The Duggar Family is pregnant AGAIN!

:thumbsup2

It's repugnant. Any animal can reproduce like that. If they want more children, how about adopting some hard to place child?

I agree. I guess they feel God would stop allowing them to reproduce if he wanted them to adopt. Personally, I feel God gave me a decent brain and free will to do what I think is best for myself and others.

How long before her uterus disintegrates?? There comes a time when you have to take care of the kids you already HAVE but I'm thinking that was at least 12 kids ago....

Wow this thread has turned ugly:sad2: :sad2: I for one don't care how many kids they have if the can afford them and aren't on goverement assistance more power to them:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have seen and read that many of the girls wanna go into nursing. The oldest boy I believe is in College he wants to work on movies in editing I believe I will have to check on that for sure

The Mennonites and Amish I think have just as many kids but I don't see anyone poking fun of there lifestyle or there choices

No, the Amish would never agree to be on TV! :rotfl: But if you looked at their lifestyle, and see the littly kids on top of huge horses plowing the fields when you drive by, some would question that, too. Big difference is, they spend their life on those farms and don't leave their way of life. They stay in the bubble they grew up in.

Which is why I said what I said about the science books. I will defend my friends' (and JennyMomInRI's) right to teach her children as she believes.
However, the poster mentioned archaeology and molecular biology (I was a MCB major) as a possible carreer choice, I was saying that IMHO, it isn't a great field to study if you don't believe in the validity of carbon dating and the possibility of things being 10s of thousands of years old. And I just wondered how the adjustment to a large college with "weeding-out" science classes in freshman year would go. They are hard classes to begin with, and if it's completely different than what you've been taught, I imagine it would be twice as hard.

And yes, this thread is taking a turn. Sorry if I helped.

The Mennonites and Amish I think have just as many kids but I don't see anyone poking fun of there lifestyle or there choices

Actually the Mennonites have birth rates that are not very different from the American average. The Amish appear to average 7 children per family. I'm not sure what the upper and lower bounds are for them, but if the average is 7 there can't be many families who are having 18+. I'm finding some internet sources saying that more and more Amish women are starting to use birth control and that in less rigid communities natural family planning is sometimes accepted.

I'm sure many of us do have objections to the Amish lifestyle as well, especially the sense in which children are not given the tools (like a basic education) to be able to live outside of an Amish community if they choose. But there aren't a lot of tv specials by the Amish to get those conversations going.

I'm thinking this particular individual (the Duggar mother) is just amazingly fertile and amazingly lucky to have modern medicine that could keep her alive. (Actually I wonder if they aren't actively "trying" to knock her up. I mean fertility goes down as women age. Many people who try to get pregnant in their 40s can't do it even once and she's managed it how many times? I have trouble buying that it's all just accidental.) Personally I don't see why they think God wants them to have sex like it's 1750, but have all their other healthcare like its 2008 :confused3. Nature never intended for anyone to have so many children--without modern healthcare 1/3rd of the kids would probably have died before age 5 and she'd probably have died during pregnancy/childbirth long ago.

The Amish and Mennonites aren't on every TV show they can find telling everyone how wonderful they are either. It is the exploitation of their family that bothers most not the size of the family.

I haven't read all the posts but can you imagine what their stimulus check is?? If I'm figuring it out correctly would it be....6,300.00??

LOL, I think that a couple of them are older than 17? Four of them I think? So only 13 children get 300.00 and the parents probably only get 300 each instead of the 600, since they probably have ZERO tax liability. So more on the side of 4500? Unless Mama Duggar didn't work last year and make atleast 3000 then she gets nothing? Awww, who knows....it's all so confusing LOL

Even if they are 18 or over... if they are considered "dependant" don't they still qualify???

Haven't read all the threads yet so I am not sure if this was posted....but I saw part of the Traveling with 16 children show again last night when they stopped at Disneyland. I think the next time we go on The Jungle Cruise I am going to get the whole boat to repeat after me: Can everyone say Am-A-Zon? :rotfl2:

Jill

I'm guessing you missed *perpendicular*.

I totally agree with this. I feel the same about Little People, Big World and Jon and Kate plus Eight.

It's almost like they have found a way to make money exploiting their kids. No one, and I mean no one should be showing their kids on national TV when they are having a bad day. I'm talking more about LPBW and J&K+8, their kids deserve to have a little privacy, and do not need to have the world view their potty training highs and lows, or the twins (LPBW) when they are having their less than stellar school moments.

I no longer watch any of the family exploitation shows.

I don't think this thread is geting ugly. There are just a few of us that feel if you are going to have a lot of kids you should be the one raising them, not making your older kids take care of them.

As for comparing them to the Amish and the Mennonites. They would not exploit their families the way the Duggars do and they sure wouldn't live like this.

I watch John and Kate when I remember to. I just think those kids are so darn cute. Kate can be a bit over the top but I love when her and John interact when they are just talking to the cameras...I think they are a cute couple and they make me chuckle. I see a lot of mine and DH's relationship in them.

Nope, check the Budget board for 10 threads on this very topic LOL Doesn't matter....17 or older and no stimulus for that child!

Where to start? It's unhealthy for children to grow up in such a coccoon. It's unhealthy, IMO, to have to schedule one on one time with your kids. It's simply not right that those kids have to raise their younger siblings simply because their father can't keep it in his pants. They have no childhood. These kids are not being raised to find their own interests. And what about their environmental footprint? On the Discovery Channel site, it says they've used approximately 90,000 disposable diapers to date. They do 200 loads of laundry.

When you start parading your family around on tv for the world to see, yeah, I can and will have an opinion.
ITA. Besides, years ago, children were often necessary for economic survival... running the family farm and so on... and people had lots of kids because chances are only a few would survive to adulthood... it wasn't just religious belief. It was practicality.

There is nothing practical about the Duggars! ;)

Okay....I get it LOL I'm a homeschooler, but not the bun in my hair, skirt 24/7 type ;) Oh and I have 5 children, 3 of whom are adopted....so no 18 kids here ;)

I have many many years of homeschooling in my pocket. I'm a big supporter of homeschooling.. I am a crazy liberal Jewish homeschooler, not the Christian right wing type . Not that there is anything wrong with that!

I agree. Did you see the cafeteria serving area in their TWO THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT kitchen??!? (my whole house is just about 2K sq feet).

I'd like to see their household budget. They probably spend $2000 a month on just groceries and household staples. Can you imagine the amount of TP they use? :faint:

What does he do for a living? I thought he used to be an elected official of some sort.

do you see the side by side toilets? You cant even Poop alone. How about the soda machines. :sad2:
