DIS Dads The DIS Dad's Club

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Second gen DisDad, here. Our folks took us to the World when all the resorts were on the monorail line, both of them.

Since that time, I've taken my wife and my son on their first Disney trips. Just can't get enough, but regular doses of the DIS and multiple podcasts help to keep me going when I can't get my hands on a Dole Whip. Our next excursion will likely not be until 2010 when we will also visit "the U park". What can I say ? I may be a muggle but DW has a yearly pass on the Hogwarts Express.

But to bring it full circle... my sister and I are out of the house and raising our own now. That hasn't stopped MY parents. At nearly 70, dad just had a very respectable finish in the Disney half marathon. Right around two hours. That, and a couple of rides on Soarin' had me green with envy as I chipped the ice off my windshield here in Central PA.

:welcome: to the club!

I would love to join the Dad's Club. I am online everyday, viewing the DIS boards and I am a fanatic about the Vacation DVD's, in which I watch everyday.... Please accept this appication...FamilyGuy74@gmail.com

Very cool Pirate Rooms. I want for my house! Not sure how DW will like that at home.....

WELCOME to all of the newest dads!!

I'm down to 9 days til I head south WDW for a quick visit while in FL on business, and just 15 days til I head west to DL to celebrate my 15th anniversary with my DW. Add to that fun my DW and DD flew out west today so that she could attend a high school drama reunion tomorrow...and my sons will be flying west tomorrow to join them and spend time with their grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins til I can join them on the 29th... I know it sounds a bit confusing.

All 4 of them would have originally flown out together but DS10 had a basketball game today (+ it was picture day) that he really didn't want to miss so we decided to let them fly alone. Both boys have flown so many times during their lives that they are definitely old hands at it. Both are quite responsible and trustworthy, so we decided to give it a go. Naturally this dad is both confident they will be fine and a bit worried at the same time. My guys are growing up so fast, but I'm proud of how they handle themselves in tough situations too. Plus both are Scouts and have been trained in leadership, first aid, and other stuff, so they should be able to handle the responsibility well. I'll just be waiting til the phone rings both times to let me know they are safe and sound in Phoenix and then Ontario and I'll be able to rest well Sunday night.

It's an amazing thing you do when you watch your sons and daughters branch out and do new things isn't it - whether it be taking their first steps or heading off to college, or in my case, flying across the country on their own...

I'm really looking forward to my Disney jaunts in the next couple of weeks. Getting in some time at WDW while in FL will be awesome, and then the very next week being at Disneyland! Woo hoo. We'll be staying without the kids at the Grand Californian. We've got ressies at the Blue Bayou for dinner one night, and I'm having a special cake/champagne celebration type tray delivered to the room the night we check-in. Just to get away and spend some time with the woman I love is going to be very, very cool. :thumbsup2

Sounds like great times are headed your way. I'm sending up a prayer of protection for your kids right now. :thumbsup2 They will be just fine.::yes::

What a cool club! Please count me in as a member if you would. I have two rambunctious guys myself, 6 and 5. We live about 40 minutes away from MK and we bought in a AKL last year. We've been having a blast with our little "staycations". We've booked three nights at AKL in March and three nights at Vero in June and two nights at the Beach club in July. Last year we stayed at AKL, HH (Man was Hilton Head great), OKW, the Boardwalk and recently at Beach club at the beginning of the month. Looking forward to trying Wilderness lodge but that place seems to stay booked. :confused3

Well where do I begin... As you can tell I haven't been to WDW much, but after my last trip (August 08) I have caught the Disney bug. When it was time to ask the kids where they wanted to go, I was pushing for Disney again. Of course I pushed with a ACE in the hole... Star Wars Weekend. I mean come on how many Disney Dads out their get BOTH :thumbsup2.

I am a planner, so I have planned and number crunched. On our last trip I created the following: Mousekeeping envelopes, Window decorations, Autograph book, Epcot Passport, T-shirts for the family (5), etc..

My kids thought I was nuts, but enjoyed the extra Disney magic once we got their.

I especially LOVED the ESPN club... I could have died and went to heaven.. Disney and FOOTBALL... WHOO HOO

Please accept this application into the DIS Dad's Club... :hyper:

I have been to Disney almost every year of my adult life. I would go more than once per year, but that is all that my wife can take. She likes Disney, but insists on vacations to other places each year, too. :confused3

I joined this board to commune with fellow Disney fans who won't shush me every time I want to plan something for our next Disney vacation just because we don't leave for another 8 months. :rotfl2:

My boys have inherited my love for all things Disney, and I think that they will both grow up to be Disney Dads, as well.

Please accept my application. If you won't have me, who will? :sad2:

Well, we're taking our Disney obsession to the next level. We are theming our travel trailer in Haunted mansion. We are putting large vinyl pictures of the hitchhiking ghosts on it as well as a Haunted mansion on the other side. We have many plans for the inside and outside before we hit the Fort in June. Everyone here has the Disney bug, not just Dad (me). Hardly a day goes by that I don't have on the park music while doing other stuff around the house. Thanks to a nice person on the boards before they removed them...whoops! I fit way too many of the criteria on the first page so I must be a Dis Dad. :lmao:
