The Fabby LapuLapuettes Part IV: My Pineapple Needs a Refill!

This just made me laugh. I remember sneaking my mom's books off her shelves to read so she wouldn't know. :lmao: I thought I was so smooth! Not that it really mattered. I remember when I was in about 7th or 8th grade and my friends' and I would all be whispering about the Judy Blume's "Forever". At the time it was such risque reading.

OH, you are bringing back some memories! Judy Blume did so many of those coming of age books!

I remember passing around Wifey among my friends in the 9th grade! We had no idea Judy Blume could write like that! :rotfl:

Okay, so here is my chagrined mother story of the weekend. Chelsea and I adore a writer named Meg Cabot. She writes several series for young adults and several books for adults -- notably the Princess Diaries series (yes, the ones with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews). Well, the last one in the series came out last week so I ordered it. Chelsea read it first and then I read it. At the same time, Meg Cabot published another book supposedly written by Mia Thermopolis for her senior project called Ransom My Heart -- a medieval romance novel. There were excerpts of it in Forever Princess. Well, by the time I sat down to read Forever Princess this weekend, Chelsea had started Ransom My Heart. It is THAT kind of romance novel!!! Not a word had Chelsea said to me, but when I was reading the excerpts in the princess diaries book, I was thinking, "Oh, no! Oh, no!" So I explained to Chelsea that I was taking Ransom My Heart. She was so mad at me -- livid mad at me. I tried to explain to her that there is a difference between an author stating something and going into details!!! Trust me to be the one to unwittingly destroy my daughter's innocence -- thankfully she had only gotten about 55 pages into it and nothing had really happened yet.

Oh yes, you have got to love Judy Blume.

I don't want to laugh...but I'm laughing. I want to check out this book now. :lmao:
How many books are in the Princess Diaries series? I always see Meg Cabot books in the bookstore but I have never read any of them.

ACK! Oh lordy I don't know whether to laugh, cry or go buy the book! :rolleyes1

Charles and I couldn't stop laughing about it so go ahead. It's one of those classic moments in my parenting woes -- I have been trying to make her a reader for 11 years, and then, I hand her one of THOSE books -- bet she'll be a reader now. :lmao:

Meg Cabot is fabulous. There are 10 books in the Princess Diaries series -- the first one is The Princess Diaries. They are written in first person as Mia writes in her journals. Very funny. She also has a series called The Mediator about a girl that can see ghosts and ends up with a hunky ghost named Jesse living in her bedroom.

She has several adult books, too, that are just great as far as brain candy books go -- one series is called The Queen of Babble, another one is about a dorm assistant who ends up solving murders -- the first one in that series is called Size 12 is Not Fat. Then she has tons of stand alone novels both adult and young adult.

Chelsea and I just adore her stuff -- well Chelsea adores her young adult books -- she isn't allowed to read the adult stuff yet. ;)

Oh my goodness you guys, I couldn't wait until next Monday to post this!!!!......:rotfl2:

The joy of a big family, my dear. :goodvibes Trust me, there are times when it's quiet, or if DS is sleeping over my parents and I think wow...maybe we should have another one. I don't know if I'm done. :lmao:

Awe... it would become a pirates life for FOUR! Just think- even numbers for two person rides. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Awwww he's so cute, it's just a shame that we live on different continents as Becci is madly in lurve with Edward and now that she's dyed her hair back to dark brown she is rocking the Bella vibe alot more:lmao:

I've just heard that Twilight will be out on dvd in the US on 21Mar but no word on the UK release date:sad2: not fair.

Oh that wouldn't stop Kyle... he wants to live abroad as soon as he's old enough. His daily project is to figure out whether to backpack around Europe or go buy a cheap car and drive wherever his heart desires.

I have to brag on Kyle- if any of you have read Midnight Sun on Stephenie Meyer's website (it's Twilight from Edward's perspective- and it's only just over 200 pages of a rough draft but it's a great read), there's a part when Edward and Bella are at the lunch table and she's drinking a lemonade, soon after they meet. Edward swipes her lemonade bottle cap as a memento. Later he is at home composing Bella's Lullaby and takes the bottle cap out to look at while he plays. Kyle asked me some questions about that, to get the full gist of why the bottle cap was important.

Now he calls me his lemonade cap.

I love that boy. :lovestruc

Finally an author that I've read!

Okay. Did you peer into my cubicle today? I was sitting in there with my scissor and my VB bag, trimming all the loose little strands. :rolleyes1

That is so sweet! I hope my Connor says things like that to me one day! :goodvibes

Whew! And what was your favorite Judy Blume book, Heidi?

Awww, that is so sweet. Lara, it sounds like you two have a wonderful relationship! :goodvibes

You would like her a lot, LL!

:rotfl: about trimming loose threads today! Sometimes I envy you your desk job SO MUCH! I am not even kidding. I want a nice quiet, kid-free job. Today I do anyway!

I am eternally bored though. I sometimes sit at my desk and just look longingly at the current book I am reading and wish I could crack it open. :rotfl: January is usually a slow month and this month seems slower than normal. I keep telling my cubicle mate we need to stop being so efficient. :lmao:

I think January is just a boring and depressing month in general (unless you are Trixie and Lara who get to go to Disney). No major holidays, cold weather, we are all broke after Christmas. I don't even like what I have to teach in January...grammar, biography, and persuasive essays. Ick.

I am signing off for now to make the kids take showers and read Club Dead -- then, I will be all caught up to read the last Sookie book and wait for the one in May.

I think I am about to sign off to read more of "The Secret History of the Pink Carnation." It's really got my attention. You are like my own personal Librarian, CP!

I so need to send this to my mother. :lmao:

Awe... it would become a pirates life for FOUR! Just think- even numbers for two person rides. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Ha!

No joke, when my parents were trying to decide whether or not to have three (I have one sister, they always joke they decided to stop after me because of me) they looked at each other and said, hotel rooms are for four. Pudding is for four. Four is good.

Although my husband is one of four, so that was six in his house while he was growing up! :lmao:

Now he calls me his lemonade cap.

I love that boy. :lovestruc

Oh, Lara, I hope my son and I have that type of a relationship when we get older, that's just so sweet! :goodvibes
