The Everything and Nothing Thread

Hi Ev-No's! Boy, did our thread slip back. I found it on page 4. How sad! :sad2: How is everyone's weekend going? Mine is pretty slow. DH and I took DS to dinner Friday night for his birthday, which was on the 14th. We finally got to try Texas de Brazil, and it was very nice. It was very expensive (even with a coupon for 1 free dinner, it was $100 for 2 dinners and 1 beer ) so I would only go for special occasions and with a coupon. I think it's like $43 a person, and there is no way I can eat my money's worth. Even my DH is not a huge eater, but I think my DS ate enough for the 3 of us! The food is good, but the meats they bring around to your table are way too rare for me. You can ask for well done meats, but it is a special request so it takes a while. The salad bar is huge and has all kinds of things besides salad, so I enjoyed that.

Yesterday was watching football (my team lost ), and today was church and watching more football as I catch up on laundry and housework.

Dax - I hope you're all better now from your sore throat! How is your DH feeling with his headaches? And has your kitty recovered from and forgiven you for his little surgery? :) I know, it's one of those things you have to do!

Dizno - I am so impressed with your crafting! :thumbsup2 Who cares how long it takes you - at least you do it! I wish I had the patience and ability to sew or do needlework. Do you have trouble seeing up close, or are you not at that point yet? ;) Hey, I think my LSU Tigers play Oregon next year in the opening game of the season, somewhere in Texas (Dallas?). It's like the college football kick-off. I hope I'm not confused with the teams. We have alot of improving to do over the off-season if we want to compete.

lara - Yay for getting your week off approved! I know it's a working vacation, but don't overdo it! It sounds like you have an awful lot planned for your time off! I hope your Halloween party was fun! My DD is looking for ideas for a cheap and easy costume. Any good ieas?

Pakey - I love your True Confession! Last year I had my first ever girls trip (DSis and I) and then a short one last week (GF and I). You're right - it's a different experience altogether. I love my family trips and hope for more to come, but it is nice to do both!

focus - Sorry you are having to work this weekend. :sad1: At least it's Sunday! Are you off tomorrow or in the coming week?

Precious Pixie - Welcome! :welcome: Glad you're joining our thread! We're not as chatty as we started off, but we're still kicking. ;) Your True Confession made me laugh. I do the same thing, so I try to keep the temptations out of the house. Yesterday I went to Sam's and by the hardest did not buy my Nature's Valley Sweet&Salty peanut granola bars. Luv them! Instead I bought Fiber One 90-calorie bars and NutriGrain bars. Of course, if I eat the whole box, it's not that big of a deal. ;)

Hi Diva! And everyone else in Ev-No land!

Hey T Bird! I was thinking you disappeared! Glad to see ya! How about a cat for DD. All she would need is a pair of black jeans and a black shirt, some inexpensive ears (like at Wal Mart) and you can draw whiskers with an eye liner, or puff her hair up with hair spray, mini skirt or acid watch jeans, get an old sweatshirt and cut the arms off and cut the coller off and she could be an 80's rocker. Hope that helps.

I have always wondered about those steak places and I knew they had to be expensive. I don't like rare steak either. I would need the more well steak. But the salad bar sounds yummy. Did you get a good dessert?

We made Halloween cookies yesterday and old fashioned popcorn balls and then got dressed for the Halloween party. It was a blast the kids had a great time. We have to get this group active again!!!

Hi, everyone. I'm new (ish) here. I've been posting so I figured I would say hi to this thread, too.

Hi lara! Thanks for the suggestions! I really like the cat idea, it sounds cute and easy. I know she probably has some black leggings and a black shirt. I'll call her tomorrow with both ideas. :thumbsup2

We didn't order dessert, but I saw what I guess was the example sampler (not sure what you call it!) near the salad bar. We were way too full, and I don't think it was included. I wouldn't have wanted to sound cheap and ask if dessert was extra. But at the price it already was, I didn't want any extras!

Your Halloween party sounds like it was really fun! Do y'all trick-or-treat next Sunday?

Welcome, houston!

Happy Monday Ev-No's! Ok, so I am not happy to be here..LOL, but it is what it is...

DH is actually getting depressed again. He is scheduled to go back to work on Saturday, and we havent even solved what is wrong. We are going to see if the Dr can get him light duty, otherwise he wont make it. And since he is fretting about it...he is getting worse..:headache:

I myslef am feeling much better, though DH decided to leave the bedroom door open last night when he came to bed, and he also forgot to fill the cat bowls, so they were in and out of our bedroom for my last hour of sleep..so needless to say, I didn't sleep all to well.

The little kitty is doing very well post op. He was moving like a champ that night, no worse for wear. Within 2 weeks, all the wildness should be out of him, and he can settle down without the hormones driving him nuts...

Thats my updates...Looking forward to HHN on Wed, then the Food and Wine Fest at EPCOT on Thursday..:woohoo:

Dax I am so sorry to hear what you are going thru. I hope that the docs come thru for your DH and he can be on light duty.
I have never been to Universal, but I have seen many commercials for the HHN. Have you been before? Do you dress up? What kind of things do they do there?

Good morning everyone else! Mondays suck, sorry but as Dax said, it is what it is.

Morning all. And to the new Ev/Nots, welcome. Hopefully you'll be back to post again soon.

My husband and I are on our way to visit youngest son yesterday and got rear-ended at the bottom of the freeway exit ramp. Yes, at the very spot where there is a stop sign but I guess it was there just for us and not the guy behind us. Thank goodness we were in my husband's car. I would be devastasted if Elvin (my car) even got a scratch on it. We are fine but we are secondary to my car, lol.

Hang in there Dax!!!

Yeah we have gone every year since we moved to FL in 1999. No costumes allowed...and they do a good job of scaring the :scared1: out of you..LOL..I am a sucker for it. Basically they turn some of the soundstages in haunted houses and set up roving people in scare zones. Its a great time if you are into it.

Monday, Monday - can't trust that day...

Looks like we're off and running on another week!

Hello to houstonbch!

Dax - Glad to hear your kitty is doing well. Have fun at those events! I'm a wuss - nothing haunted for me.

Faith - Yikes, sorry about the car, but glad you're okay. I would love to hear about your WDW trip.

Angelina - I was just thinking about popcorn balls and now I'm gonna have to make some, too! Do you flavor yours? Sounds like you and the kids are having a fun Halloween season.

Teri - You're making me hungry! You're right, LSU and Oregon do open the season against each other next year. I'm a lifelong Duck, as my dad played for them in college and I lived in Eugene during jr. high and high school. They're having a great year so far!

Diva - I think that LSU/Oregon game ^^^ is being played in your neck of the woods!

Sandee - Are you off for the week and can turn on the TV now? ;) How's the new furniture working out?

We spent a stormy weekend at the beach. The waves were really crashing - it was beautiful. The sun was out while we drove home through the Coast range and the maple trees were brilliantly golden against the evergreens. Just gorgeous.

Have a great week, everyone!
Joan

Hi Ev/Nos!

Well, I have some catching up to do … see what happens when you are away from the DIS for a week. I had my sister in law visiting, also, I am a big baseball fan, so was following the Yankees – I actually was at the stadium last Monday … but they lost that game and the series. :sad2:

Dax: Hope you DH can get cleared for light duty, to make him feel better (and hope you get some answers soon). Have fun at Universal – I only was there once, over 10 years ago, so I am hoping to visit sometime soon and see all the Harry Potter attractions. I think you need several glasses of wine at EPCOT – just what the doctor ordered.

Pakey: So sorry about your accident, but glad it wasn’t your beloved Elvin! My DH feels the same about his car. Glad you a wonderful time in Disney, and yes I kind of felt that way when I went to F&W with my sis and a friend, so I totally understand.

Dizno: I love watching the waves from the beach when a storm is coming – so menacing, but beautiful too. My parents have a cottage on Lake Ontario and we can get some intense storms in the summertime. The West Coast is so beautiful -- I visited Seattle many years ago when my DH worked out there on assignment for 6 months.

Teri: My DD was a black cat one year – and it was so easy, like Lara stated!! This year my DD and a friend are going as 2 Nerds – but a twist – they are making themselves a box of the candy Nerds, plus wearing Nerd glasses and weird hair. The double whammy! If it comes out looking halfway decent, I’ll post a pic!! Mind you, we haven’t started on the costume yet!!

Teri – another easy costume – my DD was a hippie last year – we had a tie dye shirt, she wore a headband, (she has the perfect hair long and curly). I bought a pair of jeans at the thrift store and we decorated her pants with peace symbols, etc. I sent her into school with permanent markers and told her to get everyone to sign her jeans!! It was a hit. And no – I didn’t make it to the Pumpkinfest as I found out it was cancelled this year!! What a bummer! I’m told it’s on for 2011 – I can only think maybe the township didn’t want to put out the money for the entertainment, wondering if they were going to recoup the monies.

Lara: Glad you had a blast at your Halloween party – and very happy you got your week approved for vacation!! :cool1:

Hello Precious Pixie!!: I like your true confession!! I’ve been known to make up a cake mix, and just eat the raw batter …. Yum!! I know you aren’t suppose to eat raw egg but it hasn’t affected me at all … at least I think I’m still normal :lmao: Also at Girl Scout time, I open up a box of Thin Mints and poof! Gone!!

Houstonbch: Welcome! Just noticed you are from Texas! So, if you are a Rangers fan --good luck in the WS! They deserved to win – played much better than the yanks!!

Hi Ev's! Happy to read everyone's posts from the last few days & catch up with you all. Worked 3 of the last 4 days. Monday was my day off but I had lot a of errands to do & then had a retirement party for a work friend that night. The party was lots of fun. I have some really wonderful co-workers. Many of us have workered together for decades & are around the same age. Being hospital nurses, we have spent holidays & birthdays together & helped each other thru divorces, births, deaths, weddings, our kids weddings, illnesses & now we are starting the retirements. We do day trips & go to lunches & dinners together several times a year. We get creative with the parties & always have fun, personal touches that make you laugh but tear up at the same time. I really am blessed to work with these women. :goodvibes

Our hospital is being reviewed right now by a national accredidation agency. So lots of my time was spent getting ready this weekend. You have to do extra little things to make sure everything is spotless & the staff "toes the line" with even the littlest things. So far we are doing well, but we won't know the final rating til the end of the week. Glad I'm done working for the week, so I don't have to worry about it anymore. ;)

Gotta go cathch up on laundry. :rotfl: Hope you are all having a good week!

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope everyone is doing alright. Everyone ready for Halloween? They are doing TOT on Saturday so that means SUnday me and the kids will have snacks and watch scary movies. They have to see their dad for a few hours on Sunday but after that, the lights go out and the popcorn pops!!

Happy Friday!
Thought I'd share this pretty picture my daughter took today and wish all of you a fun and Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!! :hippie: (that's my costume!)

Joan, that is a beautiful picture! I don't think I've ever seen that many colors on a single tree before.

Hope everyone's kids have a lot of fun tonight! I carved pumpkins yesterday & roasted the seeds, they're so addictive! I have the candy all out ready for tonight. I love seeing all the cute kids. This is the first year my DD won't be here passing the candy out with me. Last year she & DSIL were just in an aparment complex with no kids so they came here. This year they have their own house in a cute neighborhood with lots of kids. So of course, she'll be passing out her own candy there. We do have lots of fun when we're together so I'll miss her.

DH has to go out of town for a short trip tomarrow. He only travels once in awhile so I don't really get used to it. Luckily I'm working the next 2 days so I won't be home much, anyway. But it will be wierd coming home after working 13 hours to an empty house. :upsidedow

Have a good week, all!

Good morning everyone! Happy November 1st! I can't believe that Christmas is next month! Where has this year gone? I will be glad to say good bye to it on New Years. I am gonna make sure I eat my black eyed peas again!

This weekend was a busy one. Saturday we did the trick or treating with my best friend ad her 3 little ones. Yesterday inbetween the laundry and cleaning, I made carmel apples and carved a pumpkin with the kids. Then when it was dark, I popped popcorn and we watched the Great Pumpkin. Whew I am pooped!

I love the tree pic! That is beautiful!

How is everyone else today?

Morning everyone...

Well last week was a long one....The poo hit the fan at work, and there was a schedule change...I am not overly thrilled with it, but I know have Fri/Sat off every week, and went from 6-2:30 to 8-4:30...EWW..but I am dealing

DH got put on Light Duty, and the Neuro appoint is on Thursday. We shall see what happens

Halloween was quiet in my neighborhood. No one on my street had the light on, so no kids at all...we had our light off as well.

Ready for November and the soon to be busy holiday season...BRING IT ON!

Good morning Ev/Nots. October is year end for us so this is always a very busy work time for me. I worked both Sat/Sun counting inventory. I do this every year so I always zip home close to dark on Halloween to greet the treaters who come by.

Joan your photo is gorgeous. We have little color change here. The trees in our yard are still completely green.

I leave for Egypt 14 days from today. The time is going by so fast. I can't believe it.

November 1st - whoa! I'll be with my sisters on a cruise in two weeks, and it'll be Thanksgiving the week we get back! Time is zooming by!

We had a total of 11 trick-or-treaters. Since we live on top of a hill we rarely get very many. We have triplets two houses away, so they boost our numbers. Guess I'll have to figure out what to do with the left over candy. :rolleyes1

Faith, you must be getting so excited for your trip!

I just want to say that though our little group has its quiet moments, I always enjoy hearing what's up with all of you.

Page 6!! :scared1:

How is the week going for everyone? I'm done working til next week. DH is back from his trip but the next few months will be really busy for him. So he's working lots of hours, doing paperwork & e-mails at home every evening. Weekends he catches up on things around the house. So we're not doing a lot for the next few months.

I'm trying to decide on our vacation for next year. We do our vacation selections for the whole next year bt the end of this month. So I have to pick a few weeks that we might want to go away for. We have gone to WDW in May, end of Aug, Sept or Dec. I have been thinking of trying the week before Thanksgiving. I remember people last year saying the parks were really quiet. I know, what a problem to have. :rolleyes1

Joan & Faith: your trips are almost here!!:woohoo: Hope you both have fun & relaxing trips. Don't forget to come back when you get home. I'd love to here about your trips. I can't talk DH into any exotic vacations. The only place out of the US I can get him to is Canada. But since we're right on the boarder, we don't really think of Canada as a "foreign country". :)

True Confession Thursday: I'm really good at decision making at work. I can assess, prioritize & make instant decisions. I am in charge and keep the unit running smoothly. At home, I can't make decisions very quickly at all. I'm still trying to decide on a light fixture for our dining room to finish things up. Since May. I'm wishy washy until I just force myself to pick something. Even when we eat out. I'll go back & forth between 2 or 3 entrees, then just blurt something out to the waiter. :confused3 What's up with that? :rotfl:

Hope you are all doing well..:goodvibes
