The grilled cheese report - Dec 9-15 2007

Since grilled cheese availability is a frequently recurring topic here (and it seems to be one of the harder items to acquire on property), I thought I'd report the places we were able to order one. Some were surprising even to me:

• California Grill
• Citricos
• Ohana
• Rose & Crown
• Yachtsman Steakhouse
• Beaches & Cream

I had no idea that we could get one at Ohana!

Thanks Tara! My DD lives on PB&J's and grilled cheese. Where there any places where you asked for grilled cheese but were refused? We asked at Prime Time Cafe once and they refused to cook anything off-menu.

Nope - the only other places we ate were buffets where we didn't ask. I've been to PTC before and had the same experience with being turned down, though.

And...how were they??

They were all apparently good except for the Ohana sandwich. And TBH, that one was probably just as good as the others, but it was a double-decker grilled cheese and that alone was enough to throw off my extremely, um, discerning eater of a child.

We ate at Yachtsman Steakhouse last year and the server told us they get the grilled cheese from Beaches and Cream. Not sure if that's true or not.

It was kind of cute, actually. When we went to California Grill, the server asked if we had any questions about the menu and Alex said, "Yes. I'm wondering if you have any pancakes or grilled cheeses?"

And me, being picky when it comes to grilled cheese, were they mostly made with "plastic" processed cheese, or did you have any with REAL cheese, the kind that gets stringy when the sandwich is pulled apart, lol?

The Plaza @ MK also offers grilled cheese on the kids menu. If I remember, it's real cheese The plastic cheese grosses me out too!

Now that you mention it, the only one that seemed like fake cheese was the one at the Rose & Crown, which DS just picked at. I'd totally forgotten that!

Oh, for a REAL cheese grilled cheese go over to Captain Cook's at the Polynesian. It's made with 3 cheeses -- cheddar, swiss (I think), and blue cheese. Sooooooooo good!
