Summer break is over. So, I'm back-ish.

DW taught college courses this summer. 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. M,T,W,R. I don't get home till 5:30, so, we didn't really "see" each other for about 8 weeks. That's... tough.

That limited my Disboard usage quite a bit, since i was busy being "dad" to my kids (Side note: Not "babysitting", parenting. Because that's what I'm doing). But today, first day of School! (for 2 of the 4). So, I can post.

Summer in a nutshell:
We booked a trip to WDW for June of 2012,:woohoo:
We got 2 new bikes for 2 of the kids :dance3:
Baby Girl is walking (and turns 1 next week) .:woohoo:
And I have a camp staff reunion party next weekend:thumbsup2
Finally, I got a new supervisor at work who I'm currently training to be my boss (don't ask, it isn't worth explaining or getting upset about:rolleyes1)

In other news: The last post of the previous thread (with Chuck and Sarah Walker, where Sarah Walker is dressed as Princess Leia) is the BEST last post in the HISTORY of last posts. (in my humble opinion.)

How've you all been?

I fully agree!!! :rotfl2:

Absolutely adorable...

She's..cuter than the picture...very playful too.

When my wife said Mini-Yorkie I was like :scared1:

I was afraid she'd be yippie and annoying.

Boy was I wrong...she has so much personality.

Cute! And as a bonus - you never have to sweep the floor again. Just teach the dog to lay on her belly as scoot.

It would take her all week she's so tiny. :lmao:

Cute dog, is there a way to turn off the glowing, green eyes? :)

:lmao:

Did anybody else get the e-mail from Disney Movie Rewards about ordering the Phineas and Ferb movie and getting a free Platypult kit!

Received from Ron at 8:50 am.

Newest member of the family...introducing Chloe!!!

Welcome Chloe? Is she the attack dog from that new Spy Kids movie? :confused3

What a stressful week so far...I'm glad that I'm done with the draft, at least. But it seems like I've got a ton more on my plate.

My recruiter informed me last week of a job opening up soon in the southeastern part of the country. It'd be a pretty sweet deal. It's for one of the biggest companies in Korea and I'd be getting about a 50% raise if I were to get it. Both my recruiter and my wife are working hard to get me ready for my interview.

If that falls through, however, I appear to be next in line at my current job to become head of the foreign teachers, which would include a slight raise, so if I lose out on this new job, I don't have to worry too much. The hardest part is keeping my mouth shut around my current coworkers. Seeing as how I'm only about 3 months into my year-long contract, my bosses would get pretty upset that I'm even looking at another job. But it's not that I don't like it here...it's just that this other job is such a great opportunity, I can't pass it up and not try for it.

Anyway, I should get studying before I have to teach my next class in an hour...

Good luck! A 50% raise is nothing to sneeze at!

Good Morning.

Anybody else here spend more time online when they are at work then they do on a day off??

What?? That's crazy talk. :rolleyes1

Allow me to be the first to say good luck, we're all counting on you!

Beat me to it! :lmao:

As this seemed to help oXar with his job search last time I'll pile on:

Welcome back, and good luck training your new boss. Just remind him that the last boss bought everybody lunch at least once a week. :rotfl2:

Good Luck! If you get the new job, will you have to move again?

Yeah, we'd have to move again. Although it sounds like the wife will stay behind for the first few months while she finishes up her job, and I'd probably come back to our current place on the weekends. I'd rather not do a 4 hour commute one way everyday...

Good luck! Is the new opportunity something besides teaching?

Well, I'd be doing some teaching. Mostly Business English to the employees. I'd also be giving presentations, proofreading emails and other documents, and entertaining foreign guests.

Thanks to everyone else who wished good luck. I'll be needing it. Last I heard, around 50 people have sent in their resumes.

My brother has been over in Asia for almost 20 years now. He's bounced around between Singapore, Thailand and China. I think he was in South Korea for a while, but I don't recall. Anyway, his latest job is with a Chinese firm that essentially sets up print shops inside other companies. His business card had some big fancy title ("Senior Executive Vice something or another"). I asked him what he actually did. He replied: "Token White Guy."

Welcome back...

I am glad you made the distinction between babysitting, and parenting. I know WAY to many dads that think they are babysitting when they are home with the kids, and wifey is out.

[Wonder's why] Ron sends in teeny tiny pics of himself, but huge pics of Strawberry soup [/Wondering]

Probably tomorrow or Friday. I was scheduled to fly into JAX on Monday, trying to work details out on it. (Hopefully I can CANX it and reschedule):confused3

Good luck with that. About 3 years ago we were scheduled to fly Southwest on a Saturday morning at 8am when they were calling for us to get the edge of a hurricane in Raleigh at 6am Saturday. So we called Southwest and tried to explain we were trying to do them a favor because if they switched our flight to Friday night we would be 3 less people the next day that would need to be re-booked. They wouldn't do it, we paid the change fee and the other people we knew on the same flight finally got in at 9pm Saturday, basically losing the whole day.

After we got back we wrote a letter and got the change fees refunded.

No, that's actually to scale, the bowl is about 10 feet across. It is part of the new Honey I Shrunk The Kids Buffet at DHS.

Now that story would have been more believable if you said it was part of the new Alice in Wonderland breakfast.... and he drank the "DRINK ME" potion.
I coulda' sworn I just saw the Mad Hatter just run by...

Sounds like your options right now are "Good" and "Awesome", I hope it works out for you.

I didn't but thanks for pointing it out. There is a Platypult shaped hole in my desk.

Food porn should always involve bacon! But I'm still envious...
Seconded.

It's comforting to know that folks searching for "bacon" on the disboards will find our thread.

Don added bacon as a tag word!

Great job Don! :thumbsup2 <----- thumb
