The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Damnit, girl. :sad1: Your journal got me again.

I've always known you are a strong person. But I had no idea what you'd been through. And I'm sorry to say that in the midst of last year, I had many thoughts of "why won't she just stop and try again later?". :guilty: Now, I'm sorry I even had those thoughts. Everyone has a back story, as you said. I'm sorry I didn't think of that then.

Amy, you are my original running buddy and cheerleader, and I am beyond proud of you, girl. :thumbsup2 I'm all choked up right now, and am in awe of you. Thank you. So much.

 Amy,

Thank you for sharing your story. I am humbled by you. You are a tru success story of what determination can do. You've blasted through many obstacles in your life, UC, having children, a marathon while injured are just a few of them. Don't underestimate just what you have accomplished. You are truly an amazing woman, and a role model. Thank you again for inspiring me.

Awesome job on that run. Celebrate it! You are right. What a difference a year makes.

Have an awesome REST day,
BEth

Scott and Amy,

You guys both have me crying right now.:sad1: Amy, I am so very proud of you, my friend. What you and Scott have posted here confirms what a special and amazingly strong woman you are.

You are such an inspiration to me. Last year, we were facing some pretty difficult things in our lives. One morning, I came to the bottom of a very large hill and wanted to walk it. The doubts came rushing in...What if you can't make it? What if you get halfway up and have to stop? If you can't conquer walking this hill, Tracy, how can you conquer your other issues in life?

As I was standing at the bottom of the hill, I remembered reading your journal that morning about how you had continued training despite an injury. I used your example as inspiration....I walked that hill. Amy, when I got to the top of that hill, I knew that I could conquer anything with God's help and help from my family and friends. Your determination inspired me to push myself further that I thought I could go. Thank you so much, Amy. I am so very proud of you and all that you have accomplished.

OMG!!! You and Scott keep me in tears! This has got to stop! :goodvibes Here I am work reading through the weekend posts sittin here in tears! I am so glad you have shared your story!!! I can feel you and Scott have great respect and affection for each other and that's great! I think it's extremely important to have a strong support system for various trials and tribulations you may meet in life. We always need a few folks we can depend on for support and encouragement!

I know that sometimes we (especially me!) tend to look so far ahead we almost make it impossible to succeed. Each step that is further than we've taken before is a success.

This 9 miler was HUGE for you! :cheer2: I am SOOOOO Proud of you and so happy to be able to somehow share in your success!

You really are an inspiration for me! Today is Day 1 on the Couch to 5K and I know when I'm working through I'll be ready to quite! But because you are willing to share who you are and part of your story, I know that I'll be able to draw on your stregth and your story to push through! I hope you realize how much it seems you have really affected some of us!

Keep up the good work! We're all cheering for you!!! We'll be leaving on Sunday of the marathon weekend, but I will be anxiously waiting and scanning DIS for your post on your SUCCESS of the GOOFY!!!

Keep it girl! SO proud of you!!!

Hi AMy,

I just wanted to wish you well in your training today.

I do have a question. Do you sleep? I am just wondering how you fit everything in to your day? Running, classes, family..... How do you keep track of it all, and how do you not end up exhausted and crazy? (I am serious here. Not being a smart &%#. I am having organizational issues.)

Have a good one,
Beth

 Amy,

Hope you're having a great week so far!:goodvibes How is your training going this week?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!:goodvibes

WOW Amy,
What a story of true drive and determination. I too know alot about the anxiety issues you speak of and let me say there is no drug or therapy out there that makes you feel better than exercising and running does.It becomes your new focus and there is no time for the other stuff.Keep going, you have inspired so many people on these boards alone, including me. Your daughters truly do have a strong woman to look up to.
I have still yet to get those Pilates dvds . My oldest just got her permit maybe I'll have her drive me!!!

Hi Guys....phew...sorry I've been MIA but serious case of "life gets in the way".

Beth...I had to laugh when you asked how I manage to squeeze training, etc in to my day. I had a mini freak out this afternoon. Just too many things and not enough hours. I feel like a hamster on a wheel sometimes. After the 9 miler LR on sunday, I taught two tough classes on my Monday "rest" day , the runs are tough this week (body is revolting against me a bit) and I have had 4 Doctor appointments (between me and the kids) plus their activities, and all the classes I'm teaching (too many...all of which I travel nearly 30 minutes each way for), and babysitting for my friends toddler ALL DAY tomorrow before going back out to teach again. Ugh. I put 300 miles on my darn car in 3 days :sad2: . I'm kind of fried today. So....apparently I'm not the one to look towards for *any* organizational inspiration. Marathon training itself is just about a part time job once you get halfway through. The runs and XT just take up a ton of time. I love it...wouldn't trade it for the world. BUT it does make scheduling my volunteer responsibilities, kids multiple activities and general household chores a little trickier. I did learn the mom's most important word this year...NO. I gave up chairing some committees at school (bad PTA mom that I am ;) ). But I did retain a committee position and of course my never-ending Girl Scout Leader position LOL. I find myself on this perpetual running late/stress mode. Hopefully I'll learn to organize myself eventually. Of course...39 years and I still haven't figured it out LOL! :rolleyes1 So....I feel your pain sister! Just hang in there :). Bet ya' didn't expect a mini-rant/whine-fest from me LOL.

