I hope she is never eligible for parole. I'm afraid of what she might do.

I think those jurors, KNOWING, that she is going to jail even if they hang, made it WAY too easy for them to just say oh well, we are done. Now their hands are "clean" and it's up to JSS to sentence her.

Ugh. So she gets to dictate when her sentencing is announced. Unbelievable! Ok, I get the innocent until proven guilty, and the right to a speedy trial. BUT, she has been convicted of first degree murder for crying out loud. Her rights don't exist anymore. If she does not want to participate in the ore sentencing interview, then just pronounce sentencing NOW! I am do disappointed in our court system today?

If she were a man, the outcome would have been different. I cannot believe anyone found mitigating factors to spare her life.

I'm sitting over here shedding a few tears for the Alexander family. Its so gut wrenchingly painful to hear their cries. My heart is breaking over here.

Me too. Hearing the pain of the Alexander family is haunting. I hope those jurors live with that the rest of their lives. There is no reason for them not to reach a verdict imo.

WOW. I'm speechless. Who deserves death if she doesn't?
The Kansas City bomber, the brutal killers of Dr. Pettit's entire family, serial killers, child rapist murderers... Not what I wanted to see happen but I can see where it's not black-and-white to some people and some of those people are on the jury. I do believe if she were a man killing a woman in the same manner he would have received the death sentence.

I've never served on any jury so obviously not a death penalty case so I don't know what it's like and I cannot say what I would do in the same situation.

For what ever reason they are saying this is a verdict.

In a odd way, it is a verdict. The options were life or death. Since no death, that only leaves one option.

I wonder what the split was? Since 8 jurors always went on break together, I'm guessing 8-4.

My heartbreaks or his family. They don't deserve this. It shouldn't take 2 jury to sentence her. What is going on.

Unless jurors speak, it may be hard to say. The jurors that held out may at some point wish they changed their mind.

Do you think jurors should be equipped to to make life or death decisions?

I'm just relieved we have a Felony 1 murder charge

Everyone has rights. This isn't any different from other trials where a sentencing date is set.

For me, sitting on the outside not having to make this decision, I feel like I would start with the death penalty because of the cruelty, and see if any of those mitigating factors were valid and I don't think they were. Her age? She was well into adulthood. Don't even remember the other ones but I never thought any of them were good enough. But there could very well have been, and apparently were, people who view things differently.

I guess it effect it is, since not deciding means it's a life verdict.

"The real punishment is when Jodi will burn in HELL.." - Travis' sister...

JSS is an incompetent judge!

Jss sided with defense and gave them so much leeway. The jurors even so much kind of gave JSS a threat of walking away. I am sorry what judge accepts that?

I'm so sick for the Alexander family. Like everyone has said, if she doesn't deserve death then who does.

And how can JSS not strike JA's testimony when Juan didn't have the chance to cross?

Unless jurors speak, it may be hard to say. The jurors that held out may at some point wish they changed their mind.
And if they had come to a unanimous decision of death they may at some point have regretted that. Who knows.

What do you mean…should it not be up to the jury to decide? Is there any place in the US where a judge decides? I have no idea. With the judge deciding that leaves it to one person to have the power over someone's life or death.
