Has anyone done these videos/dvds with their step program?

Thoughts?

Hello Dawn:

I bought this series less than a year ago. I had never purchased anything like this before and I thought about it for a long time before purchasing. I became so "pumped" waiting for it to come in; such great reviews; such great testimonials; couldn't wait to get that tush tightened. :goodvibes Now, a little background: I am in fairly good shape and while not considering overweight by the "charts," I would like to lose 10 pounds. I am also a good dancer - so I thought I would do well following the beat (that's the only reason I mentioned that).

In reality - I sucked at these tapes and have had no interest in them since initially beginning. :rotfl: I was so sure I would love it, that I got rid of my box and couldn't easily return it to get a refund. What I found lacking is that they do not show you the appropriate form before beginning the exercises. I was twisting my neck to watch the tv and trying to do the proper form and about killed myself. I am very Type A, high strung and do not easily settle down. I should probably try again . . . and this is my testimonial.

LOVE my Firm workouts. They put me in the best shape of my life - seriously!!

They are challenging at first but once you get them down you are golden. I have all 4 of the body sculpting systems and love them.

When we moved and had to remodel our house, I let my workouts and eating slip and I am 20 lbs heavier than I want to be :(

I am going back to my FIRM workouts because I know they work and will get me in shape!

I love the Firm too! I have the Transfirmer and it's great. The choreography and moves are a little hard to get down at first. You may need a few times of just watching until you get it, but once you have it it's a great workout. You really see the results in your arms, legs, and abs. Make sure you have a variety of weights available (start with pairs of 3,5, and 8).

You know, reading the above posts, I really need to try it again. Don't I?

I just wanted to say that I have had the Firm for a few years, and I really like it. It is a little hard to keep up with in the beginning, but if you just keep with it, you will get the hang of it pretty quickly. I did, and I have little rhythm. Good Luck.

I had the same experience as you. I ordered it over the winter and couldn't wait to start. Even trying it a few times I got rather aggravated  with it. I have taken step classes at the gym before but it was hard to follow and the one girl leading the workout gets on my nerves. :)

I just had to respond. I am a Firm Believer too. I met Cobbler (from the post above) on the firm boards. I too have all 4 systems. A few older tapes, a few of the newer tapes that have just come out. I had a baby 6 months ago and I have about 15 - 20 lbs to lose. I was a size 4 and 130 lbs when I got pregnant. I have now made the decision to start Firming again to get this weight off. I know I have gotten the weight off before and I can do it again with the Firm. I have done it 3 straight days in a row this week and I can already feel myself getting thinner. A little quick? No because I know what the Firm can do for me. The moves can be hard in the beginning, but isn't everything a little difficult when you are first learning it? I takes time to learn something new. There are still tapes I won't do because I don't like the instructor, but that is ok. As long as I do ones I like, the weight will come off. JMHO. Good luck.

I rented a Firm video from Blockbuster before ordering the system. Once I tried the one video, I couldn't wait to buy!

I did these workouts for 2 weeks last summer. I had just gotten to the point that it didn't kill me to walk upstairs anymore when I was in a car accident and I haven't been able to do any upper body work since then. I am SO looking forward to being able to start them again once I get permission from my doctor. Heck, at this point, I want him to let me do the elliptical again. Hopefully, I'll be able to do something after tomorrow's visit.

My sister also loves these workouts. I found that out after I told her I had bought it.

Another HUGE fan of The FIRM here too :cheer2: One of my cousins was using them to get/stay in shape before her wedding close to 20 years ago. I remembered her raving about them when I was looking into some workout videos for myself to lose baby-weight from DS1. It worked, right until I got pregnant with DS2 ;)

I got back on track with BSS3 and the "incline box" two years ago. I was so in to my workouts and the program that I upgraded to the Transfirmer series, and leant the incline box to a friend. With that, I promptly slacked off :sad2: As of March of this year, I'm back in the groove and really enjoying my ability to mix up ALL of my workouts to challenge myself and keep myself motivated. I also recently purchased the two newes FIRM DVD's. One is a bootcamp type one, and the other a cardio workout w/light weights and NO step. Right now, this is my favorite ... I've got some pounds to get rid of and I'm ALL about extra cardio :thumbsup2

For those that have tried a couple of times and quit ... I encourage you to try again and at least get in those 10 workouts they say you need to see "actual, visible results". They aren't kidding :yay:

I was one of those. Since this thread, I pulled it back out and have done it a couple of times (once being last night). My balance and form is still horrible, but I can sure feel it in my upper leg and buttocks ;) which are my trouble areas.

I will keep plugging along. :goodvibes

I love the FIRM. It is very hard at the beginning, and the steps are difficult at first

Here are some tips when you first start.

1. Watch it before you do it the first time.

2. If you get lost and can't figure out the steps...just keep moving and don't worry if you don't get what they are doing. It will come in time, and sometimes it takes a while. If you keep moving you will at least be exercising. Then when you see a part you can do, start doing what they are doing again.

3. If you get too tired, especially at the beginning just walk in place or do a slower step up and down.

4. If a certain part is hard, practice after your workout. Rewind the part and do it over and over again until you get it.

My favorites are

BSS1 & BSS2

BSS3 was fun - slightly harder and BSS4 just ok

Some of the old ones are good too if you can handle the old 80's clothes. There were some good ones in the 90's too.

Also some of my favorites are the extra's you buy outside of the system.

I have around 50 firm tapes and don't have them all. If you want me recommend some of my absolute favorites by the name of the tape, just let me know and I can go look.

I used to do them religiously, and I want to get back into doing them again. We used to have a FIRM thread. Maybe we could start one again. They are addicting once you get going.

I remember that there was a good sized group of FIRMer here on WISH. I too tried it, but did not have the patience to learn it properly. I have a friend who is very committed to the program and it definitely has made a difference when I see her now.

Good luck with it. Hope you can find the fun!

I absolutely love the FIRM workouts but I've gotten tired of listening to the same old music & the ladies. Quite honestly I'm also tired of the chest shots, etc. So I've created my own workout using some of the exercises I've learned from the firm workout and other exercises I've done over the years. And I listen to whatever music I want on my S2 Walkman...its great! I've done these exercises enough over the years and had enough training to know about proper form, control, etc. I really look forward to my workout instead of putting it off because I grew bored w/music, etc. Love the FIRM exercises.

Thank you so much for your responses.

I haven't been on for a week. My 3 year old had surgery and I have been very out of sorts since then.

Back at it now and getting SERIOUS as summer is fast approaching. AND I may be working next school year. Still haven't decided.

But, my weight has GOT to come off!