Oh yes...training update! Ummm....Taught/Participated in two tough Pilates classes on Monday. It's supposed to be my rest day :guilty: . Oh well....hopefully the old body can hold up under the new schedule! On Tuesday I ran my 6 miles and took a Pilates Reformer class! The 6 miles were on the treadmill set at a pretty comfy 10 mpm. All in all it was a decent run...but the body feels a bit beat up today. I did 30 on the ski machine this afternoon and I plan to run through a quick pilates workout here in a few minutes. Tomorrow is my scheduled 4 Mile Tempo Run and I will be teaching a class tomorrow night :).

I'm noticing lots of little aches and pains this week. I'd imagine that the increased mileage and lack of walk breaks might be beating up my body a bit. And I suppose the 6 hours of pilates last week might have something to do with it too LOL! Hopefully the icing and advil will keep all the injuries at bay!

Thanks to everyone for stopping by! I'll try to hit the journals tonight after my workout!!!! I appreciate the support!!!! :sunny:

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper woman! :goodvibes

Amy, please listen to your "little" aches and pains. I know I don't have to tell you what to do. Just take care, ok?

Sounds like you need to say NO a little more often. The more you say it, the easier it becomes! :thumbsup2

LOL Kim...I am SOOO not Superwoman. More like "Disorganized Woman". That would be my superhero moniker. My Super Hero wardrobe would consist of an old baseball cap (not enough time to shower), mismatched socks (they looked the same color when I stuck them on my feet as I was running out the door) and the obligatory workout clothes. No cape but I'm sure a dryer sheet might be static clinging to the back of my shirt that I pulled out of the dryer (putting away laundry??? Nah...the dryer is my closet). I would disable my victims with a whirlwind of clutter that attacks them in tornado form. School projects, stuffed animals, unpaid bills, leftovers that have taken up residence in my fridge...all swirling around them creating mass confusion.

I'm not doing anything more than the rest of you girls (and guys) are doing. Just trying to keep that head above water and make healthy choices with food and exercise. Sounds so simple doesn't it??? :confused3 It's sooo not! Keep up the great work everyone. It says a lot about who you all are to make health a priority in your life! It's not easy and I applaud each and every one of you for getting out there to exercise! Great job!!!:thumbsup2

Hey AMy,

We are in the same state. I do manage to get the laundry to a laundry basket. but DD's dresser is completely empty. Your "rant" had me laughing though. Thank you.

Majority vote here wins, you are Superwoman.

Listen to your body, sweetie. Take care of yourself.

Amy,
What does the member ride list on the bottom of your sig mean?
Linda

Oh I answered my own question,I clicked on it and found my answer.I did also see it said outside of the US under your name, where are you from?
Linda

HI Amy!!! Wow chick! You've been busy! Glad you're back! I missed you!!!

Do be careful and listen to those aches and pains! I know you are infamous for pushing through (which I do admire) but do be careful! I am such a wimp, I can say that! :goodvibes

What's on the plate for this weekend?

I must say...It just amazes me that you can do a 9 miler on the weekend, when essentially that is a 15K (right???). Here I am wondering if I can do one in May and you are out there kicking it on the weekend! You go GIRL!!!

Have a good one!
Stacie

OMG.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You are a trip, girl.

Linda...I'm from New Jersey :rotfl2: . Oops...must have not answered that question in the profile thing. :rotfl: Well...some people do consider NJ to be a foreign place. OMG...that's funny!

Stacie...This weekend I have a 10 mile LR, a 5 mile walk and I am teaching a Pilates class :).

Guys...didn't get my run in today. Ran .5 miles and the leg didn't feel good at all . Rested and iced...did 30 non-pounding XT..hoping to squeeze that run in tomorrow! Wish me luck :).

Have a good night guys. Off to watch SURVIVOR!!!!

I'm finding this journal highly amusing today!!! :lmao:

Amy, you are too funny!:lmao: I can totally relate!

I hope your aches and pains are feeling better today. Good for you for taking it easy yesterday!:thumbsup2

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Amy.:wave2: Thanks so much for the encouragement in my journal. Things are tough right now, but all I have to do is think of you and I know I have it in me to keep going.

Thanks also for sharing the story of your motivation for running the marathon last January. I was so moved - it's people like you that inspire people like me to not just throw our hands up and consider ourselves a lost cause.

I can definitely relate to the disorganized state you have described. I gave up on being organized long ago - these days I settle for being clean and dressed when I leave my house!

Awesome job on your training, as always - hope your leg feels better and you have no further major problems with it. Have a great weekend!

Susan

Hi DW!

(oops...that can mean a few things around here LOL...let's scratch the friendly superhero greeting for a more normal one...)

Hi Amy!

Your post had me laughing pretty hard!! (NOT the injury one, the superhero one!)

I know you did the right thing yesterday with backing off of that run...no need for serious injury by pushing a weekday 4 miler. Something tells me you were out there today completing it though...is my spidey sense accurate?

Hope you have a GREAT weekend and good luck on the 10 miler. Double digits again my friend....it's been a while, eh?

Hey girl. I hope your leg is feeling better today. But, honestly...is running 4 miles today, walking 5 tomorrow and running 10 Sunday a good idea? :confused3

If anyone can do it....YOU can!!

btw...I'm really proud of you for listening to your body...especially after already going out & starting the run. I know that had to be hard mentally for you to stop. But SO good for you! :cheer2:
