The Everything and Nothing Thread

Happy Saturday all. We just got home from our grandson's T ball game. I enjoyed driving my new car but it's too hot to sit outside watching baseball. I think we're staying home the rest of the day.

Hello Ev-No's! It's the late-night shift checking in. We spent all day at my FIL's for his birthday party. It was just family and a few friends, but even that's a pretty big group. Of course, we had jambalaya (I say of course, because it seems that's what we always have when it's a big group LOL) and lots of other goodies, which I ate way too much of! Luckily it was pretty overcast here today, so it wasn't too unbearable outside. We mostly just sat outside and visited and played washers. Didn't get home until after 9:00 - a long day!

Congrats to everyone counting the days and weeks till their trip! :woohoo: I'm so jealous - no trip in sight for me. :sad1:

I remember the days of company picnics well. They had them at a big park/pavilion some years, then started having them at a big water/amusement park nearby. That was a big hit with my kids! Who knows if they even have them anymore, with all the cuts in everything else.

Pakey - what kind of car did you get? Don't you just love that new car smell? :thumbsup2

Happy Sunday everyone!

Morning! I am not an everyday poster, I suppose.Think of me as an occasional visitor!:) I worked yesterday, slept in today, and work tonight, so not much fun coming up here today! I have to tell all of you, though, that I had WDW dreams two nights in a row!:rotfl2: The first was one I often have: I am at WDW and running out of time. My family actually makes fun of me for my well know, reoccuring nightmare! The other dream was I was one some weird ride: Pooh/Princesses/Small World! I knew you'd all understand!
Hope you are all staying cool! Enjoy your day!

Jane you are the first poster I've seen who mentioned playing washers. Our family plays too; all of us are RVrs and that's how the game was discovered.

I get a company car. My last 3 have been Toyotas but this time I got a BMW roadster. I've wanted one forever and it's everything I thought it would be.

It's Sunday which means watching NASCAR. It's going to be 103 today.

Our family (DH's side) plays washers any time a group of us gets together. We've been doing it for years - I don't even remember how and when it started. I'm usually just watching it though, cause the guys always hog it! It just shows you that you can have a great time playing a simple, hand-made game in the outdoors!!

RV'ing is something I would love to do one day! When my DH retires in a few years, I would like to travel the country staying in campgrounds and state parks. It just sounds like the life to me!

Wow, a BMW for a company car! I'll bet you're loving that. :goodvibes

So today we found my son an apt. to rent for next semester. He wanted to live by himself for the first time, so we found a small studio-type place that has been updated with new paint, carpet, and fixtures. To be able to afford a place by himself (with much help from us ;)) it had to be small. I think we found the nicest place in the best condition for the money. Thank heavens both my children have found their living quarters for at least a year. I'm so sick of Craigslist!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Good morning sweet nothings! Ah another Monday, ain't it great, NOT! Man I need a vacation. Heck I'd settle for a day in bed, all day and just sleep as I wanted. Hope everyone is doing ok. I did have a trip planned for October, but it's not looking too good. I am going through a divorce and ex is not being really nice. I am praying I can take the kids for a weekend trip if the budget allows, but I am not so sure. They have looked forward to it all year. I told them we can start saving up now and take a whole week next year. They are being so good about this but it breaks my heart and I think that even for a weekend it would be good for them. I can't make it as fancy as I had planned, BBB and the dining plan, but if we got to go, that would be wonderful for them right? We can always eat cheap. Anyways thats my story, and I hope to read that everyone else had a better weekend than me..

Good Morning Everyone!:goodvibes
So, most of you will notice that my ticker is down. We have to postpone Disney because we are going to Europe for New Years! We decided to go to Europe as a family, before DD goes next summer with a college group. We will most likely go to WDW in March 2011. I was so torn with choosing Europe over Disney, but I wanted to experience Europe with my DD before she went without any of us! So, we will be leaving December 26 and coming back January 5. We will first go to Amsterdam, then on to Paris and London. I can't wait! Now, I just need to figure out Disney, because I can't go to far in between trips!:rotfl:
Hope you all have a great Monday!

Good morning!!!!

LaraCroft; sorry to hear about the postponement of your Disney trip. Divorce is such a painful thing. My ex is a real jerk and never had anything to do with our son (he's 29) once we divorced 26 years ago. It's been one of the most heartbreaking things in my life; watching my son grow up discovering that his father didn't care about him. I'm grateful that my current husband (we've been married 25 years) has been there for him.

LaLa, how exciting!!! My husband and I have been to Europe a few times; our last visit was in 2008 when we went to London and Paris and Disneyland Paris. If you get a chance to spend a day at Disneyland Paris, try to squeeze it in. I loved it; it was worth going just to ride Crush's Coaster and their Space Mountain which is so much more intense than the US versions. And Paris, well, I could move there tomorrow and be happy.

I arrived at work this morning to discover our building has flooded. Most of the offices are fine but the employee training room is ruined. It's rather ironic since we are vacating the offices in 2 weeks to move to a new building but the employee training room is not moving; it's staying in this building.

Good morning Sweet Nothings! :goodvibes

Well, we survived the scorching HOT weekend. It was 98 degrees Friday and Saturday. Very unpleasant. It cooled down a bit yesterday, but it was still very humid.

It is much cooler today and less humid. Just right actually! :cloud9:

Jane - I'm glad you had such a nice time at your FIL's party! And congrats on finding your DS an apartment! :thumbsup2

lara - I'm sorry you are going through a rough time. I hope things get better soon and there will be a WDW trip in the near future for you & the kids!

lala - WOW!! :cool1: You are always changing your plans on me!! Congrats on the Europe trip! That is so awesome.

paintnolish - I have crazy Disney dreams too!! They usually start about a month or so prior to a trip. I dream that we got there and forgot to bring any luggage. :confused3 Or that it is our last day and we forgot to do anything all week. Or that it is our last day and I forgot to take any pictures!! Yeah right, like that would ever happen! :lmao:

Dax - I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your DH!

Focus - Congrats on paying off your trip!! I just love my Disney Visa too and all the reward points I get from using it!! :woohoo:

So we hit the back to school shopping hard this weekend! Even though we have 6 weeks of summer break left. Thanks to JO mentioning the Old Navy sale, I found myself in there 2X this weekend! Between Old Navy and Vanity Fair I got the kids - 10 short sleeve shirts (5 of them being polo's), 10 long sleeve shirts, 4 pairs of jeans, and 2 pair of swimming trunks, for a grand total of. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Drum-roll please. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Okay instead of just telling you, how about we play a little game and you can all place your guess on the grand total??!! popcorn:: :rotfl:

Happy Monday All!
I’ve been busy here – doing everything and nothing! Sometimes it seems the more I’m on the go, the less I guess done LOL!! Running the kids to the mall, friend’s houses, etc. trying to clean my house. Yesterday, I did go out to lunch/shopping with a friend, buying way too many fitness clothes and I don’t even work out!! Well, I DO have intentions to start. Saw Eclipse with DD … again. She loves that movie.

Well, I hope all the non-sleepers out there can get some relief. I’m usually out like a light:)

Lala – Wow! A trip to Europe! That’s fabulous! I would put off Disney too - besides you will be in DW just a few months after your trip.

Lara – Hope you can make an Oct. trip happen.

Focus: It feels so good to have a trip paid off, doesn’t it? Congrats!

Pakey: Sounds like your upcoming trip will be great! Here I worry about flying 2-1/2 hrs. flying & you have 12 hours!!!

Momof2 – I like the perk for your DH’s picnic – that quite a grand prize drawing, maybe to entice more employees to come?? My DH’s picnic is usually at an amusement park, can’t complain ‘cause the last 2 years were at Wildwood, NJ at Moreys Pier – nice. A little bit of a drive though for us.

Jo: Definitely do the bake-off!! My DH would love the BBQ part – he got a smoker a few years ago and loves it. He makes great pulled pork/beef, ribs.

Dizno – Do you live in Buffalo?? I’m originally from Rochester.

Jane: Glad you FIL had a nice party. Washers, since I’ve never heard of it, I googled it … sounds like a great party game … played with a beer in one hand:goodvibes

Re the flying issue, I’m trying to get up the courage to look into a quick, impromptu trip for my DD and myself. I have this pin code and haven’t used it yet! Seems a shame to waste it.

Hope everyone has a great day. It’s such a beautiful day here (yesterday’s storms at least helped out a bit) – I wish I were anywhere but at my desk!!!

Later

Just poking my nose in for a quick hi! Got back late from the beach last night, but made it in time for the season premier of Mad Men. Thought it was pretty boring and even a little icky.

Dizno – Do you live in Buffalo?? I’m originally from Rochester.
focusondisney and I are arriving in WDW within a day of one another. She's flying out of Buffalo, and I fly from Portland - 12 hours door to door but only about 5 1/2 of that is actually in flight.

