Well it's be a while since I've visited this thread. We had our trip the end of October and I didn't have the time to play on the computer much, lots going on with daughter and her Cheer Competitions and the local Lions club I'm part of, we had something going every weekend until from Thanksgiving to just before Christmas from selling Goodfellow Newspapers to delivering Christmas Baskets to the community and more. Over the Christmas Break staying home with DD I didn't even have time to spend much on the internet either. Well now that the holidays are over and I have a little more time I got the bug, I did find time to order the new Planning DVD from Disney over the holidays, then I get an email from Disney Travel last week with a PIN code for 40% off, well sent it to my TA and were now going Nov. 15-22 and staying at the GF again. For our Oct. trip we got an upgrade to Magic Kingdom view, it was so nice waking up to the boats, train whistle and the music. Counting down the days now (308 that is) til we leave. Now I have to catch up from early November with the group.

And still waiting for that DVD.

Thanks,

Joe

Sounds like you have been quite busy. I just ordered the new DVD too. I'm curious to see what they changed in the video this year. My daughter still manages to twist my arm every now-and-then to watch the "For Kids By Kids" on the 2008 DVD. She loves that video :rotfl:

Have fun catching up... there's a lot to read :thumbsup2 And welcome back to the thread!

Well I caught up. Spent most of yesterday catching up on the last 2 months. I just love this thread. DW keeps telling me I nuts for listening to theme park music on my computer and in the car. What she doesn't know is I listen to it at the Gym as well. Fortunately due to a Gluten Allergy I've convinced her that WDW is the only place I'll take an extended vacation since all the restaurants cater to people with food allergies. DD actually doesn't mind listening to the music, she always wants me to play the Haunted Mansion song.

Heres to planning for the next trip Nov 15-22.

Joe

Wow guys its been a while since I was last on. I been away working to find oil and keep those gas prices down. I noticed that one of the other dads is planning for a trip in November. My DW and I are on the fence about when to go back. We can't decide between going for a Halloween trip or Christmas. If it was anyone else which would you do.

We've been going in October for the Halloween party, this past year we were there for Halloween, we loved it. But starting this year DD has to take these state MEAP tests in October, although I think we'd be fine with the last week of Oct. DW doesn't want to jeopardize DD's testing and I do agree. We got a PIN code from Disney Travel and couldn't pass up on the deal, the dates were very limited and since we're looking for Nov or Dec the dates are good for Nov. 15-21 and the third week of Dec. With Dec being a very busy month for us, the Nov dates worked perfectly. Most of the decorations are up at that time in Nov. anyway. I think the only thing we'll miss could be the Osborne lights, I heard they didn't turn them on until after Thanksgiving to save on electricity. But we're saving quite a bit according to my TA (and what I priced on the WDW website). I was going to wait to see if they would offer any of the 4/3 deals from June-Dec but the PIN code solved my problem. As for which is better, DW likes the halloween time at WDW and the warmer weather, me I love the holidays, we did go in Dec in 05, it was on the cooler side but we still had fun, and we're from Michigan so 55-60 degrees is still shorts & t-shirt weather for me.

Good luck.

Joe

Hey sign me up ! :cool1:

I'm definitely one of those Dads who starts planning the next trip to DW once we get home. :cool2:

I'm biased towards the the later months when the Christmas decorations are up. It is turly beautiful and magical down there during the holiday season! :santa:

is this a free for all thread where Dads can discuss anything and everything related to Disney?

well a little about me... I'm Ben, 27, have loved the world since my first visit to MK with my Grandparents in '91. I'm a proud father of a 3 yo girl and a baby boy now 5 months old. My wife isn't as much of a fanatic but she still enjoys it. Here's a family photo of us at the Crystal Palace this past October...

Well guys after much deliberation and hair pulling my DW and I hammered out a date in October.:yay: I love the Hollidays but Halloween is a time that the kids and I can really be on the same level and have soooo much fun together. We decided on the Second week of October, leaving on that Tuesday and staying for about a week. Im soooo stoked and cant wait to see all the parks dressed out for halloween. If there are any other dad's out there who might be visiting at that time maybe we can meet up.

Ben, :welcome: to the DIS Dad's Club!!! What a great looking family you have. It is going to be wonderful for you watching the excitement your kids will have as they grow older and experience things for the first time at the very MAGIC Kingdom! Watching my kids as they made their first trip was like doing it all over again for the first time for me since you get to see it through their eyes!:yay:

Just remember to leave lots of time for special times with DW while you are there and she will become just as much of a fanatic as you are! There are lots of opportunities for Kids Nights Out that allow you and DW to have a romantic evening alone now and then, and they are well worth it!!!

just got the green light from the wife, we'll be making our way to the world Nov. 28th-Dec. 6th and staying at the CR. !!! :jumping1:

Second gen DisDad, here. Our folks took us to the World when all the resorts were on the monorail line, both of them.

Since that time, I've taken my wife and my son on their first Disney trips. Just can't get enough, but regular doses of the DIS and multiple podcasts help to keep me going when I can't get my hands on a Dole Whip. Our next excursion will likely not be until 2010 when we will also visit "the U park". What can I say ? I may be a muggle but DW has a yearly pass on the Hogwarts Express.

But to bring it full circle... my sister and I are out of the house and raising our own now. That hasn't stopped MY parents. At nearly 70, dad just had a very respectable finish in the Disney half marathon. Right around two hours. That, and a couple of rides on Soarin' had me green with envy as I chipped the ice off my windshield here in Central PA.

Interesting thing about the DVD...I just received one the other day, but had not ordered it. We did book a short trip for March, but didn't request the DVD...it was included with the welcome packet thing. Anyhow, I started to watch it last night...it is all based on the "What will you celebrate" promotion. Looks like it is more interactive than the others I've seen in the past. Hope you guys get yours soon....

I would love to join the Dad's Club. I am online everyday, viewing the DIS boards and I am a fanatic about the Vacation DVD's, in which I watch everyday.... Please accept this appication...FamilyGuy74@gmail.com
