The Food Was Not Undelicious: May 25-June 1, 2007!! Completed - Post #794

I can't stand ketchup... yucko! I'm a weirdo because I love tomatoes but I don't like ketchup. I could go on...I hate peanuts but love peanut butter... but then this thread would really spiral out of control!

:scared1: I love ketchup, and hate tomatoes. I like peanuts, and don't like peanut butter. Actually, I will tolerate tomatoes, and peanut butter, but only if sugar is added to them, hence liking ketchup, and liking a good peanut butter cup. Weird.

The first time I put ketchup on fish in front of my inlaws they were shocked and appalled. Apparently in this area fish is only to be touched by tartar sauce. My family always used ketchup. :confused3

Brenda - I'm really enjoying your reviews, you have a great sense of humor. Especially looking forward to Chefs & JIKO as we'll be trying both for the first time next trip!

I just survived family reunion weekend, and am now safely hiding under the desk at work. Write food porn to get me through the day!

I'm really enjoying your dining reviews Brenda! Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Sounds like you've had some great meals so far. The bathroom incident was so funny! I've done the same thing twice at the Orlando airport bathrooms. I had the misfortune of walking into the men's room with a man at the stalls:lmao: Embarressed does not even describe how we both felt! Looking forward to reading more of your dining reviews.:)

I really don't like the wind. It blows tiny particles of dirt into my eyes preventing me from wearing my contacts...it mucks up my carefullly prepared coiffure...it forces me to wear a jacket in 80-degree weather...and it makes a hollow mockery of any attempt at outdoor dining. **By the way said:
HI! (fellow wind-hater). I just found your thead and I love it!! I have to share this with you as I completely understand your wind predicament. Two years ago, I took my DH for his 1st WDW trip (my 8th). We were also sitting and eating at the same location when we noticed a breeze kicking up and off in the distance a dark cloud which we figured would just blow away. It just seemed like moments when the breeze turned into a serious wind and the little dark cloud turned into a thunderstorm right on us. We didn't even have time to run. Our food blew off the table and we were holding onto our umbrella with all we had. The folks next to us were holding drinks (looked like margaritas) from the lakeside bar, and were having a tough time trying to keep their drinks and the umbrella too. The storm was brief but we were soaked (and still hungry) when it blew over. It made me laugh to see we weren't the only ones who had an experience like that. :rotfl:

thats funnie I was just talking to the DBF and telling him we have to get our camera fixed (we bought it in Italy1 1/2 ago) and the flash isn't working so I have to get ahold of our cc company and see if they have the trans action so I can call the Cannon and get them to warranty this camera. anyway I told him that I want to take pics from the airport all the way through to the end so keeping my fingers crossed it will be a nice TR for everyone.

Good luck with the camera; I hope you're able to get it fixed. We are always better about taking pictures of food than anything else...go figure! I think we did a nice job on this trip, especially at the Flower and Garden Festival, but there's always room for improvement.

Looking forward to your report later this year!

Just further proof that you and I have some sort of strange karmic connection. ;)

I shock everyone when I ask for mustard for french fries or for fish. The only other person I know who does it is my youngest nephew...I guess he inherited the family freak gene. :lmao:

Thanks Kathy, glad you're having fun! I've got the pictures uploaded for both restaurants so I just need to get some time to put my thoughts into a coherent form.

I'm glad to hear that you've made it through the weekend in one piece! As for the food porn, I'll see what I can do. ;)

Thanks! I'm feeling a lot better and our overall dining experiences were great...I'd give the whole trip a 9-out-of-10 as far as food goes. Just had one meal that didn't "do it" for me.

My goodness...your bathroom story totally trumps mine! :lmao: I will say though, that the bathroom set-up at MCO is confusing; I've caught myself once or twice almost walking into the wrong bathroom.

Hi there! Thanks for reading and posting - I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. :goodvibes

Those tables at DTD need to be weather-proofed, don't you think? It's just crazy how easily they get tossed about when the wind kicks up. And you have to laugh, don't you? It really is funny, especially when it happens to someone else! :rotfl2:

We may have been seperated at birth. :goodvibes Although I won't tolerate a tomato in it's solid form in any way.

Add to the list a love of pickles but can't stand cucumbers & onions must be cooked never raw.

Never done mustard on pizza but potato chips add a nice crunch ;)

Brenda, your review is great as always! Can't wait for more! :wave2:

Hi there young lady! Thanks for popping in - is work easing up on you at all?

As for Plankton and the CT...we were unable to fit him out appropriately and they wouldn't allow him in without a jacket and tie. The result being that Plankton is really cheesed off and is plotting some payback come October. Much of this will be detailed in the formal trip report, so please stay tuned for more madness!

Heh - am totally looking forward to the Trippie... I'll try to save it up for days when I am actually contemplating ways to commit hari kari with my pen at my desk... (seriously - read Bank by David Bledin or the Anonymous Lawyer by Jeremy Blachman, and you'll get a glimpse into my days!)

As for Plankton's evil scheme - the 'lil devil sent me a postcard detailing his plans (and my part in them because I didn't follow through on my knitting plans). Be afraid. Be very afraid... I've hired a bodyguard to be on standby the next time I head into the US... :scared1:

You really have to try it on pizza with hamburger and bacon--tastes just like a bacon cheeseburger!! (We have a pizza place here that makes a BCB pizza with mustard and pickles on top. They also drizzle mayo on it, but that just puts me over the edge:sick: )

And Now for Non-Restaurant Related Food of a Fun and Celebratory Nature...

As many of you have realized by now, Jason and I were celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary during this trip to WDW. Jason had also just had his birthday on May 10th, so we were also marking that. I've always wanted to check-in to a Disney hotel and find some kind of special surprise waiting...after years of trips and hints I finally figured out that I needed to take things into my own hands.

Jay and I don't usually do much on birthdays any longer, but I really wanted to do something kind of fun for him and give him a little surprise. I must give a huge shout-out to Fairy Tale Bride who was a great help when I called the WDW Florist to place my order.

***Thanks for all your help, Lindsey!!!*** :flower3:

To celebrate Jason's birthday I ordered Mickey's Happy Surprise Cake which is made with about 24 Mickey candy bars (Almond, Milk Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate Bars) - the "inside" of the cake is filled with other treats...pretzels, gummies, peanut butter cups...all stuff that comes from Goofy's Candy Company.

I also wanted some balloons delivered with it, which does cost extra but I thought it would look a lot more fun that way.

What do you mean I can only have one???

Being the selfish person I am, I also ordered something for us to celebrate the anniversary. I opted for the Gourmet Extravaganza, which typically comes with a bottle of Rosa Regale, Mickey toasting flutes, a Mickey cutting board and cheese spreader, and all kinds of yummy gourmet treats finished off with a single red rose in a bud vase. I paid extra to replace the Regale with a bottle of Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvee - when celebrating an anniversary I want champagne, thank you very much! :goodvibes Our gourmet treats included Lindt chocolates, dipping pretzels, sausage, crackers, champagne mustard, cheese, key lime cookies, and cashews.

Happy Anniversary!

Don't ask me how much this cost...

How about a drink?

There were actually a couple of surprises that happened during the week but I'm going to leave those for the days that they occurred on. Since these two items were delivered on Friday evening it made sense to post them together, especially since I was responsible for them. I was not responsible for the others...so I'm going to make you wait for them so that you can enjoy the surprise, too! ;)

Thanks again for reading! :grouphug:

Thanks again for reading! I love hearing about everyone's food fetishes...:goodvibes

Sorry to hear that about the job; although I don't work in the legal field I totally understand...my job has become really challenging lately in terms of workload and staffing (for the entire department) - budget restrictions suck!

Plankton sent you a post card? That sneaky little bugger...he better not be threatening you or I'll have to leave him behind for Grimace to babysit in October. :lmao:

I'll try it next time we have pizza and let you know what I think. Since Jay already thinks that I'm nuts he shouldn't be too shocked! :goodvibes

That sounds like my practice at times!! :lmao:

Another lawyer? You two sound terribly overworked. My advice is to take another vacation, as soon as possible! :goodvibes

Hi Brenda!

Thanks for the update. I have to be quick, as I still have an in-law invasion :scared1: , but yes, we had an awesome time at Raglan Road. Thanks again for the recommendation! (It will be Day 4 in my report, will do Day 3 tomorrow once the company's gone.)

Your treats look fabulous! Good work. :)

C.E. :)

Hoo yeah! Brenda's back, Brenda's back!! Just like during your last edition of food porn, (and booze porn! Woot!) I'm here at my computer snorting out my diet pepsi all over the keyboard and sharing random quotes with my husband:

'I wheeled around faster than you can say "I swear I'm not drunk" ':rotfl:

"Hey, I'm not the one who walked into the wrong bathroom." :rotfl2:

and of course,

"Stay off the West Side!!"
:lmao:

Looking forward to lots more!!

Sonia

How much did the basket cost? pirate: :rotfl2:

It's terrific! I bet he loved the candy cake; it's a great idea! :wizard:

2 days back and already 7+ pages?!?!?!? :confused3

Good! :thumbsup2 I'll have some reading to do after these kids go to sleep! :teeth:

I'll be right back! :surfweb:

OMG Brenda! Those baskets look awesome!! I can just imagine how many arms and legs they cost you! I don't even wanna know!

About the RFC, here's the post from my live trippie with pics from when we first ate there. It was SO good! I have another visit there planned for October 14th, so I am REALLY hoping that I am not disappointed.
