this helps out.

We just got back from our 2 week trip and we had a great time down there. First let me say that the rooms at POP should be all renovated within the next 2 weeks. We were in the 50's (bldg#3) and it was all done. We watched them working on bldg #1 -floors 3&4 were done when we left with only 1&2 to go. The Everything Pop bldg was nice with the food court being really busy between 8-9:30am. Other hours it wasn't bad. The pools were very warm - must have been 85 degree water! We like the bowling ball pool and it was so warm! It was very busy at night due to the heat - till about 10pm most nights! :surfweb:

Hi. We will be there on the 14th for 9 nights and I have a few questions.

What are the chances of getting a king sized bed?

When would be the best time to request one? Before we leave or at checkin?

Thanks!

They assign most rooms 5 days in advance of the room reservation so call now. Hve your reservation number available and have them add the bed request to your reservation number. We got all of our requests on the trip we just came back from. We asked for 50's, top floor , facing hourglass lake and got all of them. I had this added to our room reservation. Don't bother faxing requests down. Have fun!:surfweb: And bring a poncho for the rain in the afternoons!:surfweb:

3 Months and 3 Days away from being in my beloved POP Resort once again. Cannot wait!!!

It seems like we'll both be there at the same time. I'm taking my kiddos down for thier first Disney trip. (They are 4 and 7.) We're staying at Pop from January 5th to the 15th. Let's hope for slightly warmer weather than I heard they had last year!! (I'm coming from Maine so I'll be happy with 50s by that point I'm sure!!)

Thank you very much! I will call tonight.

Someone just told me that only the handicap-accessible rooms have king sized beds. Is this the case? I hope not because neither of us are handicapped. If it is not the case, are there certain sections of the building that contain king rooms? Any suggestions of a room location based on that?

Thanks once again!!!

This room layout map explains that standard, non-disability king bed rooms are available in specific buildings. So for example building 2 in the 50s section has 6 King bed rooms on floors 1-3. (But note that building 2 is not refurbed yet if you want a refurbed room.)

I loved the refurbed rooms...I didnt understand how the privacy curtain would help DBF and I ...but it was awesome. I was able to shower a lot earlier and take my time doing my hair and makeup without the light bothering him :rotfl:

I loved being just on the other side because it was so quiet and because we could see that Walt Disney World sign perfectly :goodvibes The computer pool was great though we really enjoyed it, especially since we were little kids in the 80s

i dont believe this is true. if that was the case I should have got at least one of my requests- 60's first floor facing the lake.
We checked in using online check in 10 days before checking in. Our party of 3 rooms were scattered throughout the resort.

We also had a late night check in-- which I believe is why we got what we did- all the rooms we wanted were gone by the time we checked in

I have checked in early to Pop and gotten none of my requests met. Who knows why sometimes you get what you request and other times you don't. It could depend on who the room assigner is?

Just back from "Girls Trip" of Mom and 2 Adult daughters for Food and Wine and to see my DS who is a CPCM at Innoventions. Beautiful weather--not a drop of rain, hot but not too humid(highs in 80's, lows probably 70's). Had room in the 80's section, building 9, facing parking, third floor--hardly anyone around us, very little noise at night or morning except for a water-dripping sound in the AC which seemed to disappear when we upped the temp from 74 to 76:confused3.
We had a refurbed room but the bathroom and sink area had some issues(which we didn't call about since we were in and out for only 4 nights)--sink backed up quickly when running water and someone had left a sticker on the shelf that we had to remove even after housekeeping was there(did they think it was a decoration?!?). Bathtub had same water issue so we removed the stopper(and maid left it out the whole time) and wall by the toilet paper holder needed a good scrubbing. Faucet of tub came off if you pulled it out straight but we pushed it back on. Privacy curtain had the "stick" handle thingy off but laying against wall so I think they meant to fix it? It was just little things like that that led me to believe someone was supposed to address them. We should have asked to be moved since there appeared to be plenty of open rooms.
I do like how the curtains to the room closed and wished more hotels had these: they were actually kind of staggered so that one closed the gap where the other stopped and therefore light did not "peek" into the room:thumbsup2! No need for the clothespin trick, haha.
Any questions--I would be happy to answer:goodvibes.

To add to the mystery of room requests....:scratchin. I put a room request in when we booked, then called a few days before we arrived. I didn't send a fax... We checked in mid-morning. Our room was on the opposite side from where I had requested. I asked the very nice CM if they had anything available in the section I had originally requested..."No problem!" he said. Not only did he put us in that section, our room was ready @ 11:00am. So I agree..who knows how it works? :confused3

And i just got back from Pop, Bldg 1. They were working on the 2nd floor. so first floor must be next. Loved coming back from the park and going for a swim in the bowling pin pool. i was swimming at midnight several times but I was quiet. Others were not so quiet.

I faxed a room request 3 days beforehand. I asked for 4th floor (more quiet), 50's (love the themeing), and facing pool (since i was traveling alone) I got the BEST room. I was in the Lady building right next to the main building. I had 4th floor, facing the pool AND I had a corner room. :thumbsup2

A few late afternoon storms came thru and lasted for a few hours. I lucked out each time and made it to my room before it stormed. I think I would've been lonely if I had been facing the lake or parking lot. The way these storms came in, I could stand out on the balcony and watch the people running around, the life guards closing the pool and chasing people off.

The bus's were prompt and many times they sent a 2nd and even a 3rd bus to handle a crowd. I usually stood. All in all, I had a very relaxing week.

Thanks for the info Trekker93 and I'm glad you enjoyed your recent stay!

I had one more question...and this is probably the first of many! I am thinking of booking Chef Mickey's at seven am for breakfast, but was wondering if the buses start running that early if the MK doesn't open until 8am? What time do the buses start running in the morning from Pop to get to a character breakfast? TIA for your help! :flower3:
