One thing I'm hoping you expert Pop'ers can help me is been whether or not to bring an over the door shoe hanger..... Also what do all of you put in them? Thanks for your help.

Besides the obvious, it's great to keep things in one place. Use it for your sunscreen, sunglasses, lotion, KTTWC, lanyards, watches and other jewelry you may take off at night, etc. If you keep that one place (your organizer) for all that stuff, it sure does help you not misplace these kinds of items as well as gets your ready for the next day so you can grab what you need and go!

I have seen it mentioned before where someone says they called the week before their trip to request a certain room in a certain building. Does this really work? We are going down to the POP next week. We have booked preferred (which I have never done on the higher priced properties I have stayed at but for the extra change I thought we would try it at the Pop) for a couple of days. Thanks for the above link to the preferred room map. Since it will be cold(florida cold that is 45-65) when we are there, I would consider swimming in those bath-tub temperature pools if our room was close enough to get to after getting out.

So, re-cap. Have you ever made a request for a room at the POP, was it honored and should I try it?

Thanks all,

Maz :3dglasses:

I faxed my request for last Marches trip and it was honored to the T, but I know many who haven't had it honored as well. Doesn't hurt though.

does anyone remember what the original non-smoking buildings were at pop? i'm thinking 2,3,6 & 7, but i could be wrong, and i can't seem to find the post in the info threads. i'm allergic to cigarette smoke and need to make sure my room has always been non-smoking. a coat of paint and a new bedspread won't do it for me.

I'm pretty sure whe nI went in 2007 80's and 90's were smoking. I'm positive about 80's because they origionally had us there as DH is a smoker, but I told them I would rather not be there and that DH wasn't going to do any smoking in the room anyways as he doesn't smoke around DD. We got move to 70's then.
I don't beleive whole buildings were smoking, but just certain rooms.

There is a small amount of counter space and a shelf above the sink.
I hung my over-the-door shoe organizer in the closet because over the bathroom door it would've covered the mirror.
I have a lot of tolietries...it was nice to keep everything organized, in one place, etc :thumbsup2

Sounds like me with all the toiletries. ;) I do the same thing, only it is a tie on Vera Bradley organizer. It works great tied on the closet bar, right next to the sink. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

I am staying at POP for the first time in October and I'm really excited! The only other Value I've been to is ASMo. I really liked it but the whole "sharing a bus" thing really made me crazy!

Thanks for the people who posted about the over the door organizer! I never thought of bringing one of those but now I might look for a small one. There will only be 2 of us so we won't have all that much stuff to keep organized but it never hurts to try it out!

I'm not the kind of person to make room requests...I'm just happy to be there, but I'm secretly hoping to be in the 70's section! ::sigh:: how many more days til I leave??

Oh, do ask for the 70's when you check-in!! They will be happy to put you there if a room is available! You and the CM can help make your wish come true!! :goodvibes

Have fun planning!!

I agree with, Minnie&Nana... Do ask for the 70's! There's nothing wrong with just asking! We've always gotten the section we've requested at POP. Even the floor of the building that we want! I love being on the top floors - for whatever reason - and we've always been on the third or fourth floors, too. :goodvibes

I asked this question a couple of pages ago, but it got lost in the shuffle. I was wondering if anyone had used the buses during early spring break (mid-march)? Or, if you were recently back, how was the bus service?

I have heard some positive things about the bus service, but then every once in a while, I will come across a poster that has had horrible bus service.

2nd question is, we were thinking of asking for a 1st floor room just so we won't have to climb stairs or wait for elevators. I'm wondering if those 1st floor rooms are really noisy? I know for sure we will be asking for a room away from the pools. Are there any preferred rooms facing the lake?

Thanks!

I went the first week of March the last two years. Buses were fine. They pack them though, espcially during the busy hours (early and late) But we never waited too long.
We also stayed first floor both times. I prefer 1st floor. Last year was even poolside (hippy dippy) and we never had noise

I do find the 1st floor noisest. Not only do u get the noise from above---toilets/doors....but alot more foot traffic that u get on upper floors.

And no, don't think any preferred "face" the lake. Not according to the map posted several posts back.........

I found no probles with buses in Feb, April or May !! In fcat on a few occasions I used buses to other resorts for adrs and found Pop to be the best!!

The only time we found trouble with busses at POP was President's Week......particularily that weekend........bad............
the parks were packed..........other than that trip, they've always been fine.

I was wondering if there were any restrictions to using the 30 min game card at the Pop Century arcade. You can win prizes there so I was wondering if they are limiting you to the number of games you can play instead of the 30 min.

If not:

My strategy would be to first get a bunch of the coins to play the coin games and save them for later. Then go play a bunch of the other games for the rest of my time. After my 30 min is up I go and play the coin games that I got coins for using my card earlier. I think that would be the best way to maximize my 30 min game card.
What do you think? :confused3

:cool1: We have stayed there over the last 4 years and will be going back this Sept. for 2 weeks. We enjoy the 70's section buildings but the 50's are also nice. The bus trips there are usually okay but sometimes you'll see a long line. If there is, they usually send another bus along in 5 minutes. To be honest, they are an adventure somedays - we meet alot of nice people waiting in line. Typically, it takes 20 minutes to get to the parks from there. The only time the bus is a long wait is at closing time over at the parks - and that is true for all resorts. We used to rent a car, but we found that we typically get back to the room faster vis the bus. Have fun!:thumbsup2

I never heard of a 30 min card. What is that?

You get a 30 min arcade card when you book a 2009 walt disney world vacation package.

The only thing that I heard is that your 30 minutes starts from the first time you use the card. There was a post on the codes and rates board about the card. Someone was angry because their card wouldn't work after the first game they played. They kept going to guest services to get it fixed. By the time it was working again, their 30 minutes were up.

About 3 days before you go, Call the Pop and ask for the building you want and also tell them that you would like a ground room. And they will do everything for you.
When I went last month I called and asked for 50's building ground room and when I checked in I was in the 50's building room 3111 it was great, the pool was very quite, It was wonderful.

It was my understanding, that the resorts no longer took calls and faxes for requests and that they suggest you call the main reservations number. You actually called the POP front desk penni ?

what is the weather going to be like in mid March? In June the only time I wore a pair of jeans was one night when it rained/stormed pretty bad but even then it wasn't cold. I have no idea what to pack for March, I know it will be really cold still here!
