The Duggar Family is pregnant AGAIN!

:rotfl2: Like I'm sure YOUR family are the Kennedy's! What is the definition of a REAL family?

Well a real family does not keep having more and more kids and handing them over to older siblings to raise.

That isn't nice. I see her point. The Duggar family is all about the entire unit. It is a different outlook than I have, where each individual is more relevant.

That isn't to say that I think the duggars are abusing their kids, etc. I've seen real abuse up close far too often.

My mother raised her younger brothers and sisters (family of 9). She turned out damn good. She was the eldest and her early responsibility led her to become a successful business woman making 6 figures (back in the 80s!).

So you mean to say that all those families way before birth control and our time that had large families where NOT families??:confused3 Don't think so my great grandma had 15 kids!!! I know she must have needed help from the other children and there is nothing wrong with that.

There is nothing wrong with help.. what this family does is over the top.

Nope, sorry, I don't need a tell-all book...
There is plenty of information publicly out there now for me to make my judgement. When I say that these parents DISGUST me, it is truly my opinion of them, and them alone, based on their actions. Based on what they have willingly portrayed to the public.

NOTE: I am making no judgements about large families, conservative christian families, etc..

I am a conservative christian, I am from a very large family...

I make no general negative judgement calls based on those general factors.

When I say that these parents DISGUST me, it is truly my opinion of them, and them alone, based on their personal actions.

If they DISGUST you what do you think of parents that beat, rape, murder, sell their children's bodies for money! Give me break!

I understand what you're saying.

I grew up in a family of 5 children, my mother came from 6, my DH came from 6. You're right that the number has nothing to do with it, to an extent. DHs mother actually had very little to do with her kids, as they were wealthy and had house staff basically raising the kids. My family was poor, and had a very hands-on mom.

I just think there's a BIG difference in having 9 children and having 18 plus. Just from what I see on TV and read about their child-rearing ways, they don't APPEAR to treat the children as individuals, just as a group. It's seems more like a boarding school to me than what I consider a "family". Yes, technically by definition, they are a family unit, but to me it's more of a unit, like the Borg on Star trek, without the violence.;) WE ARE BORG. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.:rotfl:

 There are degrees of disgust...One doesn't have anything to do wit the other...:headache:

They more than disgust me. I don't think the Duggar's are abusing their children, but I do think they are disgusting.

That they now go on national tv to announce their pregnancies is vile. There are also biblical principlas about modesty and pride.

But not all women feel this way.

Every woman (including each Duggar girl) should choose her own path. It shouldn't be chosen for her by her parents or her husband or anyone else. What I think some "traditional" women fail to appreciate is that they owe a great deal to women who broke from traditional roles and demanded equality. Were it not for them, women wouldn't be choosing to be subservient - it would be imposed upon them.

Then stop watching the show. If you do watch it.

I just want to say this: this thread is contraversial and I see BOTH sides of the issue. Everyone is arguing some great points. God forbid something happens to Michelle and Jim Bob, that family will be broken up in pieces. Josh Duggar (once he turns 21) probably can adopt them. Who are their legal guardians?? I'm sure the Duggars have extended family but still! That family would be broken up.

I don't watch the show. But I do read newspaper, internet news and watch the news. Whenever they make news because of their reproductive skills I will continue to be disgusted.

About the breastfeeding, when the last baby Jennifer was born, they had a crib in an alcove in the master bedroom, set up like a mini nursery, very cute. Now in a recent photo, that alcove has a sofa in it, and no crib. The baby is 9 months old. I'm assuming the baby has been moved into the girls room, so maybe Michelle had stopped breastfeeding.

Wait one Sec, so a 9 month old is sleeping in a room of 6 (is it?) other girls ranging from 9 months to 19 years, and they are all trying to sleep??

Now i feel sorry for them! :(

Well ... it's been another 9 months since that last Duggar baby was born and we had our last Duggar thread. It's so nice that we can come together and talk about this family every 9-10 months .

According to ABC: Joshua, the Duggars’ eldest son, said the news, two days before Mother's Day was “a shock” — if only to a point.“I wasn’t expecting that,” the 20-year-old said. “But it’s been nine months [since the birth of the last baby], so yeah.”

Actually I wonder if they aren't actively "trying" to knock her up. I mean fertility goes down as women age. Many people who try to get pregnant in their 40s can't do it even once and she's managed it how many times? I have trouble buying that it's all just accidental.
I would bet the compound that they were actively trying to have another baby. Michelle said on the today show about her other kids: "They didn’t know. My girls watch the calendar like a hawk. We just found out on Monday night.” What the heck would be on the calendar that would give the girls a clue? Fertility information? Expected ovulation dates? When she gets her period? Or, maybe she just announces it by penciling in the next due date.

I can't stand this family but I am fascinated by them and I can't look away

You know speaking of one thing having nothing to do with the other, this thread is about the Duggars, not Paris Hilton, the Kardasian's, John and Kate or other parents who do horrid things to their children.

Or she becomes heart broken and has to announce it to the household that Aunt Flo is in town so no baby yet. ;)
