Hey luckydad3!!

Have you ever been to Ohana in the Poly? If not it is great food and atmosphere AND it is nice for you and DW. The kiddies have activities they can join in while you two enjoy your meal. When making reservations ask for a table by the window so you can see the castle at MK.
After dinner (and take your time with the meal) take a walk out side alone the beach and find a hammock and let the kiddies play on the beach. When the Wishes Fireworks go you can see them from the beach. It is great for you and DW and the kiddies can have fun on their own.

Hi all new member here. Im the Kay in CdnKayDee. I like to see I am not the only dad who has to fight over pal mickey with his bratt oh i mean ds haha.
That was quiet an extensive qualifing list I seen there on page 1. It made me think of how on the last day of work before a WDW trip I bring in my Disney music cds for all the guys. They deserve it after asking me how Mickey is doing all year long.

Hi Luckydad3

Heres an idea for dinner that will hopefully show your DW that your putting alot of thought into it. You could suggest dinner at Boat Wrights at POR followed by a family activity at POR. Either a carraige ride ,bike ride,or sit in on a session of Piano Bob(not there every night).

HEY DDs!!! I have our DVC room booked a VWL in October. It is our 10th wedding anniversary and I need some REALY great ideas of what to surprise my DW with on an evening out. :confused3

I am planning to ditch the kid at the Neverland Club at the Poly.

Please help me guys. :worship:

Hey bonrea. I'm staying at the VWL next month. :cool1:

My DW and I had celebrated our 11th anniversary at Disney in September. I do have a couple of suggestions.

First would be, I'd use the Cubs Den at the WL instead of the Neverland Club. Nothing against NC (I actually stayed there myself 34 years ago :scared1:), but if you use the Cub's Den, you won't have to travel over to the Poly with the kid, wake him/her if sleeping when you do the pick up, travel back to the resort with said sleepy kid on the bus/monorail/etc, and you'll also have more time to yourselves because you can drop them off as you're leaving and pick up the kid at your resort.

Second, I'm not sure about what type of dining you may like, but California Grill at the Contemporary during Wishes, or Narcoosees at the Grand Floridan right before the Electrial Light Parade would be romantic. If you were interested in going over by the Boardwalk, I'd suggest either Yachtmans Steakhouse at YBC or Flying Fish on BW. The Dolphin and Swan also have great options in Il Mulino and Blue Zoo. And finally, by October Koozina (the new Cat Cora restaurant) may be open where Spoodles is located. If you do the BW area, maybe try Jellyrolls (dueling piano bar) after dinner.

Have a great trip.

kevin, have one for me while your there!! are you flying or driving down?

We are flying. My wife and I do not travel very well together. We got great rates with Airtran out of Philadelphia. I would love to drive down and stop and see some sights on the way.

My family (Parents, brother and his family and sister and her family) are all driving down right now. They left this morning and last I checked they were in Richmond. They all insisted on going down over Easter so that their kids did not miss any school. We did an Easter Disney trip in 2005 and it was packed with people. I will never do that again. I wish them all the best.

:rotfl2: this is too funny and too true in my household too! :rotfl:

My DW does NOT like road trips over 4 hrs - it's like 14 from our house to WDW... so no deal. We fly because of that. I just got back from a work trip out to the Pacific Northwest where I drove 8 hrs one day, 7 hrs another, and then another 2 days with 5 hrs... while she would have liked the beauty of the countryside and where I was - she would have been complaining QUITE a bit throughout. Sometimes it's just better to keep the peace and pony up the cash to fly. At least that's MHO. ;)

:lmao: thats the only time she dont back seat drive is when we drive to wdw!! the rest of the time its like i never drove a car before!! i get in the left lane and go. if your familiar w/rt22, its a mtter of live and death on that highway. she on the other hand, stays in the right lane, and drives the speed limit and rarely pass's anyone. i go w/ the flow of traffic. for you guys who never drove in the lehigh valley, theres 2 lanes in one direction, no sholders and barriers on the line in the median. theres more cars and trucks than road. the on ramps are before the off ramps and there about 100 yards apart. its fun!!! now you know why the andrettis are good drivers!:lmao:

4 hours is about our max. Our trips to the OBX are miserable (8 Hours). The one year I thought we were going to looking for a divorce Atty by the time we got there.:rotfl: This past year when we went to the OBX she sat in the back seat and watched movies with the kids. I was up front alone with Karen (yep I named my GPS!) She never yells and complains about my driving. Just always willing to tell me where to go.:lmao:

Hey Emmas Dad...26 Days, we are getting close. I was reading up on CSR and they have a bar at the big swimming pool. That is a possible meeting location. I will be there every afternoon anyway with my oldest son while the baby is napping. I sometimes think we spend more time at the pool than in the parks.

23 days, 11 hours to go! :woohoo: I am sooo stoked! And that sounds like a good spot to to hang out. My DD is looking forward to the pyramid pool and the slide... and I suppose I should admit the same

Guess I'll need to duct tape a few lime-green mickey heads to my hat so you can find me :cool2:

can i join?
i am single handedly responsible for making my daughter a raving disney world maniac....LOL.

How about a surprise Disney Wishes Fireworks Cruise. It is a way to explore Walt Disney World's Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, learn Disney trivia, and enjoy a front seat to the nightly Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. Add dinner at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts and you have an evening guaranteed to charm your wife and put some romance in the evening!

The cruise is available at any of the Magic Kingdom Resorts: The Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort, Contemporary Resort and Wilderness Lodge. Your experience starts at the resort's marina approximately forty-five minutes before Wishes begins. Your guide will meet you and escort you to one of the marina's many pontoon boats, each with a capacity of eleven passengers. As your boat moves out onto the dark waters, the guide will regale you with trivia about the many sights around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The next event you will experience on your cruise is the Electrical Water Pageant. Your guide will turn the boat around for the best vantage point and you simply sit back and watch as music fills the air and lights dance on the water. You and your wife may begin to recognize some of your favorite Disney songs accompanying an electrified sea serpent, leaping dolphins, an octopus, and so much more. The grand finale of stirring music and sparkling American flags is also a sight to behold!

Once the Electrical Water Pageant moves on (it cruises around to every resort on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon), it's time to cross the water bridge near the Contemporary Resort into Seven Seas Lagoon. Seeing the beautiful Magic Kingdom resorts from your own private sea vessel is cool. However, as enchanting as The Grand Floridian, Wedding Pavilion, Polynesian and Contemporary all may be, the view of the Magic Kingdom itself will take your breath away.

Stopping in front of the park, you will have a view of the castle as its captivating color transformations take place. You will see the monorail glide effortlessly up to the park and then just as effortlessly depart. You can discover just how large the park is, as your guide may point out Splash Mountain and you can measure all the way across the park to Space Mountain. And then? The headliner of the evening begins!

Music swirls up from the park and is echoed by some of the boats floating around you in the lagoon. The lights darken in the Magic Kingdom and Jiminy Cricket's voice is heard over all else. The first shimmering firework sails into the air and cascades down over the castle. Wishes has begun.

And the view! You'll see details you may have never noticed from your observations inside the park. There is the "frowny" face created by the fireworks as the Evil Queen beseeches Evil to show its face. There is the castle lit with a blue cone shape decorated with white stars and moons as the music changes to the "Sorcerer's Apprentice". You'll see Tinker Bell's flight as you've never seen it before. All this is spread before you, a true feast for the eyes. It is a spectacular that you'll share with tens of thousands of people, yet feels as though it exists only for you.

The finale is followed by a trip around the Lagoon, back to the marina. No crowds, no lines, no monorail, just a simple private cruise back to the resort. It caps a perfect memory you are able to share together.

A Wishes Fireworks Cruise is as easy to arrange as any other recreation Advance Reservation. See prices and reservation info below.

I think I am more than half. We are going to Disney three times this year. I am so glad that I have a group who likes Disney as much as I do. My passion is I am hoping my daughter and son will have their wedding at Disney. We are part of DVC. My parents, my parent's friends, and in-laws are DVC members also. We have one Christmas tree that is dedicated to Disney ornaments and nothing else. I am counting the days we go back in June, September, and Jan (2010). Talk to everyone later.

Thanks everyone for the advice given to me. There were alot of good suggestions that I will mull over for awhile. I was looking into the Coral Reef but heard some bad reviews. Has anyone had any positive experiences?

I have not personally been to the Coral Reef, but you may want to listen to this past week's Podcast (4/1/09). Kevin Close gave it another thorough review. I'd comment, but the review will speak for itself!

Did you get a chance to look at Fox Chase? If not try to look at that for next year. Nice little course in Amish Country. One of these days we will have to try to meet up for a MD, PA, DE and VA Dis dads day. There is enough of us to make it work.
