The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

IAHD, you must be losing your mind! :rotfl:

I am glad everyone is enjoying the play pics. I laughed really hard when they brought the crate (with the lamp in it) up on stage. DH says he didn't remember that part of the story...which made me laugh harder! They had 3 kids dressed up in brown "dog costumes" and down on all fours for the 'neighbor's dogs' and they really could move on hands and knees when it came time to take the turkey out!!! :rotfl2:

I have a favor to ask of any and everyone reading this thread: My DGS, Gage, is in elementary school. His class is making a "Flat Stanley" type project where the kids send 'themselves' out, having people take pictures of themselves with the flat subject, and forwarding it on to others. The picture taken with the flat subject is to be sent to the elementary school class. The children see how many pictures they can receive and how far their flat subject can be shipped around the world.

Little Flat Gage needs some addresses to send himself to. :rotfl: If anyone would like to help Little Flat Gage travel around the world by participating, please email me your mailing address to: leavealone4@excite.com and put "Gage" in the subject line.

I would love to surprise Little Flat Gage and see how far he can travel this year. TIA. :goodvibes

OMG My DD and her pals have been looking for one to take to her college. She will gladly do it. They can do land marks of Boston.

Susan ~ I'd be happy to help too! Kellie could send him to Worcester....the birth home of the :) believe it or not. I know it's still Worcester but :confused3 My brother is in England for the next few months too so if you'd like a picture of Flat Gage with Big Ben let me know :thumbsup2

For some reason this made me almost pee my pants...:rotfl: . I remember going to the Wooostah Centrum to see the MTV summer tour with Paula Abdoul and Millie Vannili. Is there anything else in Worcester BESIDES the Centrum??? :confused3 . Anyhoo- that really made my day.

Thanks for volunteering to take little "Flat Gage" around, guys! :thumbsup2 I think Flat Gage in Boston, England, and any other place would be very exciting for Gage AND me! :rotfl:

Someone suggested a good idea to me today. Everyone can email the pictures of themselves and Flat Gage on his journeys and I will have the digital pictures printed out for his class room. That will be less expense and get the photos to Gage faster, too. :goodvibes

So, how is everyone today? Has winter spread everywhere across the country by now? :cold:

Believe it or not, it was 63 degrees this morning when I left for work.

Wednesday, school was on a 2 hour delay because of ice.

Tomorrow: who knows? :confused3

Pretty typical weather for here.

We are having January weather, actually. The wind chill and the blowing wind are usually reserved for the beginning of every new year. sigh

The "Centrum" is now called the DCU Center :confused3 and we seem to have a bazillion hotels now but other than that there isn't too much going on around Worcester. They just finished awhile ago renovating an old movie theater into a new performing arts center that is unbelievable and they are really trying to make downtown look nicer....hopefully it will help as it had really been getting kinda scuzzy.

we are having more snow. It started Friday. But it is going to be 60 on Christmas eve

We are having patches of snow falling here and there. It is supposed to be 25 on Christmas day. That would be the warmest day we would have for the last 2 weeks....if it makes it to 25.

Thanks to everybody who offered to help with the "Flat Gage" school project. He should have lots of fun with that! :goodvibes

Happy Monday

I was going to go out and do my Christmas shopping. But DH needed to take my car. He has his buddy picking up his to do the brakes and an oil change. So my plans got tossed out the window.

I will be heading into town today with "kids" in tow. My car needed new tires so DH took it this morning and dropped it off. I have a 2006 Envoy that, apparently, only takes expensive tires. DS, DGS, and I will be heading to the mall and then have lunch with DH. I want to check out BBW and see what they have in their 75% off sale. I need to go to Penneys and look for a black leather men's belt. Of course, I have coupons for junk food in the mall court. :rolleyes1

I signed up to get email newsletters and coupons from Kmart and they keep sending me emails that say the links will take me to coupons on the web site but they are never there. :confused3 I don't usually shop at Kmart but I would have been lured over there if the coupons were actually in the emails. What a terrible goof on their part....if they have been sending out thousands upon thousands of emails that contain NO coupons and they can't figure out why the holiday shopping season has been a bust for them. :sad2:

Looks like the snow has moved across the upper region of the country. And the wind has made its presence known in the mid and east? I don't like the wind.

Hope everyone has a good week....despite the weather and the countdown to Christmas. :goodvibes

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then You Are Probably The Family Dog!

Very cute Susan.:thumbsup2 Does the "Flat Gage" project still need takers? I would be more than happy to participate and the kids would get a kick out of it.

I am still feeling crappy but in a different way. Now I have a yucky old head cold.:headache: Anyone used to watch Hee-Haw? DH and I decided that we are of the "If it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all." way of living.:sad2: We did manage to get a tree up on Saturday and took advantage of a dry day yesterday to go get firewood. The kids and dog played in the woods, etc. until we were ready to go and I went to round them up while DH was backing the truck up to get his saw. I had eye contact with both kids but heard a horrible yelping sound. I turned around and saw our new pup lying next to the wheel of the truck. I was terrified and ran as fast as I could toward her. DH was already out of the truck and was coming up to her and she bit him several times(he has about 10 puncture wounds on his hand now) and she was just lying there. It was so scary and, of course, both kids were screaming and crying.:sad2: We picked her up and took her inside my parent's house to look at her and she didn't have any blood on her except for DH's but she couldn't stand on her back leg. We called our vet but couldn't find him on a Sunday so decided to bring her on home and then decide what to do. She acted like nothing hurt except her back leg so we waited until this morning and took her first thing. The good news is her leg was just bruised. The bad news is it cost $200 that we really didn't have to spend right now but it was worth it to reassure us that she is okay. We love that little girl so much already and I can't imagine how horrible it would have been if she had actually been run over by the truck. I think she kind of ran right into the wheel and bounced off.:confused3 Right now she is sleeping in front of the fire :cloud9: . She is able to hobble around but isn't putting much weight on her back foot. Hopefully, she will be all perky again in no time.

Oh My I know the no luck feeling. I am so sorry for your puppy and I hope your head cold gets better.

How awful! Thank goodness she's okay (other than the bruise)...how's the DH fairing?

I've been keeping up with the going ons but haven't posted much lately...to busy with the retail work....26 hours between my Mon & Tuesday hours alone. Just got home about 1/2 and hour ago and back up and at 'em 7AM tomorrow till same time tonight :sad2: I'm tired *yawn* I think of you all during the course of my days and hope you all have a healthy happy holiday (whichever ones you happen celebrate this time of year). And if you don't celebrate any holidays this time of year then Happy Festivus - the holiday for the rest of us :rotfl:

Night! :flower3:

Marna,
I am glad the puppy is okay. How is DH dealing with it?
I need to get my house cleaned. I still have to put up my tree

I saw this and thought a few of you might enjoy it..........

Here is the recipe for one of Ireland's best known drinks and a big favorite on a chilly Christmas evening. We hope you enjoy!

Irish Coffee Recipe (serves 1)

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 1/2 fluid ounces Irish whisky
hot strong coffee
Whipped cream

Directions:
In a warm tall steamed glass, add sugar and whiskey. Fill 2/3 of the glass with coffee. Stir until sugar is dissolved and carefully add cream,
pouring it over the back of the spoon so that it floats on the surface. Do not mix the cream into the coffee and whiskey.
