My only criticism of the rooms is the new comforter/bedspreads. They are huge, thick and heavy. We always remove them anyway (not just at POP, but any hotel) but these things are like trying to fold foam rubber! We finally asked mousekeeping to just come get the darn things and bring us extra blankets. We were perfectly comfortable after that.

Thanks for the tip about the bedspreads. I'll have to remember to have mousekeeping take them away and bring us extra blankets. :thumbsup2

I think the problem with the bedspreads is that they're still new, so the material is still very stiff. When I worked in housekeeping at BW, another CP and I spent three days swapping out bedspreads for new ones and those were insanely hard to fold and make the bed with because the material was still so thick. So I think once they've been used some, they'll be softer and more pliable :)

:flower3:

Just wondering - we are on the dining plan, so with our breakfast can we get something like a fruit cup or yogurt for "dessert"? Or do you have to get another drink as your "dessert"

Thanks.

Also just back from Pop, we were in the 60's, bldg 5, 4th. floor, rooms 5422 and 5423 (I have pictures of the king handicap room and will post when I get my pictures downloaded).

I love my room. Refurbed, clean, and cozy. I also loved the comforters. I use a heavy blanket to sleep and this was just perfect. The underblanket (blue and fuzzy) was perfect for DH.

I only have one complaint. DH took the kids golfing and luggage/cab service brought them to a deserted golf course in error. Thank God the manager was there doing paperwork and took them over to the right resort. DH was a bit upset, wanting it to be a stressless time with the kids, and he was concerned to be dropped off the way they were. We spoke with a first manager who just kept asking DH what he wanted. We didn't want anything, just wanted it not to happen to anyone else. So sad that so many people want stuff for an inconvenience that you can't try to just give a constructive critism. So he blamed the cab company who called us back, gave an apology, but very specifically stated that POP gave the wrong course. This was confirmed by the second manager who called, and once again asked what we wanted. By now, we told him straight out, that an "I'm sorry" would do. That came over the phone into voice mail during the middle of the night, not even directly to DH.

As for the rest, Pop was great, great, great!! My kids loved their own room and our Mousekeeper Matilde was ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, the best we have ever had. Thanks Matilde if you read here.

Any questions, please ask.

Yeah, that's what I meant - don't know why I called it Magical Express (we're not even using that).

I guess I can ask about the pool, and if they say no I'll tell them two people on the DIS told me it shouldn't be a problem. Will you guys be there at the same time to back me up? :rotfl2:

we arrive on the 28th! and will back you up!
actually, I wouldn't even ask. there are no wristbands or anything.. people try to pool hop at the more "luxurious" pools. (example:when we stayed at Dolphin we overheard 2 young couples next to us at the grotto pool talking. they were staying at an all star resort, and had popped over to the grotto pool for a swim from epcot)
there are 3 pools at pop, and one kid isn't going to make any difference. besides, she is "with" your family. if anyone asks (and I don't know why anyone would), you are babysitting her.

POP is as clean and colorful as always. The refurbed rooms look great! We stayed in 50's building 3, 2nd floor - and everything was brand new. At first I was disappointed in this location. I had requested 60s or 70s, 4th floor, lakeside. First time I've ever faxed a request and first time none of my preferences were met! :confused3 But sticking with the belief that there's really no bad location at POP, we gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised. DGD15 loved the bowling pin pool but also that we were really close to the hippy dippy and Everything POP as well.

BTW, the room size does not bother me at all. I'm am empty nester so I have plenty of room at home. When at POP, it's nice to cozy up with my girls. :crowded: We're only there to shower, watch a little TV (love the new flat screens!) and sleep. We find plenty of room for all our stuff without feeling crowded or cluttered. I'm home now with all my "space" and wish I was still back in that little room at POP! ;)

I will admit that we said Boo! to the food court more than once. It was crazy crowded in there at meal times - well, even at 9:00pm! We had deluxe dining this time so we didn't have to face the mobs too often but when we did want to grab a snack or refill our mugs, it was madness I tell you! :scared1:

The rest of the resort didn't seem crowded at all. Pools were nearly empty late afternoons and evenings, arcade and gift shop uncrowded, no long lines that I saw at check-in or concierge.

Pizza delivery and luggage assistance were great! Resort airline check-in went perfectly smooth. There was very little wait for busses to the parks. The only park that seemed to have long lines at the bus stop was Magic Kingdom, but it didn't even seem too bad. In fact, our biggest transportation hold-up was the monorail. We were late to our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare because we were stuck on the monorail for over 40 minutes while they had to perform "routine maintenance". (Someone said it was a flat tire.)

Anyway, we had a great time and once again loved staying at our Disney "home." (But those bedspreads really have to go!) :sad2:

I requested the 50's building and have booked preferred, is building 3 in preferred? was wondering if 50's had been refurb. my first time at POP. leave in 11 days can't wait.:cool1::banana::yay:

I called today to book my ressies for next May and when I told him I preferred Bldg 1 standard room he said he would have to check with his supervisor to see if that was possible. After a minute or two of being on hold, he came back and told me that all of Bldg 1 is preferred rooms. Has something changed or was he just misinformed? I still plan to fax my preferences in when it's time. Just curious!

He is misinformed. We stayed in Building 1 in August and it was definately not a preferred room. In fact I would have to check the map to be sure, but I thought there weren't any preferred rooms in Building 1..I am thinking they are in building 2 (which is next to the main building) and the one directly across from it.

Ok..just went and looked at the map...http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17643531&postcount=2
There are preferred rooms in Building 1...I thought the rooms to the left were in a seperate building! LOL! Anyway...there are definately non-preferred rooms in building 1.

Okay, Well we just go back from Pop Oct-9 after 7 nights at Pop. I have stayed her before, but this was the first time since the refurb has happened.
I agree about the bed spreads to heavy and stiff, maybe they will soften up.
I didn't feel the foodcourt was crowed at all until Friday the 8th when the holiday crowds started to show up. Had a room in the 60's building first floor Building 5 rooms 5162 and 5163 facing Hippy Dippy pool. Not loud at all and very handy to food court and pools, although it was a little cold for us people from the South to be in the water. :) I don't know if all the buildings are done yet, but I didn't see any work being done. I do think that the privacy curtain should be a little thicker or darker, because if the light is on in the dressing area and not on in the room you can see through it. The bus wait wasn't bad at all. Can't wait to go back!

Thanks.

The CM at Pop told us last week for breakfast you can either get 2 drinks or a drink and a fruit or pastry.

That is good to hear! We will have QSDP when we go in December, and a kid under 2 so the fruit will definitely be a good side dish for some Mickey waffles!

Sadly It isn't that people want stuff for an inconvenience it is that the employees just don't want to deal with complaints and do the simple thing of talking to whomever made the mistake or just simply apologizing it is easier for them to give you something for free. I've tried just getting them to fix an issue and it never gets fixed but I am offered the freebie I tell them I don't want.

We love Matilde too she has been the best housekeeper we have had on any stay in any hotel we have been to. Send an email to guest services about her that is what we did.

Does anyone know of a place besides Garden grocer you can have items sent from?

And I remember someone mentioning getting beer? Where was that from?

Wow, I have been trying to soak up all this info :goodvibes

It's our first trip to POP Century and WDW with our two little girls...
I am SO confused as to where to request a room...

Suggestions...we have 2 little girls...but would like something that is on the quieter side for naps, but still close to everything...
I read 2nd and 3rd floor is better than ground b/c of noise is that true?

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!! I would so appreciate it...I feel lost
Thank you!!

I also read that you could order water from Costco's...do you order it online and do you have to be a member?

Thank you so much!! Sorry for the newbie questions ;)

I think you have to choose betweem the quiet sections or the "close to everything" sections. if you are close to everything, it will be a little noisier.
I guess I would suggest the 70's bldg. there is no DSA there,(we smokers congregate at the dsas) it is kinda close to the food court, and close to the kiddie splash area. and there is a playground not far away.
or request a room facing the lake, that's a little quieter.
if you are facing a pool, it will be a little noisy.
while first floor is more convenient, there WILL be more walking traffic past your room. we like a 2nd floor room,, not as much walking traffic past your room, but you still can easily use the stairs and not have to depend on waiting for an elevator constantly. have fun!!!

We ask for facing pool and noise has never been an issue. You do have less foot traffic on higher floors. We order water etc from Garden Grocer.com before leaving home and tell them what we need and when we want it delivered. Not a Costco shopper so not sure about that.:cool1:

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Is the 70's close to the bus stop?

I just read the 50's was a good place to request too...???

Thank you :goodvibes

You can get beer from garden grocer, but you have to specifically ask for it in the comments section of your order. There's also wegoshop.com

You do not have to be a member to order water from Costco. I think there is a charge for non members, but it's less than a dollar. I think it ends up costing around $7 or $8 including shipping.
