The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Ummm... I'm thinking your month looks AMAZING!!! I didn't see much Bad or Ugly, but that's just me! ;)

So, your next event... What's next??? :goodvibes

I see nothing boring about what you post - you are a HUGE inspiration to me and many others on the WISH boards, I am sure. Congrats on your Pilates certification!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: What a super achievement for you! And your runs are amazing, too. I am so in awe of you folks who run miles and miles and miles while I am struggling to do a few blocks. It is so upbuilding to read about your journey and realize that you have overcome SO MANY obstacles to get to where you are and that the hard work has paid off for you. Keep on keeping on - I can't wait to read about how you kicked butt running the Goofy in January. YOU ROCK!!

Hugs - Susan

Hey Amy,
Congratulations on your certification. And your month in review is exhausting to say the least.I don't have to worry about hunters here but I can't even imagine what that was like. We have a beautiful park here and I am afraid to run there, alone anyway, because you never know who will just step out of the woods-creepy!

You guys must be getting so pumped for the Goofy-what was the weather like last year.I guess it can't be worse than New England right?

I need a pilates DVD, I know I asked you before and you said Shotts(?) I think. I can't find that anywhere, any other suggestions- hey here is a business proposition. Alot of us on here want one how about filming a class and selling it to your journalmates?????? Well it sounded good anyway ;)

Have a good week
Linda

Hi Linda :)

Thank you...your post made me smile! You guys don't want a video of me teaching  . Stott Pilates is fine..they have a ton of videos. BUT...my new recommendation would be to get the Pilates for Dummies video! It is surprisingly VERY good...there are two workouts on there...beginner and intermediate. Her form is excellent and her teaching style is good. She teaches many of the exercises I incorporate in my classes. I think it's the best bet :).

------

I ran 5 frigid miles yesterday and they hurt like heck. Once the sun started to go down it got really super cold out and made for a tough run. But it's in the books Yay!!! :)

Today I plan to do some XT and some pilates on my own....I also have to go get a haircut (LONG overdue) and clean my house (YUCK!).

Okay, so when you're done, can you come clean mine? :rotfl2: Larry and I have to clean the garage tomorrow (was supposed to do that last weekend until the evil gluten put me in bed sick all weekend), so my house will be sadly neglected this weekend. So, what do you think? When we're done, we can roast marshmallows in the fireplace and watch my new Meet the Robinsons DVD!! Sounds tempting, huh?:lmao:

Seriously, I am SO IMPRESSED that you got your run in when it was FREEZING cold. That is no fun, I know (gee, I make it sound like I've done this more than ONE TIME, don't I??) - it is VERY inspiring to read about all the miles you get in no matter what the weather. Hot, cold, raining - doesn't matter, you just keep going! GREAT JOB!!! Keep it up!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Susan

Pilates for Dummies. I'll have to keep that in mind!

Marshmallows and Meet the Robinsons sounds good to me! I've not seen it before! Virtual pj party??? :lmao:

Great job in getting your 5 miler in and in the COLD!!! I'm such a sissy. I can forsee the gym in my future quite a bit this winter!

Yay on the haircut! Not that it looks bad, obviously, I don't know what it looks like :goodvibes , but it's alwasy fun and refreshing. Makes you feel good about yourself! Or at least I enjoy them! :)

Cleaning... me too! ugh!

Hope you have a great weekend! Have fun cleaning!!! :laundy:

Hey Amy---Glad to hear training has been going well this week! You month in review makes mine look like nothing! You are amazing, and a real inspiration to me!

CONGRATS on the pilates certification! I would love to take one of your classes someday!

Sorry we couldn't meet up this weekend for a run. Busy weekend for me, and I had to squeeze my run in this morning.

Hope you are feeling better..thought I read on the weekly thread that you were sick today.

Hope the 16 miler went well today!

Hi everyone...thanks so much for stopping by my journal this week :goodvibes .

I managed to get my XT in yesterday (30 minutes on the ski machine, then 30 minutes of Pilates). Then I had to go to a Christmas party...the view was amazing...we were at Flemings in Edgewater NJ directly across the river from NYC with the most amazing view of the city lights.

Unfortunately, as many of you know I have UC which is a digestive disorder. For some reason something totally caused me to have an attack and I've been sick all day. I'm hoping it will pass and I can recover enough to get the 16 miles in tomorrow. As of right now I'm just not sure though :(. I had to skip my 8 mile walk/run today which totally stinks as it is part of my Goofy training. If I feel good enough to get the 16 in tomorrow, I'll attempt the long walk on Monday instead. To make matters worse we're getting a forecast of freezing rain for tomorrow afternoon when I plan to be out there for the run :(. Just can't win this weekend.

Oh well...wish me luck and I'll report back tomorrow :). I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Hey Amy--sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow for the 16 miler. Hope you are able to get it in before the bad weather. I will be officiating a track meet in NYC all day tomorrow so I had to run this morning.

Hang in there...you are going to do awesome at the Goofy even if you miss these runs.

Hi guys...

Long day....Long run...leads to a long night. I'm feeling rather beat up from my run today.:headache:
I managed to get 16 miles in despite being ill all weekend. Unfortunately something I ate at the Christmas party on Friday night triggered the colitis and I ended up sick all day yesterday. I wasn't able to get the 8 mile walk in and I was still unsure this morning if the 16 miles would happen at all. Sooo...with that said I should be happy the miles are in the books :). Which I am...I just wish my legs felt better tonight. I managed to ice bath, which helped a bunch, but unfortunately the right calf is very sore and the left hip is aching like crazy. The rest of me is just tight...including my back. Darn long runs ;).

I pretty much bonked at mile 10...so the last 6 were really rough. My pace finished out at 10:48 which doesn't thrill me :(. But hey...in the books!

Recap from last week:
Ran: 26 miles
Walk/Run: 0 miles
Cardio XT: 50 minutes
Pilates: 90 minutes

Next Week Goal:
Monday: Teach 2 classes, possibly walk 8 miles
Tuesday: Teach 2 classes, Pilates class w/ trainer, Run 5 or 6 miles
Wednesday: Teach 1 class, Pilates class, 30 min cardio
Thursday: Teach 1 class, Run 5 miles
Friday: Pilates Mat or Reformer Class, 30 min Cardio
Saturday: Teach 1 Class, Walk/Run 4 Miles
Sunday: 8 Mile Long Run (pull back week YAY!)

HI Amy! So sorry to hear your colitis was acting up this weekend!!! :flower3: I know from Susan how eating the wrong things can really affect you! I've read before that colitis and celiac can have similarities??? Something about the gluten I think...

I know your LR was not easy, but at least you made it through and it's on the books! :) Eventhough you missed your 8 miles, you still logged a lot of miles last week! You should still be very proud!

Just knowing how many miles you do every week really helps to keep me going when I'm out there just trying to get 2 or 3!!! ;) You are doing so well!

I really hope we are able to meet up in January!
Stacie

SO sorry you have been sick!   I am SO PROUD of you for taking care of yourself and getting some extra rest. Sounds like you still got in your long run (and it sounds like a REALLY long run) - just sorry it has left you with muscles that are sore and tight. PLEASE take care of yourself - you are SO CLOSE to the Goofy and you are going to do SO WELL. Please don't injure yourself - pull back week sounds like a good idea (although your idea of pulling back still sounds like tremendous exertion to me).

HUGE HUGS to you and :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: - you're doing great!

Have a good day!

Susan

Hey buddy

Sorry to hear you were so sick this weekend. We have to be super careful with the UC stuff, gotta make sure you get to those starting lines safe and sound this January.

I am glad to see that you were able to get the long run in, even after being sick and with all of the ice storms up there this weekend. The pace doesn't matter at this point, it's just simply logging those miles...so great job getting out there and please don't worry about the pace :)

T-minus 32 days and counting. Can you believe it?? Starting to seem a bit surreal at this point :)

Hope you are feeling better today and that this upcoming week is a good one for you!

Hey there! Just checking in. I'm off the chiro to get my back and hip checked out, but just wanted to pop in really quickly.

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the fact that you have shared your journey with us! It is very encouraging to me to read your story. I know you've had your tough days and tough runs, but I think it has made you a stronger person. I know that it is sometimes tougher mentally than physically and you just keep pushing! You are such a strong woman! You have so much to be proud of and I know you will do so well here in just a few weeks! You've done so well listening to you body this year and you are so close to attaining that Goofy bling! ;) Keep up the hard work and perseverence! It will be well worth the reward!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: all the way for you!
Stacie

:grouphug: You guys are the absolute best!!! Scotty, Stacie, Susan and Laurie!!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! Susan...can't you make it to WDW for marathon weekend?? You need to be there when we all meet up!!! But sure we'll take some pics for you!!! You'll be there with us in spirit!!!

Just a quick check-in from me :). I was very good and rested up yesterday...I taught one class, one was cancelled and I did an easy 25 minute Pilates workout to stretch in the hopes it would help my legs!

I went to the chiro (Stacie...SO glad you are visiting your chiro...hope he/she can help you!!)...and that helped a bit. Unfortunately the legs (hip area) kept hurting all day and stiffened up any time I sat down. Argh! dumb legs!

Today I worked with my pilates trainer...and i feel quite a bit better. But the soreness and stiffness is still there so I'm going to hold off another day on running. No sense running on tired/sore/stiff legs. No good can come of that. Tomorrow we'll try again for the 5 miles. If I'm feeling good after I teach my evening class tonight I'll jump on the ski machine for 30 minutes of light and easy cardio :).

As for our Wish Journal Meet 1/08....Looking good for Friday lunch at MK. Just waiting for Laurie to check in and give the final go ahead. YAY! :thumbsup2

I keep trying to convince Susan to come, but I don't just think it's gonna happen... :sad2:

Maybe you guys will have to find a way for a short weekend in May for the Minnie. She'll be there then! ;) I know you are planning on like, what 50 marathons / 1/2 marathons in 09 though! lol! :rotfl:

Great job listening to your body and resting Monday! :thumbsup2 I'm so impressed! Glad the chiro helped a bit! You have dumb legs, I have dumb feet! lol! Sorry to hear you were still having some aches and stiffness. Hope those legs are better today!!!

Yipee on lunch at MK!!!

Best,
Stacie

Hi Amy

Hang in there buddy! I know your body has been screaming at you a bit these last few days. It's good to hear that things are getting better, and even more good to hear that you are being very smart with your exercise/running. It's injury avoidal at this stage of the game and I want you there healthy in January. (wow, did I really say "more good"...yikes)

So awesome about the meet!! Lunch in MK seems like a great idea. Too bad Splash Mountain is going to be closed (it's down more times that not it seems)...and too bad that Susan can't make it down.

Hmmmmm....short weekend.....May....a race....disney.....food for thought.

Hope your day is a good one Amy...hope you are feeling strong today. Good luck if you get out there and run. (are you having to dodge falling ice this week again?)

Hi, Amy. So sorry for the issues with your legs - hope they are feeling better today.

Sorry, no can do with the January meet. Would LOVE to meet all of you, but I have this problem. You see, I have all these FAMILY members who keep tagging along on trips to WDW and so I have to keep adding on DVC points to cover the rooms.;) Seriously, Larry and I had already planned to do an add-on in the next few weeks and DVC has a great incentive going now, so we will have no money for a January trip - DVC will take it all!! And, just so I'm clear, we INVITE the family to come along - it's just that we want to take them on more trips than we have points for! So we need to do an add-on so we can have enough points for the May trip at WDW and the October trip to Vero Beach that we already have planned for next year. That will take most of our vacation time (and our points), so no January trip for us. But I will DEFINITELY be there in spirit and hopefully there will be another opportunity down the road for all of us to meet in person.

Please take the rest days that you need - you will be all the better for it. Thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement in my journal - you help me keep going and I GREATLY appreciate it. I think of you many times when I am struggling to get in a workout, knowing how many obstacles you have overcome to get where you are, and it helps me to not be overwhelmed with my own. YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION - you do such a great job and I can't wait to read your report about your Goofy experience!

Hope today is a pain-free day. Take care!

Susan

Hi Amy,
I hope your legs are feeling better. How was the snowfall yesterday in your neck of the woods? We have 12 inches. The road has a nice snow covered base-nice cushion.

I love to run on days like this, I will give it a shot later.

I can't wait to hear details from the Goofy when you guys get back.

Have a good one
Linda
