The Good, the Bad, and the "you've got to be kidding me!" Trip Report

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I bought my first set of scrubs...actually three sets....

no they are not disney, they are solid colors but they are pink, "lilac" and "rose"

I cant afford the disney ones just yet......and I am not a strong sewer to make my own.

I am sooo sorry.......

I have been taking certificate classes this week to actually go back to work and it is eight hours of intensive training each day....today it was eight hours just on Alzheimer's Disease. It is a very heartbreaking disease for both the sufferer and the family.

I am training to be a home health aid....with trying to go to college to finish my nursing degree...I saw that the local Committee on Aging was training and hiring new 'home health aids'

I will be trained to go into the home of the individual (elderly, disabled, etc) and bathe them, cook, clean, :laundy:drive them to appts or take them shopping. Some will be more intense if they are bed-ridden and then everything will need to be done while they are in the bed. But some are easier by just "babysitting" them to give the normal caregiver a break.

The pay is not great but it is a pay and they are more than happy to work around my classes when they start in fall.

So this weekend...I am going to by my first pair of 'scrubs'!:cool1:

I think that part of me is delaying finishing my report since it is the last day but it was the BEST day! So let me finish my classes this week and then I will have plenty of time to upload the pictures and give you the happy ending to my tale!!!:goodvibes

Just found your TR and am really enjoying it. Your trip sounds magical, and I'm so sorry so many bad things have happened in real life while you were away.

My grandmother has Alzhiemers and it is an evil disease. My grandfather was her caregiver and at 92 this past August he just got tired and fell asleep. Taking care of her I think just really wore him out.

Now she's in a "memory care facility" and I just love it. I visit her on Sundays, take her to church sometimes etc. They do a great job and have her medication really well balanced. It's fun actually. She's like a child again. My DD8 loves to visit her also and is so patient. She'll sit there and answer the same question over and over and just smile. Growing up, she cared for me, now I get to care for her.

When Papa was still alive they had an agency, much like what you'll be doing, come in and help them. They were such kind people. Many of them came to the funeral and they even visited her at the home often the first week or so to help her with the transition. It's a great thing you are going to be doing - thank you!

Well, Thursday dawned warm and clear...

Our walk to Classic Hall for breakfast

We had our usual sweets....hey! its a vacation...we ate like kings!

and then caught the bus to Magic Kingdom.

We slept in that morning because ToonTown does not open until 10am and the only thing that we had to do was see Tinkerbelle and friends....

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom and grabbed a stroller and headed to Toontown....

we got to the "tent" for the pictures and :scared1: 90 min wait for Tinkerbelle and friends!
Holy Cr@p!!

Oh! what we do for our kids!!!:sad2:

We got in line and it actually turned out to be a really nice wait because we chatted with the folks around us and before we knew it, we were heading down the magic walkway to Pixie Hollow.....

They were great!

We meandered around Toontown and then headed back towards Tomorrowland....
We grabbed fastpasses for Space Mountain......

I am almost 32 and I have never ridden Space Mt! I can already feel the anxiety and our return isnt until 6:30pm :sad2: I have issues!:rolleyes1

We then jump in line for Monsters Laugh Floor...the girls love this one! It was pretty funny!

Splash Mountain is a must do before we leave so we head over to Frontier Land......

We still have some time before we can grab another fastpass, so we decided to stop and have lunch....we were heading to Pecos Bills, when low and behold...the Diamond Horseshoe is open for lunch!

Score!

We head into the Diamond Horseshoe and order lunch.....I get the BBQ turkey sandwich!! That was delicious!!!!! DH got the meatball sandwich and the kids got mac and cheese...

I remember when there were shows at the Diamond Horseshoe, I wish they still had them.....:guilty:

We headed over to Splash Mt....grabbed our fastpasses and then headed towards Big Thunder Railroad,

YIKES....wait was 60 min.....we all wanted to do this ride but weren't sure about the wait....

While we were contemplating outside the que lines, a gentleman comes up to us and offers us a rider switch pass for Big Thunder!

This is was the CM goes you if you have a child who is too short to ride the ride. He tells us that his family is getting ready to leave the park and wont be back today. I look at the pass and it is only good for rider and two guests....there are four of us....he assures me that we all can go on the ride with this pass.

I am a little apprehensive but we thank the gentleman profusely and enter the fastpass line for Big Thunder.

We get up to the CM taking the fastpass tickets and I hand the ticket to him and ask him if it is okay that we have four family members instead of three....

He looks at me and flatly says no!

Then smiles and says that since we are neighbors to go ahead.....
He was from Georgetown University and DH had on this WVU ballcap on!

Punked by a college kid!!

We head down the platform to the trains and get on....

I forgot how much I love this ride!!!

The girls loved it to!!

Hey Clara! I can't believe I just now found this... Silly me--I forgot to look for your new TR and I was still checking on your PTR for updates! :confused3 I haven't caught up yet, but I'm planning on it asap! :thumbsup2

Well...I just finished your whole TR (at work...shh! :rolleyes1 ) I'm so sorry that you received so much bad news during your trip. I hope things look up soon! Sometimes it just seems like everything happens at once. I'm glad that you had a great trip (besides those things) though. It sounds like your family loved it! I can't wait to read the rest! :thumbsup2

I really hope to see the Fairies without a 90 min. wait! DD just saw your pictures and said "Tinkerbelle and babies" (all kids are babies to her). How sad, it's your last day... then back to "our home!"

Oh I love BTMR too!!!! Loving your last day. Know what you mean about Space Mountain - I am always nervous before I ride and am not sure if I really enjoy it or not. Last time I felt I was hanging on for dear life!!!!

ohhhh your last day :( Looks like you made it a good one..... so is there more to tell us??
WHen ya going back? are you already planning?

sheesh I am full of questions today!

I started my pre-trip and posted on TGM but no one looked at it so I am afraid to post it here .....

So, please tell....did you ride Space Mtn?

Yeah, I think I will keep him around for a while! ;)

He has come to love Disney for the all-inclusive aspect...when he wants to go on vacation.....he wants his brain to take a vacation as well....oh, the many comments I could write...but I will behave....:lmao:

But we just cannot afford to go to Disney every year so we have discussed that every other year is sufficient...plus there are other locations and activities that we, as a family, want to do

For Example....Williamsburg, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA

plus we try to do something in the summer with my parents since they dont see the girls that much.....what is REALLY nice is when they take the girls for a week in the summer and DH and I are all alone......:lovestruc

I end up cleaning the house and removing the old, broken and un-used toys and go to bed at 9pm everynight....no romance there....:lmao:

but I thought that after I finish with my degree...the best way to celebrate...would of course be going to Disney World. He agreed and I have mentioned this to my parents and they agree too, as I would want them to attend this joyous celebration!! I also said something to my SIL about taking the boys (my nephews) for the first time then too....funny part (actually hilarious part) is that my MIL is scared to death of flying...so guess who wont be going.....

I need to behave!

I hear you on this one we homeschool so we want to hit the mid-atlantic region and yellowstone and rushmore... I don't ask for much do I?

I think this is an awesome way to celebrate your degree - nursing, right? Too lazy to go back and I check. I have been a nurse for a gazillion years - went into it right after highschool. I am an NP (nurse practitioner) now in cardiac surgery. It's hard work, but rewarding. I wish you much success!