Well crap- I have so much to catch up on around here! :goodvibes

Okay let's see...
first off-

Lara-- I hope that you are able to go on your trip. I'm so sorry that you are dealing with so much and it's so hard. I was a single mom for a bit of time-- it's tough. So much heartache as a mom. I pray it will all work out and you guys can go and have a wonderful trip.:grouphug:

Janet--- shut up! I used to live in Rochester- well, for three years. I miss Wegmans so much!:goodvibes I am going to do the bake off for sure. When the time is right I will get you guys to help me narrow down the field of what to take.:yay:

Shelly--- okay missy I won't play the game b/c I already know what you paid.:rolleyes1 But I like it! Fun game! BTW-- ON, Banana Republic and Gap have an extra 30% off today online----- SAVE30 is the code. Yes You know I have already been on the site perusing it. (I said I had to stay out of the stores-- I said nothing about online....):rolleyes1

Lala- I am so very jealous------- Europe! I wanna go so bad!! I can't wait to hear about what you guys have planned!popcorn::

Focus- congrats on paying off the trip--! that is an awesome feeling!:dance3:

Pakey-- you get awesome company cars! We've had a company car for 11 years- right now DH has a Dodge Charger..... not so awesome.
Sorry about your flooded bldg. Good you guys are moving!

Jane- Jambalya=YUM. Glad your party went well. ANd yes-- we SOutherner's and our Just because Parties! They are the best kinds!:goodvibes

Okay so our weekend was quiet. Went and saw Date Night finally at the movies. It was so dang funny!!!!!

Hope all the Nothing's are happy and safe!

I made sure to be home for Mad Men's premier last night and I was disappointed too. I felt like all of the chemistry between the characters was gone and I'm hoping that the icky Don incident isn't going to become part of this season's story line (I'm not sure I want to go there).

And how wonderful to have been to the beach.

Well I screwed that one up:) I guess trying to multi quote, jumping back from the DIS to doing actual work, made me mix the two of you up! I'll blame it on it being a Monday.

Yeah, Jo, I STILL have Weggie's down here - just have to drive a little bit more than I would like. The closest one is in Collegeville (about 13 miles from our house) ... we just went there on Saturday, of course we had to have lunch there too:thumbsup2

Momof2 - no clue to what you paid at Old Navy's (haven't been there in ages) but it sounds like you got a great deal ... $240?

Janet- uuummmmm. Lunch. Okay what did ya get?

Sushi? Subs? Salad? ooh I know! Wings!! Tell me you got wings!!!!:lmao:

Pizza????????

i'm dying here. :lmao:

I used to think Publix was the end all be all.

We lived in Pittsburgh a couple of years ago- (after Rochester) and when we first got there everyone said that Giant Eagle was like Wegmans. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Not even close.

sigh. I miss waaah-waaahans. that's what my then 1 yr old called it. He loved the candy and cookie bins!

Things have been crazy the last couple of weeks...but I did get the carport cleaned out this weekend, I want to have a yard sale soon. School starts in 2 weeks and DD5 will be in Kindergarten.

This work day has been so long, if 5:00 does not get here soon I am going to scream.

Oh my gosh, that is so soon for school to start! I can't believe the summer is passing so quickly. Booo that means another Canadian winter coming up.:guilty::laughing:

Today is my mom's 52nd birthday so I'm heading out to a dinner with family and friends soon at a fancy Italian place. I'm trying to find the menu online before I go but no luck so far! I'm starting a new fitness routine this week and trying to eat "clean" and I have a feeling cream sauces and cheeses aren't a part of the recommended diet. I might have to just decide to wing it for a night!

Momof2 I'm going to guess.... $200? Are you giving out prizes to the closest bidder?:dance3:

Thanks for the kind words everyone. At least with the stress of divorce I am getting a jump start on dieting right? I am so glad this day is almost over. I swear it's been the longest Monday in history!!

Jane - Glad you found a place for your son, that has to be a relief all around!

LaLa- you lucky duck, EUROPE! Holy cow that sounds awesome!!!

Autumn - Happy Birthday to your mama! Hope she had a special day!

Jane - Sounds like you had a good weekend. I love to eat potluck like dinners.

Paint - Even a bad Disey dream is a good one to me. I sure miss it when I don't have a trip planned.

Pakey - Sorry about the flooding but at least you are moving. I hate the smell of wet carpet. It's done that at my office ad the smell is awful. Hope you don't have to suffer thru it too long.

Good evening everyone! :goodvibes

I hope you all had a nice warm day, but not too warm!

JO - You're making me hungry and I already had dinner! :upsidedow Subs, salads, wings, pizza!!!
I forgot I already told you all the great prices I got on the kids clothes!! I guess you are disqualified. :rotfl:

Only 2 guesses???? $240 and $200. . . Anyone else? Yes, there will be prizes!!

I'll wait til tomorrow to tell you! :goodvibes

kymmy - Good luck getting things ready for a yard sale. I need to do that too. What an exciting time for your DD starting Kindergarten. Exciting and nerve-racking for mom.
