Hi Amy!!! So glad all went well this weekend with your pull-back long run. All in all (aside from the little stomach bug) looks like you had a very successful and busy week! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for your continues support in my journal! I alway look forward to your posts and incite!

Hope all goes well this week!
Stacie

Amy,

You are amazing! You managed to get all of that training in despite the fact that you had a stomach bug. Excellent job!!!:cheer2:

You look like you have a busy week ahead. Please be sure and listen to your body and rest when needed.

Have a great week!

Hi, Amy. You are one AMAZING person!! I wish I knew more words to express that idea. I don't feel like the ones I know are adequate. YOU ROCK!!! Do please take care of yourself, though - you don't want to overdo and seriously injure yourself when you are almost at the Goofy starting line! I know for me, it's always easier to see what other people should do than to look at myself and see what I should do. In my case, I usually need to try to motivate myself to be MORE physically active. In yours, it might be to do a little (I stress little) LESS physical activity?? Not trying to second guess you, Ames - just wanting to be sure you are okay and healthy!

Anyway, you are SUCH AN INSPIRATION!! Thanks for your encouragement in my journal. Have a great evening - and get some rest!!

Susan

Hi Amy,

I understand what you mean about getting in the zone. My trainer wants me to do more intervals with my cardio. I hate slowing down once I am in a comfortable stride.

Let me get this straight. You will be running 6 miles, teaching 2 classes, and then working out with a trainer. You amaze me. Listen to your body please.

Take care,
Beth

Hey Amy--just checking in to see how your week is going! You are going to do so great in the race on Thursday...hope the weather holds up for you!

Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Hi gang

Just a quick post from my world!!! Yesterday was a super long day....too much pilates led to a tough run :(. I did manage to get the miles in...just not the 6 I had hoped for. I did however run 4 miles...and managed a 10 mpm. The legs were exhausted! After that I taught my evening pilates class and pretty much crashed early. My body felt totally drained yesterday.

I'll post tomorrow after the race...but for those who will be away from the pc...just wanted to say...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Amy

Nice work still managing to get a run in with all of the Pilates you did yesterday!

Try to rest up a bit today, ok?? I'd love to see you fresh for tomorrow's race so that you can bust out a solid time :)

I do hope you and your family (all 15 of them ;) ) have a great Thanksgiving holiday!! Enjoy the festivities

Hey Amy,

I am just popping in to wish you good luck on your race tomorrow.:cheer2: :cheer2: We'll want details. Hint.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Take care,
Beth

OK :)

Race is OVER. YAY! I had a PR guys...but let's just back up to the insanity that was my morning...

6:00 AM alarm goes off and I get myself dressed. The weather is supposed to be warm so I opt for the disney marathon tech shirt and my shorts! Wow...amazing to be so warm here in November!!!

6:43 AM pull out of my garage for the nearly one hour drive.

6:44 AM nearly get killed by a jerk running the red light as I'm going thru the green. *heart pounding*

7:00 AM drive into thick, shrouding fog. Literally can't see ANYTHING on the road. GREAT...I'm going into unfamiliar territory in the fog :(

7:30 AM go wrong way b/c I couldn't see a sign

7:45 AM get back in right direction

8:00 AM get massively lost in the middle of one of the most dangerous cities in the country. YES...the country :(. YIKES! Literally drive around from one bad inner city area to another. End up in downtown Newark...FINALLY get going.

8:30 AM FINALLY get to race. Park a half mile away b/c I'm there so late :(.

8:45 AM get packet, pin on number....tie cool new race shirt around my waist....leave goody bag :( because nobody is there to watch me and hold my stuff. Somebody else will get the socks and power bar and goodies. Oh well.

9:00 AM turn on my cool music mix and the gun goes OFF!

9:43 AM finish race!!!

PR...43:24 for an 8:43 mpm (watch time...compuscore chip time isn't up yet). Was a good race for me. I think I even pr'd at the 5K point. I hit 3 miles in 25:45!!! Was a great race for me.

So now I'm back home...chillin' out for a few minutes before I have to finish cooking. The guests (all 14 of them) will be here around 2 pm I'd guess. YIKES!!! :scared1:

Have a GREAT Thanksgiving everyone! :goodvibes

Amy,

I'm SO SUPER PROUD OF YOU!! Fantastic job today!! I just knew you had a very speedy race pace bottled up inside of you, underneath that Pilates exterior ;)

Try to revel in that awesome time and really enjoy your day today. I bet you will be an awesome host to all of your guests.

I wish you, your family and loved ones a very safe and happy Thanksgiving today.

Great job buddy. :goodvibes:

Hey Amy!! AWESOME JOB ON YOUR RACE!!!! :cool1: :cool1: Your pace is getting so much faster, that is awesome!

You did so awesome, you would have left me in the dust if I ran that race. I actually thought about heading over there and running yesterday when I woke up at 6am! The weather was perfect for a november race!! But, I decided we had to get on the road in order to see all the family.

Sorry you got lost getting over there, I don't think I would want to be stuck in downtown newark!

Hope you had a nice time with your guests yesterday!

Great job, Amy!!!!!:cheer2: I'm sorry to hear about the pre-race stress, but you overcame all of that and did a fantastic job! Way to go!:woohoo:

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. :goodvibes Have a great weekend!

Getting ready for my 14 miler tomorrow. Unfortunately I feel kind of weird tonight. Yeah yeah...I know I AM weird ;)...but I actually feel weird. I wonder if those 7 miles and that hour of pilates today took a toll today? Seems so unlikely yet I can't figure out why I don't feel right :(. I'll post tomorrow and let everyone know how it goes!!!

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying this long holiday weekend!!! :goodvibes

Odd that you don't feel right...wonder what it is? I think you may be right though, 7 miles is 7 miles no matter how you slice it...add an hour of pilates on top of that and it makes for a pretty exertive day.

Hope the 14 goes well for you.

Have a great weekend!

(still have never figured out the whole DIS time thing....if you post in the afternoon, the time on the boards is in the future...I'm posting at 12:27am and it shows 11:45pm?? makes no sense...)

Hi Amy,

I hope your 14 miler goes well for you today. :goodvibes If you still don't feel right this morning, please be careful and listen to your body.

Have a great Sunday!:cool1:

:cool1: Sing along with me..."14 Miles is OVER...O-V-E-R....OVER....O-V-E-R....OVER....YAY!"

OK...so I was due for a tough run. This was the tough one I've known has been lurking out there. That's ok. It's done...miles are logged....body is screaming at me. BUT...ya know what??? It's over :D. YAY!!!!

14 should definitely NOT kick my butt. However...it did just that. I think the 7 miles i did yesterday and the hour of pilates I did/taught yesterday and the 1.5 hours of pilates i did on Friday and the fast 5 miles I raced on Thanksgiving all contributed to a really tough run. Now...the thing is that my breathing felt great. I wasn't tired at all. However...my legs were really hurting from 7 miles on. Strangely enough...I ran the second half of the 14 miles 6 minutes faster LOL. Go figure. I guess soon as my legs started hurting I decided to get the run over with faster. :confused3

At the beginning of the run I decided to allow myself the luxury of a slower pace since I was recovering from a tough week. After the 7 miles i did yesterday, my legs were hurting last night, and I woke up with sore muscles in the booty area lol. Turns out I ran a solid 10:30 mpm. It's slower than what i've been doing, but nothing to be ashamed of for sure. The thing that made the run so difficult was the aching and stiffness in my body. Started with the knees, then the ankles, then my feet started hurting, of course the booty hurt from the beginning, eventually hips started hurting then finally the back. :sad2: Nothing severe...not like I was in horrific pain...just constant ache/stiffness. I think the cold has something to do with it too. But the fact is that I'm really pushing my body hard lately and I have to expect that it's going to complain. I'm off to take the dreaded ice bath :scared: . But first my weekly update...I'll catch up with everyones' journals later today.
