Sorry to hear your 14miler was tough, but at least you got through it. Now on to a new week!!!

Hope you have great evening!!!

Wow Amy,

You kicked some serious booty at your race. I'm sorry that you got lost on the way there. That is soo stressful. (I frequently get lost in downtown Detroit, so I can relate) I am so proud of you.

Sorry to hear that the 14 miler was tough. I think your body needs a rest day sweetie. You should be proud of yourself for completing it, and with a good time too. I hope the ice bath helps. I give you credit for actually doing them. I couldn't.

Warm up and take care,
Beth

Gee, Amy, it makes me hurt just to READ what you are going through! AWESOME job on your runs, but I worry about you beating your body up too much! I guess I should remember that you have been at this for a long time and I haven't even started, so you certainly know more about it than I do, but PLEASE don't injure yourself. Take some down time when you need it! SO PROUD of you for continuing to go on even when you are hurting. I think I will probably need to remember that when I start my training (which will be soon, I hope).

Hope you have a great evening!

Susan

....don't make me come up there and force a rest day upon you....

....don't make me come up there and force a rest day upon you....

Seriously, girl. I'm closer! I can be there in a couple short hours.

I know you have a LOT going on right now with teaching, but maybe you can find somewhere else to cut back a little so that you can have complete rest days? Even teaching is NOT resting.

(sorry, lecture over)

You definitely ROCKED that T-day race girl. :thumbsup2 As for the 14 miler, like you said - it's over and you did it. Good or bad, you did it. :yay:

Hang in there, lady.

Seriously...just please take care of yourself the best way that you can. I know you have to be aggressive with the classes in order to see what sticks and to build up a base following, and I'm proud of the way you've incorporated the chiropractor and massage sessions into the mix.

I'm so glad to see where you are right now as opposed to last year at the same time. Seems like you are so much more in tune to what works for you (chiro, eating before and after runs, etc)...just please continue to train smart and listen to what your body is telling you.

Only two more big long runs to go :)

Have a good night.

Hey Amy! Just checking in to see how you're doing! Keep up the good work chick, but don't over do it! You are a little energizer bunny. You just keep going and going and going and going! Take care of yourself ok!

Hi Guys!

I'm sorry I've been MIA...so hard to get to the journals this week!!!

Training has been fine. I'm really allowing myself to rest up a bit this week since I have a big weekend of Pilates coming up. So far this week I actually rested on Monday...taught two classes but did the bare minimum of exercising, just mainly taught! Tuesday is my big day...I taught two classes (didn't do much demonstrating) and then visited my pilates trainer for 1.5 hours. We did a gentler workout with lots of stretching! I was scheduled for a 6 mile run that day but opted for 3 instead...I took the kids with me on their bikes and had a nice easy pace enjoying the seasonable weather. Yesterday I just did an hour of pilates. Today I plan to teach my pilates class this evening....and then do a gentle 5 Mile run on the treadmill at the gym.

I have an 8 mile run and a 4 mile walk/run scheduled this weekend. I'm also doing some Pilates certification work so will be putting in a BUNCH of hours on the mat. I doubt I'll get any additional cardio...but that's ok :). Back to my normal routine after the LR on Sunday.

I will say that overall my body handled the 7 mile walk/run and 14 mile long run VERY well. I'm very pleased with the lack of leg pain! :thumbsup2 I've had a little knee stiffness and some tiredness in the legs but nothing worse than that. :goodvibes Knock on wood my luck continues to hold. I truly believe the stretching, pilates and chiropractor have worked wonders. Oh...and the 30 minutes in the ice bath. YES...30!!! :scared1: Definitely helped a ton!

Thank you all SO MUCH for your support. I will be busy over the next few days but hope to check in and get to the journals as much as possible!!!

Ohhh...And here's my awful photo from the Ashenfelter 8K. Yuck! See how much I love you guys that I'd share this picture LOL!

Good Morning Amy,
Great job on the 14 miles- I can't imagine the feeling of knowing you can do that. I am pooped just reading your journal. The picture is great, nothing wrong with it, looks like you are working hard.

I have been looking on Disneysports.com and am jealous of all you guys signed up to do any of the races-15K in May looks so inviting! Can't get there though.

30 minute ice bath- AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! There is an article on that in Runner's World this month.

Have a great weekend,
Linda

Hey there chick! So glad you've had an "easy" week. You definately could use it! It's so nice the kids got to ride their bikes while you ran! A family affair! :) I'm so glad your body is holding up well!!! Staying healthy is the most important!!!

Thanks for sharing the picture!

Hope you have a great weekend!!!
Stacie

Hi Amy,

Great pic! Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad to hear that you are taking a bit of a break this week. I'm sure your body appreciates it. I hope the certification went well.

Take care,
Beth

:goodvibes Thank you so much for stopping by! Just a quick drive by...was working hard on completing my Pilates Certification the last several days. *phew* DONE and PASSED :cool1: . It was such hard work but very rewarding and I learned so much. I did manage to get my runs in last week....although the numbers were pared down a bit...4 on Tuesday, 5 on Thursday and 6 on Sunday. But the weather was COLD...in the 20s I believe....and I was pretty worn down from all the pilates. I'll post a full update tomorrow. Just wanted to say "HI".

Hi Amy!!! Great job in getting your runs in (in 20 degree weather!)

Yay! On the pilates certification! That's great!!!

Thanks for always checking in on me!
Stacie

wow :cold: It was CARAZAY cold out there today. The winds were whipping so hard that they literally stopped me in my tracks a few times! Oh...and the hunters! :scared1: I was running on my little dirt road/trail and came upon scary men with guns and orange vests. YIKES! People who look like they stepped out of the movie Deliverance AND with guns. I turned tail and ran the other way. So my 6 mile run turned into 5 LOL! But I figured the wind added another miles worth of work to the run and didn't fret about the missing mile ;).

Recap from Last Week (a pull-back week)

Ran: 15 miles
Walked: 0 miles
Pilates: OMG...ridiculolus...somewhere in the range of 10 hours
XT: nada

Since I spent so much time doing Pilates for my certification....I was pretty worn down and didn't get the miles that I had planned (should have been 19 miles). Nor did I get the XT in...but the crazy pilates made up for all that IMO ! Besides...I feel SOOO great having such a relaxed week. I think my body is very pleased with me. My Sunday run was a good pace and my legs felt great despite the cold. Even my blistering cold run today was generally pleasant and again...the legs felt great. Pace was solid at 9:30 mpm.

Plans for the week ahead...

Monday: Rest Day. YES...actual REST day!!!
Tuesday: Teach 2 classes, Run 6 Miles (actual was 5 miles)
Wednesday: Teach 1 class, XT 40 minutes, Take a pilates or yoga class
Thursday: Teach 1 Class, Take a pilates class, Run 5 Miles
Friday: Take a Pilates reformer class, XT 30 minutes
Saturday: Teach a Pilates class, Walk 8 Miles (yes...8 stinkin' miles)
Sunday: Run 16 Miles

Just wanted to say NICE JOB with the pilates and with the runs!! I've said it before but my how far you have come in a year...nice to have you busting out countless hours of training in the month of December.

Can you believe there are only two more long long runs before we do this thing?? For a brief second, I was actually a bit nervous out there tonight.

And just congrats again with the certification stuff. You are just doing so well with the instructor related aspect...I think you've really found your calling. You are a natural when it comes to helping people out with fitness related issues. Way to go Amy...I'm super proud of you!

Don't forget lots of water and healthy food this week :goodvibes:

Amy -- wow! Great job on all your training!! You amaze me! That must have been scary for a moment though when you saw those hunters!! Next time, run with an orange hat!!
