The fine line between crazy and insane....kickin' asphalt on the way to Goofy '08

Have a great Tuesday!

Good Luck Tonight Amy!!

I know you are going to do an awesome job with teaching that class tonight!! So exciting!! Just remember to have fun with it too :) You've worked hard and deserve a great experience

*delete*

Hope the run went well today too!

Hi Amy,

Thank you for your PM. It helped brighten my day.

I wanted to wish you luck on your class tonight. You have some very lucky students.:thumbsup2

You continue to amaze and humble me with your training.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Amy,
I had tried Pilates before but felt like I did not get alot out of it.Maybe I did not do enough classes. I know how to isolate the muscle groups and so on but left feeling disappointed. I wonder are there any Pilates DVDs out there that you would recommend? Also I think I left my Polar heartrate monitor on and the battery is dead? Do you know where I would pick up something like that? I want the stopwatch portion of it to work, now of course it is dead.
Good luck with Pilates class! I bet you challenge class quite a bit with the drive you have.
Linda

Hi Amy!

Hijack alert!!

Linda....Allow me to chime in on the Polar issue. I had a Polar for the first part of my training last year. The battery went dead and despite everything saying that you had to send it back to them to get it replaced, I popped the back cover off myself and tried to fix it. Needless to say, I now own a Timex Ironman watch :rotfl: Long story short...you have to send it back to them for battery replacements...seems to be the only disadvantage to the Polar monitors.

Ok Aimster...you can now resume normal journaling...

Hey girl. Just seein' how you're doin. :goodvibes

I too am interested in pilates DVDs. Actually, Ill take a personal pilates trainer...:rolleyes1 .

Did you watch BB??? All I can say is I was SCREAMING!!!

/
Hi Guys!!!

Kim...haven't watched BB yet...got it recorded so I'm just settling in now and finally *deep breath* can start up the old TV and get my nightly dose of "reality". popcorn::

Kim and Linda :)....Pilates is interesting. First of all, there are LOTS of folks out there both in health clubs and on videos that claim to be teaching pilates when in fact they really aren't. Unfortunately, there are loads of uncertified instructors as well :(. With that said, there are also MANY very legitimate instructors out there. Also...within pilates...there are different methods. For instance, Classical Pilates is true to what Joseph Pilates developed all those years ago and stays very very true to his core philosophy. I was trained in classical and believe 100% in the effectiveness of those exercises. However, that is not to say that you can't mix it up a little :). I like to throw in some twists and use of props (circle, weights, bands, stability ball etc) to keep it interesting! If you can't find a studio...or prefer to work at home...I would recommend anything by Stott Pilates...she is very classical and will give you a solid foundation. It's not glossy, glitzy, high powered or anything like that...it's not like crunch. BUT...and I have tried EVERYTHING...if you stick to classical form you will develop longer and leaner muscles guaranteed. I've seen a huge change in my body since I've been religiously doing pilates and focusing on each movement and integrating the breath. It's not about quantity of exercises but quality each and every time. It truly does make a huge difference! :) OK...sorry about the Pilates lecture there LOL!

Scott...thanks for answering that question for Linda :). I remembered you had a problem w/ the polar a while back. Glad you could help!!

And as for training...running, pilates, running, pilates :). Other than that just busy with the kids and the new school year!!!! I'll post a full training update on Sunday!

Cheers!

Thanks, Amy!!

ps - don't read Scott's journal til AFTER you watch BB. :rolleyes1

Hi Amy!

 have you recovered from last night yet? It does totally stink to see immature, egotistical, selfish people like that win half a million dollars....but I guess that's why we watch....hmmm....that reminds me....when are we trying out for Amazing Race?? :)

:sad2: Nope...haven't recovered. Bye Zach :chewy:. But I have to say that the competitions were impressive. I'll give ED credit for hangin' tough during that bunny hop thing. And he did well on the last quiz. With that said...Zach did become quite a player in the last few weeks so I give him props for that. Dani kind of fell apart...but she performed the rest of the season far better than anyone else!!! I still think they aren't what they claimed to be  . But who knows....gameplay or not they just aren't likeable.

BTW...her ex-boyfriend Kris is/was Aladdin at Disneyland :rotfl: . I guess he's lost his Jasmine/Cruella to Hercules errr Nick? :confused3

Hey Amy--That is awesome that you are starting to teach your Pilates classes now, that is so exciting.

Glad to hear that the Goofy training is going well also! You guys are going to do soooo... great!

Another big brother fan here as well. I am not a big Zach fan, so I wasn't too upset that he got evicted last night. Honestly, I didn't really like anybody this season, they were all kind of annoying to me. Oh well, but I still watch it ALL the time!

Keep up the good work!

Hi Amy!

Hope today is treating you good :) Hang in there with that nasty cold/allergy thing you've got going on  Back off of that run tomorrow if necessary :)

Congratulations again on your tremendous success with the Pilates instruction! I'm proud of you buddy :goodvibes:

Hope you're feeling better, girl. Sorry, I must've spread my germs through cyberspace. :sad2:

Thanks Amy for all the Pilates info. Have a good week! Home computer crashed and now that I am doing so well with my journaling it is the pits!Lots of yard work today, no extra exercise but plan on early morning run hoping to increase my milage.
Linda

Hello everyone :sunny:

Nothing like a beautiful day with nice temps! Unfortunately this head cold is still pretty bad. My head is all stuffy which made me really NOT want to run today LOL! :) But I got out there and did my 8 Mile Long Run in 1:19:30 for a 9:56 avg mph. 9:37/9:32/9:34/10:07/10:25/10:13/10:11/9:49. Not too bad and fairly consistent. I ran the whole thing b/c stopping to walk made my cold feel worse for some reason LOL. :confused3

Yesterday I did my 4 Mile walk and my pace averaged out to just a tad bit over 12 mpm. That is keeping me on pace for a nice Half Marathon at WDW. We are planning to do a quick walk for the half; and hopefully a nice run for the Full. :thumbsup2

Overall it was a pretty good week for me...nasty cold aside ;). I taught my first pilates class and had a nice group of 6 people there! :thumbsup2 Also, my training went really well, here's the breakdown:

Monday: rest day
Tuesday: 5 Mile Run in the POURING rain. Which is why I am now  .
Wednesday: 60 minute Pilates
Thursday: 4 Mile Tempo Run (ran my tempo 3 miles in 26:58). 30 Min. Pilates
Friday: 30 Min Ski Machine; 30 Min Pilates
Saturday: 60 minute Pilates class (I taught!). 4 Mile Walk/Run
Sunday: 8 Mile Long Run

---------------------------

Ran: 17 Miles
Walk: 4 Miles
Cardio XT: 30 Minutes (need to build this up!)
Pilates: 180 Minutes

Overall a solid week. I need to add an additional cardio session in there and I will be doing a whole bunch more pilates as my full schedule kicks into gear in the coming weeks. I'll be teaching 6 classes and probably taking at least 4 classes per week.

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for reading this long rambling post LOL!

Hi Amy,

I am so happy to hear that your first pilates class went well. Thank you for your lecture. I have been interested, but I haven't pursued it. When I get there, I will make sure that the instructor is certified.

You are amazing.:yay: You ran 8 miles despite having this nasty cold. I hope you are feeling better. .

Keep up the great work. I'll be :cheer2: for you through your tough week.

Have a great one,
Beth

Howdy Amykin!

What a great week for you!! And once again that relentless determination shines through...you are totally stuffed up, resulting in a swimmy head and stress on the breathing...yet you still go out there and not only run 8 miles, but do it without walking AND in the fastest time all summer!! GREAT JOB!!

You are such an inspiration for me. I mean that. Nothing ever stands in your way...your resolve and determination are so impressive to me...yet you've combined that with a real smart sense of how to condition and listen to your body...accepting the rigors of heavy training...you are just doing so great with everything you are involved with right now. Keep up the great work Amy, it's a pleasure being along for this Goofy journey :goodvibes:

Good luck with everything this week...the runs, the XT, the Pilates instruction...and I hope that pesky cold finds it's way elsewhere.

Bye for now! ;)

Hello to Amy!!! I'm a newbie on these boards. I'm trying to lose weight and I've also set a goal for myself. To complete (you notice I did NOT say run) the 5K in January 08. I signed DH and I up to complete it. He has been a very supportive partner in helping my train. I don't actually have a training plan right now, it's just to get moving... Sometimes I just walk 3.2 miles, somtimes I run/walk (running is only 30sec at a time). But by looking at your journal I think I definately need a plan.

I wanted to say that I read part of your journal from last year and I just want to say how proud I am of you and wish you and your buddies posting here good luck on the upcoming events at WDW in January! :woohoo:

I hope to do the 5K and then maybe a 15K one day. Baby Steps!!! :rolleyes1

Good luck! You have been very encouraging to some us who have a very long way to go.

Stacie
