The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Hi everyone

Sorry....TOTAL LTO mode here. Between working, training, kids, RUNNING ;), etc etc I am really being a journal slacker. Sorry. :guilty:

Anyway...quick update and I'll try to hit everyones' journals tomorrow! This was somewhat of a back-off week for me before I begin prepping the big miles. Battling with some hip pain but nothing that can't be managed :).

Weekly Totals:

Ran: 17 Miles
Walked: nada
Pilates: 300 minutes
Cardio XT: 30 minutes

That's it. Not too much to report. Long run went GREAT kept the pace around 10 mpm AGAIN! I'm really finding my groove at that pace :).

Thanks to everyone for checking in :grouphug: .

Hi Amy,
Glad to hear everthing is going good.I totally hear you about the hip pain.Of course I don't have as many miles as you but I do believe I have a couple years on you.My hips are killing me,even rolling over in bed.

I guess it is time to add calcium and vit d to my routine.

Have a great week,
Linda

Hi Linda...

Yeah...hip pain seems to come with the running territory for a lot of women. Mine is manageable now and it seems that I've gotten to that point with a combo of stretching the hip region A LOT, tons of core work which helps to stabilize the pelvis (which is what I think causes a lot of hip problems for those of us who've had babies, I think that is the culprit) and maybe just my body finally giving in to the running and allowing me to do it. I hear ya...last year it was bad and the rolling over on those hip bones was killer. I know Kim and you among others are dealing with this. Just be careful because mine went from hip pain such as you guys are describiing to literally not being able to lift my leg. Not sure if they were related...but I have a suspicion.

Hi Amy!!! So glad to hear from you! Happy that you had a very successful run this weekend! Sorry to hear about the hip pain, but glad you are able to make it through!!!

I always look forward to your posts!!!

Hope you have a great week! Good up the good work!!!

Hi Amy

Great week there cardio girl!!

I'm starting to get that "calm before the storm" feeling with this running stuff. Nov & Dec contain the "dark cloud of miles"...including 18 of them on the Sunday before Christmas (ho! ho! ho!)...and we're halfway through October...time to baten down the hatches and ride this training program to January, hoping to come out unscathed :)

Great job with everything so far & have a good week.

Amy , i am truly amazed at your week! It's WISH'ers like you that are so inspiring!! I know i will never be a marathon'er, but you are amazing!

HAve a great day!

Hi Amy,

You continue to amaze me. I know I don't have to remind you to take care of your hip.;) Don't worry about journals. If all you can do is manage to keep us updated on how you are doing, that's cool. We know how busy you are.

Take care,
Beth

Hi everyone

That's so nice of you guys to say that I'm inspiring but I have to say I feel much less than inspiring today. I ended up blowing off my run today! Ugh. I feel terrible about slacking off when now is the time I should be picking up the pace :(. Oh well....tomorrow is a new day. My mileage will be low this week I fear.

I did run 13 miles for my LR this week and it kind of took it all out of me!

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully I'll perk up here ;).

 Amy,

Psst...just so you know, you didn't let anyone down by skipping a run. Mondays are supposed to be a rest day, and yu never rest. Maybe today the body was just telling you to give it a tiny break.

Still a hero,
Beth

Hi Amy

Hang in there kiddo...*perky grin*...we all have tough days. Running 13 miles is no joke and is worthy of extra recovery if needed, especially at this point in the overally Goofy training. Look at the fact that you ran it and completely avoided injury...you never even stopped to take a walk break...what a tremendous accomplishment. :goodvibes:

I hope all is well with you tonight.

13 MILES!!! :crazy2: WOW! It would have taken it all out of me too! :faint: You go girl!!! I am so proud of you! :thumbsup2 There is absolutely no reason to feel like a slacker! You are always pushing. Sometimes we all need a break. There is nothing wrong with that! You are doing great! We all know that recovery is a very important part in training. You body NEEDS it! Especially after 13 miles! :) You are going to tear Goofy to shreds! I know it!!! Chin up chick! We are all proud of you!

Stacie

Ya, 13 miles is just :faint: I can't even imagine! LOL

But -- you go girl!! :woohoo:

You hold that head HIGH, girl. You ran 13 MILES!!! :woohoo: I'm sorry you're experiencing hip pain again. It sounds like you have the right tools to help you along. Taking an extra day off after a 13 mile run is nothing to be ashamed of, seriously. You're running smart, that's the way I see it. :thumbsup2

Amy,
I know this may sound corny but reading all that you have overcome and accomplished in a year (even though I don't really know you) I wish I was at the finish line cheering you on.I guess that can go for everyone on the boards here because we have all worked so hard it would be nice to see the end results for everyone.

I can't even imagine 13 miles at this point but I was saying that about 4 miles not too long ago.

Do you remember being at 4 miles, did you think that was alot then and 13 did not seem doable at that time?

For the first time I read your quote by Sheehan and wow, that is me!

Have a great day,
Linda

Hey Amy--Like the others said, Don't worry about missing a day. You are doing so great with your training, and sometimes we need an extra rest day in there to make sure we don't overdo it.

I hope your hip is doing better! When I first started playing goalie on my hockey team, I had a lot of hip problems. Now I stretch my hip flexors all the time and I haven't had any hip problems in awhile. Hopefully, the running won't aggravate them.

Keep up the good work! i will be out on the trail tomorrow for my 9 miler bright and early! I will keep an eye out for you!

Hi Amy,

I was just checking in to see how you were doing. I hope you are having a great weekend. Good luck with the LR tomorrow.

Take care,
Beth

Great job on the 13 miler, Amy!:thumbsup2 I'm glad that you took some time off when your body needed it. Listening to your body is important and I'm proud of you for taking a rest.

Hope you have a great Sunday!:goodvibes

Hey there Aimster

GOOD LUCK with the run tomorrow. I know those aches and pains are still present....here's lots of PD :wizard: toward feeling much better in the a.m. before you head out.

Great job with everything...shrug off this week and let's get totally back on track during this upcoming one.

Have a good night buddy
