The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Theresa the pictures look great. I have not put up any Christmas stuff yet.

So I went to the Drs. today. If the Oncology Drs clear me when I go Thursday I will be able to go back to work on Jan. 5th:cool1: :cool1:

DH went for a job interview today. This is the 6th time back. They started with 50 went down to 3. He just called he got the job:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

OMG Kellie all of this is great news!!!! What a perfect start for the new year!!!!!!

Just when I thought the day was good. It got better.
At one time they shut DH off from unemployment. We knew he still had a couple of weeks left but they said no no no. Well I told him to fight it. Turns out they messed up. We got the letter today and they are sending the check for the two weeks. :cool1:

Hi all

I have just been able to get online. We endured 67 hours without power and heat. We had trees on our power line, a tree on our house, and water in the basement. Cold doesn't even begin to describe how we felt. I will post pictures later. I have such a greater appreciation for those in war torn and disaster zones, not to mention the homeless.

Even after a long hot shower I still am cold at my very core. Everywhere I look it is more work to do, more money that has to be spent, and something else I have to do. :scared1: Being disabled is never more aggravating than in times like this. Everyone around is up to their eyeballs with similar problems so we do what we can.

I will write more later, I need to rest and then work.

Oh goodness, I'm so happy to hear your power is back on. Reasons such as these are why I hate winter and snow! Sure winter can be nice, and snow is pretty-- but I feel so bad for the less fortunate who cant afford electricity, the elderly, the needy children, etc. Its terrible for me to even think about. It almost makes me cringe every time I hear someone celebrating that its snowing and/or people are out of school. You know somewhere there's some kid who would much rather be in a warm school with a hot meal or something. AHH... I'm off my soap box- just wanted to reiterate how happy I am that that's all over with for you!!

I am sorry you have been enduring such a rough winter already....I say already because winter always seems sooooo loooong to me! :sad2: House damage is so frightening and I agree with Maggie about snow!

Great news!! Here's to more on Thursday :)

All you snow and winter haters stay away from me if we ever get any this winter because I'll be celebrating. I LOVE snow and love cold weather. We are actually supposed to get some ice and snow tonight but I'm afraid to hope. I really don't even care if we lose power-we have wood heat and cook with gas.:confused3 And, to put it in perspective, you hear about elderly people dying in heat waves every summer.:sad2: Not trying to offend my Freaps Maggie and Susan:hug: but I'm a winter loving Freap!!!

Hope that didn't sound insensitive We Love Disney. I wouldn't wish your problems on anyone. If I was closer, I'd come help clean up. I have a lot of experience cutting trees.

Wow! I'm glad your power is back on. I know what that's like :scared1: Hopefully the rest of the winter will go easy on you guys up there.

I am with ya Marna! I would never be able to move somewhere that does not get snow. :guilty: It is how I grew up!

Good luck with the clean up "We Love Disney" :grouphug: Since power went out Thursday night my brother got his back Sunday around 6PM and my sister is still out without an ETA on when it's coming back on today :guilty: She has lost all her fish in her fish tank (50 gallon tank) and her kitties are not happy. My brother nearly lost all his fish - salt water & fresh and several tanks ranging from 20-100 gallons but hopefully because he got a generator hooked up for heat only (no hot water) and a couple lights he spared them in time. My aunt & cousin both have no power and were told possibly up to 10 more days till it's restored  It really looks like a war zone but it's weird because it can be totally different from one street to the next, there was no rhyme or reason the way the storm hit us. We were one of the lucky ones and didn't lose power but my siblings are only between 2 to 5 miles away from us. Many people are displaced and living in hotels miles away from their homes due to this storm and we are expecting an ice/snow storm Wednesday evening :guilty:

:rotfl: I don't think there is ever anything you could say or do that would offend! You're just not that way. ;) I have lived most of my life in the north and I am ready to try a longer growing season! :thumbsup2

No no offense taken what-so-ever. I like having all 4 seasons here in Tennessee. I just am not fond of either extreme.

IAHD- I feel TERRIBLE for your family. I would hate to have lost so much. I know people might think "Gosh her brother lost some fish- big deal"... but... I know how big of a deal that is. We have a 150gal Saltwater Tank... and if the power were to go out we would lose a LOT of money!! Dh has bonded with our Trigger... and the day something happens to it will be a bad day at our house. LOL He's somewhat human and responds to DHs voice or something- its weird. I hope that Wednesday evening doesnt hit you anyone really hard. Lots of hopes for you!!

I was telling Susan that we have had a really warm spell here lately-- which is scary. Its been no-jacket weather for a few days... but the rain just started and its in the forcast for the rest of the week. I have a feeling its about to get a whole lot colder!

Heres hoping everyone stays warm... and that Marna and Madd gets their snow!!:grouphug:
