The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Thanks. :flower3:

One of my favorite finds was a framed print of the "Prayer at Valley Forge" I got it for $30 at a yard sale! It is #1322 of 1500 and came with the Cert of Authenticity.

I looked it up and they are selling for a couple hundred dollars. DH said to sell it, and I said no way. The couple hundred $$s will run through our fingers like water in a matter of no time- at least I have this pic forever.

BUT- I had it over my fireplace at our condo, before this house, and it FELL!:scared1: The glass is broken and it scratched up the pic. I need to get it fixed.:guilty: That will cost more than what I paid for the pic:sad2:
Awww...those things happen. When you put your nice things out to be enjoyed, you always risk some freak thing happening. I have never seen that picture before....what a great find! Hopefully it won't cost as much as you think to get it back into viewing shape. :goodvibes

OK GIRLS....NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! The Today Show wants to see our ugly sweaters! Go to the site and upload a photo of your best ugly sweater. We all know at least one of us has an ugly sweater to share. :lmao:

Hello Freaps! I've been out of touch the last couple of days with a bug. Yesterday was the worst-chills, feeling like I was gonna barf at any moment, body aches, ugh! I actually went to bed at 7:15 last night and stayed there until about 7 this morning. I feel a little better today but have to go to work tonight.:sad2: And to make matters worse, we only got about an inch of snow/ice/sleet accumulation yesterday. We didn't have any damage but a tree limb fell on my folks' bathroom(that DH just finished remodeling):sad2: so he will have to go over there soon to see how much damage it did and cut it off. I think it just hurt the roof though. Hope everyone else is staying warm and dry and those of you in the NE are getting everything cleaned up.

I have a lot of old family photos on the wall. Most people who see them think that they just came with the frames. They're really surprised that I have photos that are that old.

That is really cool- I love old photos.

DH's grandmother gives me a lot of really old family photos! She said I am the only one who would appreciate them...and display them. I also have an old baptism certificate from her. I forget the year on that one.

I have a question for IAHD. Do you mind if I change my name to "It's a Crappy Day"?:lmao: I just found out LAST NIGHT that I have to work Christmas Eve.:scared1: And, it's not like it's early in the day either. It will be from 7:00 pm until whenever, 11:00 at the earliest.:sad2: When I asked last week about the work schedule, my boss told me the worst case scenario would be working from noon until about 4:00 which was bad but doable. Apparantly, the powers that be decided that Christmas Eve is not important at all and to not change our work scedule any.:confused3 Even on Thanksgiving they started our shift earlier to get us done the night before. I don't understand what the heck they are thinking.

I hope you are well on your way to feeling better. :goodvibes There are supposed to be some bad bugs going around this winter. I have a DIS friend/family in Hawaii that has been hit by the bad stuff going around, too. :guilty:

I am sorry to hear about your scheduled work hours for Christmas Eve, also. That makes Christmas Day a bit of a fog for you, among other things, doesn't it?

We don't have many trees around our house. In the summer, I always want to plant more for shade...forgetting about the dangers of the tree/wind combo in the winter. :sad2:

We are snowed in this morning and waiting for someone to come plow us out. The wind is blowing and snow is in the air so DH says we will probably need him to come back and clear things away this evening, too. DH has a "busted bucket" (sounds painful, yes?) that needs to be welded and he never seems to find the time to do it in the summer.

Yesterday, I got up and my neck was bothering me. As the day rolled on, it got worse and was spreading down into my upper back. By last night, I was practically in tears and last night was the last night of DS's play...UGH. I kept thinking of Madd and how she came back from Mexico with her back hurting so bad. DH was not happy with me and wanted to know what I had done to my back and I just couldn't think of anything I could have done to bring something so painful on! He had to undress me and help me into bed last night after the play...it got bad!

This morning, it is still hurting but I can at least move my arms and neck around. It dawned on me that it must have been the CT scan the other day. They had me lay on my stomach and look up at the facing wall. I have a bad back and neck but I never would have dreamed the laying in that position for all of 10 minutes could bring on such pain! I have a bad neck from a car accident but, CLEARLY, I need to find some upper back and neck exercises to strength the area! This has been ridiculous!!

I took some pictures of the play last night and I will have to upload them and see if they are in focus....I so badly need one of those cameras that helps steady the focus! I can't seem to hold a camera still to save my soul! Anyway, if they came out, I may post one later.

DS was playing Ralphie in 'A Christmas Story'. He needed a bunny suit for the play. :rotfl: He just came to me last week and told me I need to make one for him! WHAT!!???

He asked me to buy him a pink sweat suit and we could sew a fluffy tail onto the back of it. One of the girls in the play had rabbit ears she would let him borrow. DH suggested we use a pair of my old footed pjs instead of a pink sweat suit so that is what we did.

I bought some white fluffy fabric and sewed it over the front of the pjs, covering a bear applique and front pockets. Then, I sewed a tail on the back. He got the appropriate response from the audience...! :rotfl2:

Even if my pictures don't turn out...I am sure you can imagine a 6' guy in a snug pair of footed pjs and a white fluffy tail...:lmao:

Okay, I really need to vent (again.)

The other day we found out that my DH is getting his hours cut. We will be losing about $500 a month.

Yesterday I talked to my boss about the possibility of me needing to find another job. I really don't want to quit, but right now I'm making minimum wage in one department and just a little more than that in preschool.

I used to work Friday mornings, but I gave them up because another girl really need the hours. She can't work them any more, so they were given to "Shelly."

Sidenote: "Shelly" comes in whenever the hell she feels like it. In october, she was scheduled for 8 shifts. She only managed to show up for 2 of them, and she was late both times. Not that it matters, because she doesn't do much when she is there. Needless to say, "Shelly" is not particularly popular with her coworkers.

I asked my boss if I could have my Fridays back and she said, "Well, I'm not sure. I have to give "Shelly" some hours."

The more I think about it, the more pissed off I get. I always show up. On time even. The fact that "Shelly" still has a job at all is mind boggling.

I think I need a drink.

Susan and Alesia-sorry you are both having bad days as well.:grouphug: Feel free to join my club, heretofore known as IACD(as long as IAHD doesn't mind of course):lmao: . This is the most bah-humbug I have ever felt around this time of year.:sad2: With work issues, money issues, health issues, time issues, we just don't have the Christmas spirit at all. We haven't even had time to put up a tree yet. I know I am first in line for the "Rotten Momma of the Year" award.:sad2:

Your not a rotten mom and we all have these times. Hang in there it will get better. At least we did not all got to Vegas for the warm weather. They actually got snow there and the pictures on the net are really funny. Here is a giant  for all those that need them. I was going to tell everyone that I just got great news but now I feel bad about having great news but anyway. We get to go WDW in about 3 weeks a total surprise for me and NAtalie.. I'll check in later.

Alesia ~ I am sorry to hear about work, for both you and DH! My suggestion would be to sit down and have that drink and talk with the powers-that-be some other day. Maybe once word gets around that you are interested in Fridays, others will step forward and express an interest in giving you some Friday times, too. I hope you hear some positive news very soon. :goodvibes

Marna ~ This is such a tough time of year and you not feeling good has got to enter into the equation here. Maybe you don't need a tree this year....alleviate some pressure on yourself. Maybe a mini tree from the dollar store will do! ;) Make sure you take pictures of it....you guys might look back and laugh about "mini-tree"....this is what happens when you get sick during the holidays and the tree shrinks!" :rotfl2: Get as much rest as you can. I am sure it will help your outlook on things. :wizard:

Theresa ~ What great news! I would love to go to WDW....but I don't want to pay for the trip. Have fun and takes tons of pictures! :cheer2:

There is enough craziness at my house that I am happy to share!

This is DS dressed in a bunny suit >

When DS turned about and everybody saw his fluffy white tail, they laughed all over again! ;)

They even got a leg lamp for the play! :rotfl:

Susan- That picture made my day!

A Christmas Story is one of my all time favorite movies.

Flying through quickly....things have been very busy working retail  I am working 140 hours from last Saturday through Christmas :scared1: After the 25th my hours drop drastically so less than a week to go but I haven't really been on other than to quickly try to catch up on whats going on and my emails.

Feel free to use any other "It's a ______ Day" references :lmao: Sometimes I change the "happy" part around here too :lmao: Thats the sentiment engraved in DH & my wedding bands (for those that didn't know where my screen name came from). It's from Winnie the Pooh.

Anywhere up to 18" of snow expected around here today so everyone be careful, drive safe if you have to be out there, and if you don't get your butts to the store for milk, bread, and eggs and then get your butt home! Hopefully I'll have a chance to get on tonight and browse around but tonight is dedicated to baking 12 dozen cookies

Sorry everyone is not having good days. Soon this year will be over. I hope it gets better for all of us.

Marna just so you know you are not a bad mom. You do what you have to for your family. Sometimes it hurts but the kids will be fine.

Susan I love the pictures. Cristmas story is one of mine and DD movies we watch every year and love love it.

IAHD, you must be losing your mind! :rotfl:

I am glad everyone is enjoying the play pics. I laughed really hard when they brought the crate (with the lamp in it) up on stage. DH says he didn't remember that part of the story...which made me laugh harder! They had 3 kids dressed up in brown "dog costumes" and down on all fours for the 'neighbor's dogs' and they really could move on hands and knees when it came time to take the turkey out!!! :rotfl2:

I have a favor to ask of any and everyone reading this thread: My DGS, Gage, is in elementary school. His class is making a "Flat Stanley" type project where the kids send 'themselves' out, having people take pictures of themselves with the flat subject, and forwarding it on to others. The picture taken with the flat subject is to be sent to the elementary school class. The children see how many pictures they can receive and how far their flat subject can be shipped around the world.

Little Flat Gage needs some addresses to send himself to. :rotfl: If anyone would like to help Little Flat Gage travel around the world by participating, please email me your mailing address to: leavealone4@excite.com and put "Gage" in the subject line.

I would love to surprise Little Flat Gage and see how far he can travel this year. TIA. :goodvibes
